Saw this as black friday sale. The 2tb drives are all usually $100.
There is another model for $5 more.. Not sure what is the difference.

toshis’re fine in my experience
The 1tb ssd is 100x better all my hard drives cark it or are dog slow
but 0.5x the storage.
Do the SSD last longer? Yeah all HDD die out.
Would be good to have one reliable one for offsite photo backup
2TB Pcie Gen 3 SSD for $93.59 with code BF22AU (TLC, no DRAM): https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364303237825
SSD Enclosure for $25: https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Enclosure-Tool-Free-Thunder…
Better than the deal above?
SSD vs HDD - huge difference
Can you elaborate more on the difference? I understood SSD is faster and quieter, but the members here seem to have such a huge aversion towards HDD.
@snivy: HDD will be better for long term storage where you want to back things up and leave/not access frequently.
Even better 2TB Pcie Gen 4 SSD for $128 shipped (TLC + DRAM): https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-Plus-PCIe-NAND-6600MB/dp/B…
You can also find AliExpress enclosures for USB.C 3.2 Gen 2 for around $10 shipped
Or would you buy something like this as well where it's prepackaged and don't need to worry about enclosure? (Haven't bought SSD ones before)
Limited-time deal: SanDisk SDSSDE61-2T00-G25 Extreme 2TB Portable NVMe SSD, USB-C, up to 1050MB/s Read and 1000MB/s Write Speed, Water and dust-Resistant, Works with PC, PS4, and Xbox X https://amzn.asia/d/4yAFGmC
That's significantly more than $79.
As long as you realise Toshiba has a consistent history of making the slowest drives
Theyre consistent, gotta give them that
if you’re buying a spindle drive raw transfer speed’s unlikely to be a priority
How does this compare to the Samsung T7?
First of all this is HDD
Sorry just noticed this Bought Samsung T7 from ebay $83
Which isn't 2TB, ofc.
There is another model for $5 more
That's the Advance l got that it's still only 5400 2 1/2 inch but (supposedly) faster transfer speed & 3 year warranty……think the Canvio basic is 1 year warranty
I got it for the TV as my LG oled limit is 2TB
Ended up buying this one from 1tb as well: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816120
Essentially same price but 1tb instead of 2tb.
First SSD drive. Hopefully these are more reliable as literally every single HDD I've got stop working after some time.
toshibaaa…
