Nice one, Rodger1 !!

These Factory bikes are a step above the typical Anko type stuff from department stores. Suitable for a beginner or less fussy experienced rider.
Like me. I have an older M140 29" and can vouch for that circa 2018 product.
Road, bike paths, gravel and green/blue trails haven't killed the bike… or me.

These are 27.5" and use Zoom forks (the older bikes used Suntour).

Frame: Hydroformed 6061 aluminium
Forks: Zoom 100mm with lockout and preload
Shimano Tourney 3x7
QR axles and seat clamp
Tektro 160mm mechanical disc brakes
Double-wall rims

Go to Deal button takes you to the Men's small frame (157-168cm height).

Factory M130 Ladies Extra-small

XS suits riders 144-158cm

Ladies Small size (157-168cm) was $199 (SOLD OUT).

Finally, the competition.
Harvey Norman has Ladies and Mens for $366 each + delivery (online only).
All Factory mountain bikes at HN

Big W also have them at $389 each

The Tourney trigger shifters are a definite plus compared to the Revo-shift offerings out there. Budget for a kickstand too as they're not fitted.
But you do get pedals, @JV !

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

Prices have increased to $199 & $299 for the remaining stock, on both Catch and eBay.

  • Side stand recommendations for Mens M130 L??

    • Is this the actual bike though, or just an example…?

      • +1

Not the actual bike, but will give you a pretty accurate picture of what to expect.
Reid have similar videos. Some are universal, others you select the appropriate one depending on type of component.

  • Just got my order cancelled due to not having enough stock, where their eBay page now shows stock for Large frame!

  • Got my order delivered from Amazon - havent put it together yet. Pray for me.

You'll be fine. Nothing beats New Bike Day!

  • I got mine delivered today and I've assembled it. I'm very impressed so far. I will take it out for a ride tomorrow. I watched this video and its basically an identical process to assemble this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs-UCPg0who

My DS142 arrived today. I’m very impressed with what I got for $219 delivered (now $399 plus delivery) It said on the box that it’s an easy 25 min setup which definitively was not the case but YouTube eventually got me over the line. I’m not going to bother changing the rear shock, but I’ll definitely put a stand and maybe some softer grips on down the track. Thanks Speckled Jim for the info and tips.

    • Cool, I regret not pulling the trigger on this but with three bikes we just don't have room at the moment.

  • Only the front axle is QR so i've immediately ordered a replacement non QR spindle as I live in the thieving bastard paradise otherwise known as Melbourne.

Is there a way to modify/replace the QR seat post clamp to make it thieving bastard resistant ?

    • +1

You should be able to replace the QR with just a nut and bolt.
Otherwise the whole collar/nut/bolt assembly is pretty cheap. Just confirm the inner diameter of the new collar for secure fit.

      • +1

ok cool thanks i've just had a fiddle and its going to be simple to replace the QR handle with a bolt

there is a 31.8mm collar on the seat post and i'll just need to unscrew the supplied QR handle and replace it with a normal bolt.

Got my sons all setup yesterday - seems pretty decent so far. Only thing ive noticed (have had this with other bikes too) is the front wheel slightly rubbing against the brake as i spin it. It also only sometimes touches so i gather either the brake or the wheel arent 100% straight. Not a big deal, and can loosen the brake a little which should fix it.
Was going to get some accessories for christmas - anything someone can recommend? I was thinking a drink bottle holder and a stand….

Video was linked ^^^ and it's the same for this type of brake. Watch the whole section relating to cable discs:
      https://youtu.be/vs-UCPg0who?t=478

After those steps, there's a fine-tuning screw for the inner pad. You can back it off or toward the disc by rotating the hex screw a bit at a time. It's from the side opposite the disc, you reach between the spokes to access it.
On my bike, there's a click you can feel every 1/4 turn or so.

Stand and bottle holder great for smooth-ish terrain!

    • In the instruction booklet it says it will rub until the brake is worn in and not to use the front brake for 20k’s which I think is a bit excessive

      • +1

not to use the front brake for 20k’s

        This is crazy, I agree.

Once upon a time, things like this were checked by Government authorities. Advice like that would not reach the consumer.
The loonies are running the show I'm afraid.

      • My brakes are not rubbing and I've used them immediately.

    • Whats the gear system you got? Mine came with microshift (women xsmall)

      • same microshift, 3x7 gears

        • Same but what I looked at on YouTube micro shift seems ok even though I don’t know what I’m talking about.

      • Not sure how I feel about that, given all the photos show Shimano Tourney stuff.

One Australian online retailer (possibly Reid, not sure) has a line about "due to global demand for Shimano products, Microshift components may be substituted". Words to that effect.

Seth at Berm Peak talks up Microshift
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7NTEuFloZg&t=379s

        • That’s the same video I watched so that I could act like I know what I’m talking about😀 After watching another of his vids on how to select the gears I’m good to go. Went for a ride today and all went well. Can you recommend a comfy seat that isn’t too expensive?

      • Yep, straight away i looked and did not see the familiar Shimano branding. yet the Ad on eBay clearly states Shimano gears. A bit gutted! but then remembered it was only $130 so I guess ill let them off.

  • Has anybody found a decent kickstand for the Factory bikes? Received my order and wife wants a kickstand.

    • I grabbed this one off Amazon for $16 it’s just what I needed and easy to install
