  • Are these really big deals? First time buyer…

    Fox 5 vs fox 3?

    • +1

Without checking, if Baby bunting have stock they will either be cheaper or will price beat 5%.

      • +1

Today went there and they didn't price match. And returned me saying that site has black friday deals. We cant price match hahahha

        • +1

Just checked their website for Fox 3… $1099 with free delivery. What am I missing?

          https://www.babybunting.com.au/product/bugaboo-fox-3-complet…

        • Yeah they're pricks, I stopped buying there when they tried the same bullshit excuse with me. Either you price match, or you don't.

          • @Ham Dragon: I just hate the customer service there. They treat you like they don't want to sell anything. Rude…

Who pays $2k for a pram? FFS

      My Wife… She's a Pram Snob

      • +4

Same! And the mums I see with the same pram! (Uppa Vista)

        • We have the Uppababy Vista 2 and it's awesome. Worth the price IMO, and resale via FBMP will yield at least 50-60% of original price.

          • -1

@Ham Dragon: I have like 3-4 friends that are trying to flog their Uppababy Vista 2 at me, to me, that says they regret paying $1.6k for a pram they used for 2 years.

            • @tightm8: I think it says their kids have grown out of the pram stage…

          • @Ham Dragon: Huge, heavy pram. Good if you haven’t used anything else

            • @BarryBargain88: We got it to use as a double, as it was easier to manage than a tandem in terms of weight & foldability.

When it's the mother making the choice and you who's footing the bill.

That's when you pay $2k for a pram.

    • I didn't neg you as I agree with you… But my wife has completely different ideas… She saw this & wants to buy it… I said NO as we have enough prams… LOL

  • still not worth it

Honestly staggered that anyone is posting these "deals" for prams with a straight face.

I've been hoovering up various brands of pram from Bookface Marketplace since my little one was born, including a couple of Cameleon 3s, a couple of Uppababy ones (a Vista and a Cruz), a BabyBee…the one we have settled on is a Steelcraft Strider Compact for our big walks and a valco baby snap ultra for the car.

Didn't pay a cent over $100 for any of them and on-sold the ones we didn't like for what we paid. MIL has taken a Cameleon 3 and my mum has taken a Valco baby for when we travel to either of them (one is regional vic and the other interstate).

I know you usually can't compare new with second hand but honestly, these are things that are typically used for 1-2 years then moved on (or 3-4 years if parents decide to totally ruin their lives by having a second one). If you could buy a 3-4 year old car for 90% off the new price, you wouldn't think the new price was a bargain.

    • You're not wrong, and it sound like you've got your head screwed on straight.

Pregnancy doesn't always foster logical thinking though, and sometimes you have to make the best of someone else's decision. If we can save a chunk on a required purchase, then it's a bargain to the buyer.

Don't get me wrong, I am eternally grateful for how measured and rational my partner has been through the early months of raising our little one. I have heard horror stories about mad mothers (and I'm sure theres a few mad fathers out there too) who refuse to buy anything second hand or accept any hand-me-downs.

We've had probably thousands of dollars worth of fancy baby clothes thrown at us from friends who are a bit further down the journey than we are. The OzBargain mumma/papa way should be to avoid getting sucked into the Baby Industrial Complex as much as we can.

this is not a deal, this is normal pricing. Fox 5 at baby bunting is 1699 and if you use cash back plus gift cards thats the way to get it cheaper

  • It's not a deal. You be surprised how fast 3 years go from a baby. The toodler will most likely outgrown the seat .There are only three criteria i think are important.
Is it light and easy to assemble/disassemble?

Are you planning to have another one in less than 3 years old? If yes, go double pram.
Then how important is all in one system with your car?

  • thanks OP, got one instead of the Vista 2, consider yourself kissed in your forehead

  • Bugaboo is more of paying for a brand than practicality. For similar spec, you can get a cheaper one from Redsbaby or Babybee which is just as good (considering size, weight, max capacity basket, ease of folding, quality, etc).

I used to think expensive prams are splurging and the wife is just crazy. But then I thought, we value different things differently. Why can I spend 1k on a laptop but she cannot spend 1k on a pram? If the pram can help her get the two kids to places and it makes her life easier and happy than using a $100 Kmart one, then we solved an issue without argument. We ended up getting a second hand Vista 2 and she couldn't be anymore happier.

  • Just buy one secondhand on FB Marketplace. You’ll save yourself $$$. This public service announcement applies to most baby stuff.
