UPDATE (Nov 22): Shortly after submitting this deal post, it appears that Australia-based users can no longer view/access the Valve Complete Pack bundle - SteamDB price history indicates that all currencies outside of CDN/USD/CHF/KRW/KWD/ILS have been set to N/A:

  • the specific prices for these remaining currencies are: CDN $11.52 / USD $9.02 / CHF 9.80 / ₩ 9930 / 1.88 Kuwaiti Dinars / 33.43 Israeli New Shekels respectively.
  • as a result, the deal post title has been amended to exclude Valve Complete Pack AUD pricing - if this situation changes in future, I'll revise the deal post again.

Several smaller bundles of series-specific games by Valve Software have been priced near (or have reached) ATL sale promo prices, and are still visible/accessible for Australia-based users.

+1 Just for the post/detail. Thanks

I miss playing counter strike and day of defeat at Lan party's and Lan cafes !!

Can't say I miss CS, but there was a couple of Aussie Dod:Source servers running (with bots) that we used to jump in to have a bash, like up to 8 of us at a time , it was fun but the servers went down sometime this year, so I just setup up our own dedicated (with bots and waypoints) - just kick it up whenever we have the need..which admittedly is not as often as it was…

Ahh.. Nostalgia. I used to play DoD:S with a bunch of the guys from OCAU years ago.. Great times

  • Hey guys, how does the Portal series compare to the HL series?

    • +1

Portal is more puzzle based, with little snippets of story and exploration thrown in with the level design and audio. The world doesn't have much of an overarching story narrative beyond the test chambers. If you've never played it, it's quite fun and well worth the few dollars it's going for. Portal takes a couple hours to complete the first time. Portal 2 is a bit longer, around 6-8 hours from memory, even longer if you include the co-op campaign.

    • +1

I rate the Portal games as much more accessible, more fun, and perhaps even better overall.

It's one of the funniest video games of all time, too.

    • +1

I can't say I have played a lot of games over my decades of gaming (usually find one I like and stick with it for years)

Portal and Portal 2 are easily in the top 10 games I have ever played.
There is even a community mods available for extra levels once you have completed the main stories.

The only drawback I would say is once you have finished it's kind of over (except community built levels)

FYI for existing and future owners of Portal 2, there is an upcoming community-made mod, planned for release on January 5th 2024:

    MECHANICS
    Over 40 new puzzles
The campaign contains 40 brand new puzzles making use of new test elements and presents existing mechanics in a new way not seen in Portal 2.

    • Resurrected "Pneumatic Diversity Vent" element
    • New laser cube variant
    • Over 15 puzzles using only the blue Portal-Gun

    Difficulty
Portal: Revolutions puzzle difficulty starts where Portal 2 stops, but fear not. All new mechanics and advanced portal tricks are taught to you. We have ensured through vigorous playtesting that every player can solve the puzzles. Although very few chambers require portals to be fired mid-air, no puzzles require advanced tricky movement.

Depending on your experience with Portal 2 mechanics, you can expect about 5 to 7 hours of playtime.

    STORY
Set inbetween Portal and Portal 2, Portal: Revolution tells a brand new story using new characters. You play as a test subject who is awoken by a personality sphere called Stirling and join his mission to find a powerful device capable of restoring Aperture to its former glory.

    ENGINE
Portal: Revolution uses a modified version of Portal 2: Community Edition's engine, which is a custom version of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Source Engine branch using licensed source code provided by Valve Software.

This allowed us to introduce many mechanics and improvements to the engine to create an experience which would be impossible in Portal 2.

There's been quite a few well-polished mods along these lines already!

Both Portal Stories: Mel and Portal Reloaded are excellent; although the time-travel third portal in Reloaded broke me and I haven't finished it.

  • The orange box? Gee, I still remember that debacle with the orange box keys from Thailand and valve started banning them at that time. Lucky I redeemed mine before they started banning. Hahahaha.

  • I would pay 15x that figure for it to be playable on PS4 / PS5 and same for Portal 2. :/

  • Man I think the orange box was the first thing I bought on my Steam account back in like '07 or something

  • +1

I wonder how many people don't have all these titles now… (not in a negative way, I just feel like everyone that's interested in these surely has bought them by now).

    • Speaking of negative…

Here's what you save by buying this package: > A$ -2.95

  • I belatedly found the Counter-Strike 1 Anthology bundle, currently on sale, and it is still viewable/accessible/sold to Australian and other international users (confirmed by SteamDB). I have added this bundle to the deal post description's tables.

Despite the very recent "delisting" of Valve Complete Pack for Australian (AUD currency) users, most of its paid items can be obtained through one or more of the smaller bundles in the deal post, except for:

  • November 24th Update:

The Valve Complete Pack bundle has been made available for sale again for all currencies, including AUD - however:

    • the bundle base discount is no longer 55%, it was changed to 28%
    • at the current Autumn Sale 2023 promotional discount of -90% (changed from -94%), the current bundle price is now at: A$21.28 (instead of A$13.28).
    • purchasing the bundle saves you A$8.31 (instead of A$16.31).

    Related News:

The recent Half-Life 25th Anniversary Update not only included fixes and enhancements to the original Half-Life game, but also to the original Counter-Strike (a.k.a. CS 1.6).

Interestingly, the first prototype for Valve's Left 4 Dead game - called "Terror Strike" (built for Counter-Strike: Condition Zero) - was accidentally included in the latest CS 1.6 update.
