Was hoping for a local Black Friday deal on the new Fitbit Charge 6. Haven't found anything on Aussie sites but Amazon US has a deal that brings it down to around A$203. Typically retails for around A$259.

Picked up a black charge 6 JB Hi Fi $190.00 on 20/11/23. Was $259.00 just asked for the best price, mentioned the US price and was given the $190.00 price which I accepted.

    • in store?

  • Yes in store

  • I've got this and cannot get Google Pay to install any of my cards on the Charge 6 (even though GP is installed on my Pixel 7 just fine). I've tried a wide range of debit and credit cards including Amex and Westpac. Tech support have guided me through the usual steps (ie wipe everything, reinstall app etc) and there's no difference. Does anyone else have one of these and have a similar problem?

    • Let me know if you have a solution for this. Google Pay is the main reason I want to get this and I'd have second thoughts if it doesn't work properly.

    • I've been researching this myself, and I don't think all the major Australian banks are supported. Here's the full list from the fitbit website: https://www.fitbit.com/global/au/technology/google-apps/bank…

handy link. Sounds like some people expect to add every card or something.

I only have one card on mine - only for backup really.
Best to just use phone and or cards primarily.

        • Which card do you have that works on the Charge 6? Genuinely curious as there are people with cards on the list who haven't got it to work.

I raised a ticket with tech support (they use an overseas contact centre - there is no local phone line and the workers didn't seem to be remotely familiar with Australia. They thought I was trying to install a "Telstra" card after I told them I was on the Telstra network, as per their list of questions). They promised to get back , and never did. Next time I replied to the case, I just got a auto reply saying my case had been closed. Didn't hear back again.

          • @y2k: I got FB Charge 5 ;).

Give it time I guess, Google support should be better now you'd think :P
Sounds like there is no much benefit in buying the 6.

      • Thanks. I did check this before purchasing. I picked up mine today. I have 2 cards on this list that don't work. Tried everything like @y2k, wiped user data on the fitbit, reinstalled app, removed cards from Google Wallet and readded. Nothing works. Going to return mine tomorrow.

  • Tried bargaining in store at JB and the best they could do was $239! Don't know how anyone could get $190.

    • Can show you my receipt, cause I’m not telling fibs. l’m good at getting items cheaper.
Myer we’re selling them for $220 last week.

  • I see the charge 5 on sale for $160 fairly often, almost exactly the same (and google pay works).

    • I think the Charge 5 uses Fitbit Pay which is different because your bank needs to support it. Google Pay is more widely supported so any provider that works with Google Pay on your phone should technically work on the Fitbit.

Ok so if anything google pay should be more likely to work, but people are saying it doesn't on the Fitbit 6??

Which one do you have? Don't think it's worth a neg, was saying the devices are so similar that I'd recommend getting a charge 5 for much cheaper. The upgrade from the Charge 4 to Charge 5 was very worthwhile, for the screen alone, just not worth it if you have a 5.

Google own Fitbit now and I've transferred my data, so it's all going to be the same eventually.

        • The problem is that Fitbit Pay has been proven to work for a limited range of cards on older devices, but while Google Pay officially does work, at least some of us just haven't been able to get any of our Google Pay compatible (and installed) cards to work on the Charge 6. You said you've been able to get one of your cards to work on the Charge 6, which is great news, but others have not been so lucky.

          • @y2k: I've got the CHARGE 5… said it enough times.

You would think that Google Pay is more compatible. You'll just have to wait for an update, they are a pretty new device.
