You can see from this photo, that this doesn't meet Cat6A standards, let alone Cat7
    https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71Mf-oZWKKL.AC_SL1216.jpg
    No separator between pairs.

Still absolutely fine for short runs, I wouldn't hesitate for that usage, just be aware what you're advertised is not what you're buying.

    • thanks for the advice! do you have any recommendations as I'm looking for some cat7 cables?

Nope, they're uncommon since they don't use 8p8c (often mistakenly called RJ45) connectors.
They use TERA GG45 connectors; and aren't a recognised TEA or IEA standard.
Also remember Cat7 will perform notably worse than Cat6A unless you have a grounded port; since they're all shielded, there's no option for unshielded.
And an ungrounded shield is instead, an antenna.

If you need Cat7 for your specific product, I highly recommend contacting whoever made the device requiring them, since no standards are guaranteed.

Most peopled are running at most 10GbE so Cat6A is the recommended for most people.

@Qbagger: Or go for Cat 8 if your device supports speeds greater than cat6a.

Cat 7 is the oddball like Dot 5 brake fluid. Dot 3 4 and 5.1 are cross compatible.
