Do you think this is a good deal on a Lenovo laptop? I get staff discount...so $692 total

    Dumb question, but what change in warranty process? A quick Google for "Lenovo change in warranty process" didn't turn up anything obvious.

      IBM used to handle the process of your warranty for a think branded machine, currently Lenovo are doing it themselves(last 1-2 months).

      So far we have had more damage done than repairs, and the process of getting them to pick it up is hit & miss.

      i own a couple of Lenovo's and support about 150 of them

        Yes at the call logging part, although this is a bit erratic at the moment and NBD is becoming optimistic.

  Check this similarly spec'ed ThinkPad EDGE E530 for $684.62. It has IvyBridge i7-3612QM + GT 630M but only has 6-cell battery. Could have used the discount code expired yesterday to get it (assume that you or someone you know have access to student discount).

  wireless card is rubbish and so's the screen

  also 2nd gen is a bit meh
