  • Do these use esr tips snd if so how much are replacements?

Anyone know if these are accurate?

    • +4

I recall from previous deals these are the best and very accurate for kids/adults more so than those forehead laser ones during Covid. they use the ear tips not sure how much as our local hospital gave us a heap of them

    • Most accurate thermometer. Used in hospitals and is a staff favourite. Comes with a pack of earprobe covers.
      It's quick and accurate.

  • Have one for my newborn. I like it and really quick reading. I only use it on my kid, so i dont really change the tip often.

It will come with ~20 tips included.

    • Not suitable for such small delicate newborn ears.

It is also terribly unsanitary to not use the single use tips as single use. Really bad.

  • Please beware it might only show fahrenheit

Hold power button down for 3 seconds and it changes to Celcius.

Holy crap. I’ve been using that for 5 years and never know I can change it!!! Thanks mate

          Username checks out ?

  • Got one 😁

  • I guess you can change F to C?

    • Yes you can. Just tried my…

  • hesitant only because of US and warranty…

    • Seller is Amazon Australia.

      • It's sold on Amazon Au, seller is Amazon US and they can deny warranty if they wanted to though Amazon is usually good with returns…

        • they can deny warranty if they wanted to

As in Amazon Australia isn't bound by the ACL? Or have you heard of cases where Amazon Australia denied an otherwise valid warranty claim?

  • There Chinese-branded ones on AliEx,
    which have the same 'features'
and is priced 1/3 of this.

I only bought the Chinese ones, a couple of [sic] ears ago
because I could never get the Braun this cheap.

    • +3

Those might read only 36.5 C all the time. /s

      • I got this Elera one

        …and I just checked,…it's priced at AUD 4+ (!?!)

I paid a lot more than that, during lockdowns.

  • This one is so bright at night!! Blinding!!!

  • Wonder if the clinical accuracy of these Braun's are different to Australian stock seeing how TGA standards would differ to FDA

Purchased this for my sister based on choices rating

    • "TGA Standards" ?

TGA has 96% of its budget coming from private pharma industry.

      source

      • What does that have to do with the standards that have been set for the clinical accuracy of thermometers?

        • -1

I got triggered by those 2 words:
          "TGA" and "standard"

The regulator is supposedly getting a lot its operating budget,
from the companies whose products, it needs to approve or reject.

          • @whyisave: When you look at the chart the majority is

          • +1

@whyisave: It gets that money by two methods, charging an annual fee to the whole industry, and charging fees to conduct specific testing.

  • Is the return policy the same as direct from Amazon AU?

    • Yes. They're very good with warranty claims. Just contact them in case of issues and they should send you a return label and then refund you once the item reaches them.

Been using this since 2019. Very good and reliable. There are also aftermarket covers available on eBay which work great with it too.

  • Does anyone know how to not have the annoying af age selection thing come up at the start? i have this and just want to see a tempterature, but you have to deal with this silly menu first

    • Dont think you can. Worst part about this model is that "feature". As far as I know this feature only changes what colour is shown for certain temperatures. So useless.

It also has this weird delay before you can select one, but this could be part of the auto-warming feature.

  • Can this be used for newborns?

  • Good while it last.
Mine broke only after 2-3 years

  • Need to take your child's temperature when they have a fever, but can't find the replacement tips?
Bad luck, the tip needs to be attached for the unit to operate.

That was my biggest complaint - they are basically locking the functionality behind a subscription.
Can see how this would be useful in a hospital, gp setting etc, but for home use it's just painful.

Also the age selection feature :(

  • After shipping being heavily delayed, Amazon just sent me an email thanking me for returning the item and advising that a refund will be on its way.

That's a first. It never even arrived.
