MORE HFC NBN - New MORE Account, Same Address But Same Router Credentials?

Last year we had our NBN provided by MORE using the CBA More offer and my CBA MasterCard.
When that discount expired recently, I ported to a new MORE service using my wife's CBA MasterCard.
(I confirmed with the CSR that this was legitimate use of the CBA offer)

When I received the 'Ready to go!' email today, I noticed that the new router credentials were the same as the ones I received last year.
Are the router credentials tied to the address/NTD or are they tied to the customer??

I did phone customer service, but I couldn't get a clear answer.

PPPoE credentials are tied to your More account via Vocus who is the wholesale provider.

    • Then, in my scenario, two different accounts mine vs my wife (at the same address), should have different PPoE credentials??
This what I expected, but the CSR seemed to say otherwise.

My wife's account was activated today.
My account cancellation date is tomorrow.

I wonder if we will lose connection tomorrow??

      • You shouldn't lose connection. Vocus re-uses the same credentials.

        • So the two separate More accounts, via Vocus, at the same address, WILL re-use the same PPoE credentials?
          Sorry, its a bit confusing.

Can you point me to any webpages where the relationship between More accounts, the Vocus wholesale provider and PPoE credentials is documented?
          Thanks

          • @nige0090: Same credentials.

No link. More just say the credentials get emailed to you.

  • I transferred from MORE to MORE also last week. Credentials remained the same and suspect relates to property.
In fact when moving from Tangerine to MORE (Sister companies), the credentials also remained the same.

    • ok, good to hear you had the same experience.

      • OTHER I setup another place that uses FTTN using a Telstra Modem. It connected just fine without changing the Telstra credentials to the supplied MORE credentials. I then tested my HFC connection and it also connected fine regardless of credentials used. I don't think it uses them anymore?

  • Update - we did lose our internet connection today.
I had a long call with tech support who said that, my new service had never been activated (despite the 'ready to go' email with NBN credentials), due to a "technical problem"
He said they would have to submit a new NBN application and that it could take up to 24 hours for it to be effective.
6 hours later, I got an email with new NBN credentials, i.e. different credential to the email I received the previous day.

With these new credentials, everything seems to be working again.
Hopefully I don't have to speak to their tech support again for the next 12 months.

  • Planning to change to More with the CBA promo, so just wondering how has been the service so far???
just a downside for me is the public static IP, prefer dynamic as normally use dynamicDNS (this to avoid some restrictions by IP), they said they don't offer to swap to dynamic. :S
