Hi so this is pretty cool. It comes preloaded with 60 games (including Missile Command!) and includes 2 Atari controllers.

CamelCamelCamel shows that it normally hovers around 37GBP and now it's 17GBP before shipping, which I think is pretty great.

Full list of games: Adventure, Adventure II, Air-Sea Battle, Aquaventure, Asteroids, Backgammon, Basketball, Battlezone, Bowling, Canyon Bomber, Centipede, Championship Soccer, Circus Atari, Combat, Combat 2, Demons to Diamonds, Desert Falcon, Dodge ‘Em, Double Dunk, Fatal Run, Flag Capture, Frog Pond, Fun with Numbers, Golf, Gravitar, Hangman, Haunted House, Home Run, Human Cannonball, Maze Craze, Miniature Golf, Missile Command, Night Driver, Off the Wall, Outlaw, Realsports Baseball, Realsports Basketball, Realsports Soccer, Realsports Volleyball, Saboteur, Save Mary, Secret Quest, Sky Diver, Space War, Sprintmaster, Star Ship, Steeplechase, Submarine Commander, Super Baseball, Super Breakout, Super Football, Surround, Swordquest: Earthworld, Swordquest: Fireworld, Video Checkers, Video Chess, Video Pinball, Wizard, Yars’ Revenge, 3D Tic Tac Toe

Kmart sell this too but I think it's $60-70 still

    • +3

By the time you pay for freight from Amazon plus buy a UK to AU power power point adaptor you'll probably be paying the $60-70 any how. So you might as well buy it from Kmart with its AU power adaptor included.

Pity its Shovelware. A few good games but mainly crap. Missing many of the Atari's better games.

    • I reckon there might be some repeat playability in 4 or 5 games out of those listed, which is of limited value for me because of what you can get for free if not almost free on IOS and android systems these days

    • Gotta leave something for the Flashback 4…

  • I presume this from Amazon UK might NOT have the Australian power plug - but I could be wrong.
It would be a great deal for a two night reminiscence

The old "WOW I miss playing these games, the memories"

    AND THEN

"I never play this piece of junk, just so boring"

    • +20

I know that feeling. Almost as bad as the old "wow, these games are on sale for 75% off on steam, I'll buy all of them"

    • +2

      All the time!

  • +1

Missile command my very old time favourite.

  • +7

I'd like to get this, + vote anyway, but it would gather more dust than an old wii console

    • +2

my thoughts exactly. my Wii has since moved to a cupboard.. wasting space.

  • +2

60 games included, but most of them are stocking fillers.
Missing A LOT of Atari classics that everyone would want to play on this.

    • +11

indeed. it's not a real Atari if there is no Pitfall!

      • I second that! :)

      • +1

        No River Raid. Thirded.

        • lack of river raid kills the deal dead.

  • +1

I'll grab one when they have them on clearance at Kmart, hopefully on returns pile as not working. I am a console and game collector, and I cannot even pretend that I would enjoy playing this, I know the good games are classics, but so many just pale in comparison to even playing a Sega master system. Still cool deal for people who had their eye on this, or wanting to turn their kids off gaming for life.

    • +1

You should get a real Atari then, instead of this psuedo-remake with the Atari name slapped on it. The original is probably cheaper and much cooler for your collection.

      • +1

Have one of each of the real ones, and a couple extras. games do run a bit differently, though in comparison to these days its still pretty underwhelming.

  • +2

i can still remember the corn/callous between my thumb and forefinger after playing overnight with my old atari. Can't imagine I was content with tennis/ping pong and tank. Life was much simpler back then.

  • +6

I still have my cartridges (hidden from my hoarding hating partner).

    • +2

I think I remember seeing you on that episode of that show.

    • I still got the cartridge for the tank game "Combat"

Finally: an ironic retro gaming system for hipsters :)

I should buy 10 and donate them to the local thrift store - bet they could get $200+ each if they roll them in the dust and rip the box up a bit…

  • Brings back my memory :)

    • +21

      all 32kB of it

  • +2

I don't know much about Atari, i used to play a Commador 64, then moved to Sega Master System .. :) The rest is history! playing only PC games and pretty much only Guildwars 2 ^__^ life as a 30 year old gamer is great.

