Finally going to be able to let the cats out on the balcony without my partner having conniptions about her cat feeling the call of the void.
A few notes:
- The standard netting is claimed to be pre-stretched and stronger than your cheaper bird netting from a hardware store. Critical to stopping your cats from getting tangled or chewing their way out. This netting is also tested to avoid sagging/strength loss over time. I've already ordered some so I'll post a review once I get it to see how different it feels from bird netting.
- The steel reinforced netting is probably much stronger though some reviews say it's more visually intrusive and light glints off the steel. Reserve for securing the chonkiest of cats.
- The steel reinforced netting with F-shape zipper is only a few dollars more expensive than the standard netting, could be worth it given the zipper door will have more traffic than the rest of the netting.
- Black is generally the most low-visibility colour for netting and screens. White is the most visually noticeable. Grey is somewhere in between but shows up at night.
- Use their DIY calculator tool to work out what hardware you'll need to install the netting
- They have hardware for DIY installation on sale but personally I'd only recommend getting their C-clips and C-clip pliers and maybe the fence extenders (if you need them) as these make installation way easier and are hard to find elsewhere. Almost everything else like wire, rope, wire grips, tensioners can be had for much cheaper at hardware stores.
