I've stopped buying crap from meritline, but I'll make an exception for these.

      That's what they all say.

You haven't stopped buying crap from meritline.

  • Squeeze toothpaste tube against corner of bathroom vanity = free

    • +1

breaking off a part of the vanity = $$$$

      • +1

If you're breaking melamine coated thick particle board, I suggest using a little less force :-)

        • +2

"the short-term lethal dose is on a par with common table salt"

        • Unless you plan on squeezing the toothpaste onto the vanity, scraping the vanity surface into the toothpaste and then ingesting the paste, I suggest it's perfectly safe :-)

(Hint: virtually all coloured/textured particle board is coated in melamine)

        • It's not really melamine, it's melamine resin, a polymer of melamine (and formaldehyde) that is no doubt many times less toxic.

    • +1

This is cheaper than a vanity…

Not really worth it man, I have one and I end up having to unroll it from the thing. Then use the edge of my bench to force the last bits out then using scissors to chop off the head and scrape out the last bit in the tube.

      A true ozbargainer

    • +2

the roll thing is just for first round.

afterwards, you use a hammer, the 'edge' method pales in comparison - this gives you 2-3 uses.

then use a scissors to cut it open another 2 uses (depends on how well you did with the hammer)

      • I disagree with the hammer method, the edge method works extremely well for me. Also the fact you need to buy a hammer or have one lying around,
        - or if there is enough toothpaste left in the tube it will jump out of the mouth of the tube when you hit the tube with a hammer,
        - also the surface area of the hammer's face would pale in comparison to the toothpaste tube's surface area, you'd essentially be pushing the toothpaste around in the tube, unless you had a large enough hammer to hit the damn thing in one go to move the toothpaste towards the mouth of the tube.

Also the other variable to consider is how well you can get that tiny little bit on the end of the tube on to the edge of the bench to 'roll' it towards the mouth of the tube.
But if you cant however the chop and scrape method always cleans up in the end.

        • Hmm.. I would assume anyone who is a tightarse would at least own a set of diy tools. I fix a lot of my own furniture. :)

you don't hammer with the cap open mate. :) there is a technique when you use a hammer, you are thinking about hammering a nail - you use the 'top' side combined with the hammering side.you fold, hammer, fold again, hammer, repeat until desired result.

          the bench rolling is inefficient.

to get that last bit, you cut open the entire toothpaste tube.. then WET your tooth brush, and then go around on the inside of it.

I managed to use an ENTIRE tube of toothpaste that exist in all crevices,
so I know my method > yours. ;)

        • This is an epic OzBargainly conversation.
You guys should write a wiki page on the subject.

        • How about reusing the tooth paste? There's probably enough hydrogen peroxide in the wash back for more resuse!

    • Seriously? Or are you all hamming it up?

  • OK, so I have given in to the OzBargain pressure and finally bought myself one of these. I don't know why, but I'll give it a go. Someone should start a thread "If it wasn't for OzBargain, I wouldn't have bought…" :)

no….. You've fallen for the hype ! This toothpaste squeezer will be nearly as disappointing as an iphone 5, mark my words.

      • +4

i got one too… and we don't have to queue for this piece of plastic.

  • +1

whem will people realise??! this isn't a bargain, it's just a cheap bit of plastic !!!!! grrr.

This device is not really for squeezing toothpaste.

What it does is rolls up the already squeezed floppy end of the tube, so that it's neat and tidy.

And you hang the tube upside down (toothpaste flows down to the nozzle), rather than hanging limply out the top of a cup.

Of course it cannot squeeze toothpaste as cheaply as the edge of the bench. It's a storage device, a bit like a cord winder for your headphone leads.

    • Ok I just watched the video… love those meritline videos. But now I have more questions than answers?! What's the point of that sucker on the back? It doesn't look like you can use it, whilst it is stuck to the wall. Also, will it support a large tube of toothpaste?

      • You can it hangs off the sucker, and it does support a large toothpaste… well for me it does.
You'd be amazed at what other suction type things can hold on to walls.

I never knew random colour was a feature people wanted these days.

    • I've got one - but it's always Green. So not very random.

I've got these last time when it's ON SALE". It's not worth your 79 cents. So easy to fall off and tooth paste tybe slips away easilt from the gadget. Also your tube needs to be THIN and NARROW to use them. May be kid size is OK.

I also bought the "USB battery charger" from Meritline 2 months ago. Worse than crap as the heaily scratched and cheap plastic made charger makes me worry whether it;s destroy my rechargebale battery which is worth few times over that CPT (Cheap Plastic Toy).

Yeap, no more buying CPTs from Meritline.

I got one last time and would NOT recommend this thing. Sound good in theory but unpractical. So in the bin it went.

meritline shit is generally crap… and this is king of it all.

After waiting for months and months - Utter rubbish.

  • anyone else gotton one of these and had a very negitive expirience, would be very nice to know as I am considering purchasing?

    • +1

Dude its 79c.. They are alright keeps everything tidy

  • +1

I bought 3 of these last time they were on and they just do not work for me. I use Colgate in a standard tube and it is a mammoth effort to turn it and get them to work. :(

    • Same here. Trying to turn the damn thing was a killer.

  • +1

I have 2 of these and they work great. I wish I had seen this before the code expired.

  • Damn! I missed this again >.<"
