    • V7 is a V6 variant I believe. V8 still better.

        The V6 and V7 are the same power, it’s basically the motor of the V6 in a V8 body but with a battery life that’s longer than V6 but shorter than V8. Gets the better bin release mechanism of the V8 too

  • Are Dyson refurbished pretty much brand new? Like box damaged goods?

    • Don't think they are as simple as box damaged but still I pulled the trigger on the gen5. The savings were just to big to ignore , and you get Dyson warranty too.

    Really want that gen 5 detect but already spent way too much on black friday deals for the new house 🤣 $309 for the v8 origin seems decent though!

    • To be frank, buying a 7-8 year old V8 for 310 when you can have the latest gen5 for 740 is a bit absurd IMO.

    • That’s fine if you just want a spot cleaner which will be fine on low mode for hardfloors but only need a few minutes deeper cleaning on carpet

  • Are the heads on any of these suitable for hardfloors?

    I have an older Dyson stick vac which recently died so I'm looking to replace it, but it was useless on hard floors.

    Hoping one of these newer models might work better.

      Gen5 is the later and better model.

      The Gen5Detect feels slightly better built, is easier to maintain, and has a more comfortable set of controls, with a dedicated on/off button instead of a trigger. The Gen5Detect's soft roller floorhead also has a brighter light to help you see fine debris on hard floors.

      The differences in features between the two models are subtle but may be important if you value a longer battery life and a shorter charging time. While the V15 Detect has a battery life of 60 minutes and a charging time of 4.5 hours, the Gen5Detect Absolute offers 70 minutes of battery life for the same charging time.

    You can buy a Miele for less than the Gen5 and they are probably better. Unless the gimmick light on the Dyson it's really important to you.

      Nope it's not better

      Watch the vacuum reviews and testing on YouTube. Dyson, as pricey as it is, always comes out on top.

    • Probably the colour of some parts and accessories that are included.

    • Anything Dyson with Origin in the name doesn't have the crevice tool

    Dyson V7 Advanced is a much better buy IMO. I have one and live in a small apartment, it's all I need.

      mine shows signs of slight wear from usage and a little dusty/dirty. Most likely from the previous owner exercising their 45 day money back guarantee period.

      • Geez you would reckon they would blow the dust off at the very least!

      • New ones also come with talc powders.

    • Mine wasnt even sealed properly, didnt came in the original box, some random box. Parts were dirty af with scratches all around and missing a few items. Unit look abused by the previous owner. Anyway to get a refund? I rather pay the extra for a brand new unit imo.

    Gen5 arrived. Everything else is okay apart from heavily scratch all around the dust bin canister.

    • My gen5 arrived it's DOA - bit dissapointed/frustrated. Was patiently waiting all week to show my wife that I hadn't just wasted money (what a facepalm moment). Would have thought they would be thorougly tested being refurb, it's my first dyson and I've lost a little confidence now. Not sure what there support is like, but will need to return it/seek a replacement 😔

      • I thought my experience was awful but yours is worse, the vacuum is decent in sucking the carpet but the carpet and hard floor roll will stop every 10-15 seconds and need to be turn on and off again to start rolling. Now wife is saying to get a refund and not buying another refurbished. What a bad experience and waste of 12 days delivery time.

        • Oh dear thats not good! I just rang support and they were sure my issue would be battery related and not motor, hence have sent a new battery as i was also opting for refund but decided to give it one more go - any issues will then send it back.

          Im not instilled with much confidence though after reading your comment!! Hope it all works out for you!

          • @jk91: Thank you, I have instigated a return. Their support chat is not helpful and ask me to dealing with dyson ebay and no reply message after 2 days 4 hrs. I am going to dispute my credit card in a few days if I had not heard back from them. Lose my loyalty there, Dyson.

    I thought I would share my experience as well.
    I received my gen5 and everything is in good condition, with no scratches etc.

    However, the wall dock mounting plate was missing. I asked Dyson on the support chat, and they are shipping a new one.

    Double check you have everything in the box (as there are a few accessories with this model)

    Also, the battery was at 0%, so it must have been sitting for a while. Hopefully, this won't affect the lifespan.

    I received my gen 5 and it's DOA. Won't charge at all. The coloured pink seal on the vacuum looks worn like it had to be slightly damaged to open the vacuum to repair it. On the underside of the head there are a few scratches. Not sure if too contact via eBay or dyson

    My Gen5Detect was not shipped for at least a week as well (probably) giventhey created a tracking number but no updates until I messaged them a week later and then it all happened very quickly (they never bothered to respond to my ebay request anyhow). Looks like mine has 'B' grade on the box too and thankfully it is working fine - came with around 90% charged battery.

    The seal around the cyclones on mine is slgihtly worn at the edges too but it's just made of foam so could be worn away if the vacuum was stored/dragged on its side too I'm guessing. The accessories look pretty new/unused except the motorbar head housing looked like it had been used (however looks like they've cleaned it or replaced the actual rotating bar). The vacuum overall has surface scratches/scuffs and was clearly a used one but I was expecting as much for a refurbished item. Charger and wall mount appear to be brand new.

    Overall, apart from a poor shipping experience, the vacuum itself is amazing compared with my old V6, the anti hair tangle feature on their new heads is as good as I had hoped too. Hopefully it all holds up because some of the above reports are a little worrying but then again many who received something perfectly fine might not have anything to report.

    • Auspost has been extremely slow lately, and they routinely skip scanning during busy seasons so you are pretty much in the dark until it is onboard for delivery. Dyson dispatches their stuffs pretty quickly according my previous experience.

  • Dyson is sending me a new battery. If it doesn't work I'm returning it via eBay.

    On another note the Gen5 is soooo bulky and heavy. Way more heavier than the v11 I have. Samsung is much lighter and compact.

  • Update…got the replacement battery from Dyson and the Gen5 turns on but the select button does not work! Dyson quality control on their refurbished items is absolute crap! Returning this POS