  • Too bad it's not one of the older ones which actually has a cartridge slot. I've got 30 odd games that I can no longer play since the power adapter packed it in on my Atari 2600.

    • Current bid on ebay for an original Atari 2600 is $800 so i don't like your chances. Man those original Atari 2600 in working and boxed condition are going for heaps of money.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Atari-2600-Game-Console-Boxed-Com…

      • Is it just me or are the included games fairly average? I remember having a much better selection than that…

      • on ebay for an original Atari 2600 is $800

I was about to run to the shed to see if mine still works :) I think that price must be for mint condition in original box.

      • I actually meant too bad this isn't an atari flash back model 1, or model 2. One of them (or both?) had emulated onboard games as well as a cartridge slot

    • Could you get a generic 9? volt DC adaptor for the 2600?

I still have a working unit with 30 odd games, but it is the 9? pin joysticks that are all dead as they used to be used on the Amiga 500 as well.

      • I've got a universal one that fits just about everything else, but the atari plug is weird. Looks like a headphone jack.

i think my controllers are dead too.. but sega controller work in it luckily :D. The ones that came with the Blaze Sega remake thing from kmart were working quite nicely on it till it bailed on me

    • $800 for an Atari? Yeah right. Dread, you could find a replacement power supply pretty easily. Just grab a 9v one from Dick Smith or Jaycar. Just do a bit of research to find exactly what you need and which connector to use.

  • +4

Look online for "Stella". Virtual VCS is also good. The roms being 4K each can be zipped and emailed in their totality (ALL 500+) under 2MB.

    • Awesome, thanks for the neg.

  • +7

I finished Pitfall. Just wanted people to know that.

    • +2

      time well spent… +1

  • Yep All the games that are the low budget crap, where is Joust, Kangaroo and Keystone Kapers!!!
I still have a stack of games and a newer (one of the last ones with built in games) Atari Console.
I had an older one (big thing) but I dont know where it went.

  • aren't there emulators which already let you play these games on a pc?

    edit: http://www.atariage.com/system_items.html?SystemID=2600&Item…

emulation software is also on the website.

    • better off with Mame on pc and an xbox controller

you'll find that 90% of the games in the past have very little long term play

    • Agree. You can download all the games and more and play them on a PC Atari emulator for free. For joystick you can use Xbox 360 or Playstation controller with appropriate USB adapter.

      • While this is all true, some people are after the more genuine, visceral experience of an original setup.

  • If anyone ends up getting this and want more games i modified around 200 or more flash games to run on this model that i have at home very easy to setup just send me a private message with email address and i will email it to you.

    • The original OUYA! haha

  • I have one of these gathering dust in the back of my wardrobe (unused xmas pressy from last xmas).
If anyone has a (sensible) offer, PM me.

  • I had this super rare game called Snoopy and the red baron! man, was I the coolest kid in the neighborhood! then the cartridge stopped working one day and my popularity took a serious beating.

  • Anyone know where i can pickup original Atari controllers? I have an original VCS sitting int he cupboard with around 30 games (allboxed IIRC). No box for the console, but it's the original, not the 2600 which came a couple of years later. All working great. One reason to keep an old CRT TV around :)

    • +3

No reason why you need a crt. An lcd with an analogue tuner would work fine.

      • Indeed, I can confirm my Sony Bravia works with for basically every aus released console to date. Just looks even worse than they already do stretching it out that much. Space permitting, I'd prefer to go full old school with a tiny old crt 30cm or something :)

      • +2

For the reasons dreadpiratedan mentioned. Old school console = old school TV. It's how it should be :)))

  • Wish there was a N64 one. Mario Kart was the bomb, especially that cheat move on Wario circuit jumping over the wall.

  • +1

Get an Xbox 1 and pimp that sucker up!

    • I've got 2 Xbox 1's…. One works perfect & I'm keeping, the other stopped playing discs, but if anyone knows how to fix it, PM me with an offer??

  • +1

Now we need a PS One revamp. God I missed the original Resident Evil and Dino Crisis. Good times.

  • +1

no pacman, no asteroids, no space invaders, NO DEAl

    • It has asteroids :D. But it's definitely lacking some much needed games.

      California Games anyone?
