Perfect to go with the cheap peppergrinder.
    A $200 pen? Seriously?

    • +1

im guessing you think a skateboard and a Rolls Royce is the same thing since they both take you from point A to point B.

      a pen isn't a pen until you right with a 2000

Right? Guess it won't improve your spelling…

        • gotta love android autocorrect :(

either way, what i did was typing and not writing on here.

    • Thinking a $200 fountain pen is expensive. Cute.

      (Lamy steel nibs are overpriced)

Good post. Gives me a place to tout my purchase just now so I can post something else!

Lamy ST Tri Pen Black Multisystem Pen 746 - Matte Black - $52.91

Review here. I didn't read it all but here is part of the conclusion:

It may sound like I'm being hard on the Lamy ST, and you're right. It's a decent multi pen that performs well. A few nags aside, it's a great option for a daily multi pen that you carry everywhere. It will certainly stand the test of time, and the fact that it uses standard D1 refills means you'll be able to customize it and easily buy replacement refills when you run out of ink. The bottom line is that this pen doesn't feel like a $70 item. If it were closer to $40, I would recommend it quickly. At $70, I feel like you get a lot more value out of the Zebra Sharbo X line, or even the top end of the Pilot/Uni/Zebra/Pentel/Sakura lines.

I'm guessing he's using USD so we're getting it for much less than his $70 price point especially if we take cashback into consideration.

  • i would love this, but i already got a bunch of high end fountain pens from a few months ago from a similar ozbargain deal.

I have one, and it's very nice to write with.

  • make sure you know which nib thickness you want. A replacement nib costs as much as the pen itself

    • Is EF too fine?

      • +1

Definitely not, the Lamy nibs from Germany are usually thicker than the japanese counterparts. You can watch some Youtube videos first to check it out. I personally use the Fine nib as it wasn't too much of a difference in thickness imo from EF but much smoother to write

        • i can confirm this is true. my Pilot M nib is exactly the same as my Lamy F nib.

          • @Hugh G Rection: So better off finding a deal on the F instead of this EF then?

            @seraphim64

            • @cnut: i kinda have them all from EF to Broad. I like EF and F for carrying around as it also dries quicker. in my office i use M or B. these use ink fast so I save it for my desk because i can refill frequently and easily.
Nothing wrong with EF, and it also great at saving on ink. you could also press a little harder to get a F or M nib result :)

            • @cnut: It's really on self preference! I personally find the EF Lamy nibs to be a bit scratchy compared to the F with my Lamy Lx line (have both nibs). Haven't actually tried a EF Lamy 2000 nib before (only have the F with the 2000), or if it's any different from my Lx.
My suggestion is visiting a fountain pen store where you can give it a try!

        • You can also use https://www.gouletpens.com/pages/nib-nook as a pretty good resource to see differences in different nib sizes and compared vs other brands.
