or ultimate/TCN gc that has officeworks

  • so I'm guessing it has to be an online advertised price?

  • The wording on their website still seems to leave it up to the descretion of the individual stores.

    Excluded:

    • Commercial quantities and pricing (i.e. a reduced price not available to the public and including Apple Reseller Education pricing.)

But Costco is available for members of the public to go shop and purchase from. What that was talking about is education price deals.

      • +3

It's not available to the public. You need to be a member.

        • And that membership is available to any member of the public if they so wish. All you have to do is pay money for it. You don't have to be say a teacher, student or staff member to buy.

Otherwise it would saying those who have a Prime membership from Amazon aren't general members of the public. But they all are.

@hollykryten: You don't need Prime for most of the items on Amazon. Some prices are Prime only and those particular items have been rejected when trying to price beat.

While the wording of the 'guarantee' is pretty clear, let's not kid ourselves and pretend that some manager who takes their job waaaaaaaay too seriously won't refuse a price-beat with Costco

Still taking a risk with some OW staff who will insist that Costco is excluded.

    • Unless they change their wording to include Costco by name or to include price beats for prices where a membership is required to purchase, there will always be that risk.

    • 100 percent agree … one power trip away from ruin

  • I just did it 30/01/24. They beat Costco on an Iphone Pro Max. The Officeworks staff member didn't hesitate at all. Just processed a $157 discount.

    • Did they ask if you were a costco member?

  • Just got rejected today in store 31/5/2024 for an iPhone 15 Pro 256GB price beat.

    • I just walked in last evening and the assistant just hears me say costco and the deal was done. Smoothest PBG experience ever.

Successful price beat Galaxy S24 Ultra with Costco ($2099) to $1994.0 (24/09/2024)

I did it over the phone, super easy and absolutely no hassle, applied instantly.

The store managers are the absolute worst when it comes to these things.

One of them went as far as to create an account in the website I wanted to price beat with, added the product to their cart just to see if they can get a free delivery. Wasted 15+ minutes doing the whole thing before very reluctantly taking 5% off. Absolutely insane.

Made me feel like a criminal for asking for a service that they themselves offer and advertise!!

They always feel the need to go on a power trip. They'll deny you the $50 discount like their life depends on it. End of the day they're getting paid peanuts while their employers make record profits.

So getting a price match with Costco today felt like sweet revenge.

    • Mind you there were people waiting in the queue while the manager was fighting tooth and nail to not give us a discount (and a trainee looking over their shoulder)!

I've had bad experiences with almost all officeworks managers. They won't give you the discount if the product isn't in the same city (forget state).

Absolutely insane customer experience. Shocking seeing where their priorities sit. I'm never going back into the stores after that experience.

People go into brick and mortar stores expecting a better customer experience, now it seems like I can get that from the online stores.

    • I've never had issue when price beating in store.
It is OW policy to include delivery cost when pb, and they need to make sure that item is not OOS.
It's the game rules, I have no issue with it.

The problem with pb over the phone is that they don't accept gift cards. And I want to use my 10% off gift cards.

  • Thanks for all the information. Going to try my luck tomorrow with the iPhone 16 pro. Wondering what gift cards you use ( especially 10%) off. I could only find Cole’s GC at 3.5% off. The officeworks one was only 2%. If you don’t mind what type of gift card and how did you get it to 10%

  • Went to Officeworks Epping ( the Melbourne Epping) and they had one iPhone pro in stock the was also available at local Costco. After they had a quick check on the Costco website they pricebeat by the 5%…was going to try to download Cole’s gift card from Macquarie for another 3.5% however wasn’t sure if it would be instant. As there was only one phone in stock….didn’t bother with the gift card. Very happy as so paid $1643 for the 128gb. No question or drama at all. Thanks for all the advice
