SVS SB-4000 Subwoofer $2999 (Was $4999) Shipped @ Westcoast Hifi

230

Trying to stop myself from spending more money. Noticed another deal on SVS. This time the SB-4000, $2999 down from $4999

Doesn’t seem to be part of the distributor’s Black Friday deals, as next cheapest seems to be $3775 from Klapp, so quite a nice deal.

1200 watt, Sealed box with a 13.5” driver. Freq. Response 19-310Hz ±3 dB.

Very big box (though smaller than ported), so make sure you have space. 18.3” (465mm) H X 17.8” (453mm) W X 20.9” (530mm) D

Also just shy of 50kg so hit the gym in preparation!

Feel it in your plums!

Edit: Looks like the deal for the SB-3000 is now out of stock. Says to contact them to buy, suggesting backorder may be possible.

Other SVS deals from that post (which unlike the SB-4000 seem to be supplier led, so not retailer exclusive):

Subwoofers:
PB-1000 Pro for $1199 (down from $1749)
SB-1000 Pro for $929 (down from $1349)
SB-3000 Micro for $1299 (from $1899)

BROAD STROKES: PB (ported box) for movies, SB (sealed box) for music. But I'm currently using an SB-2000 (non-pro) for movies and it is great. I previously had a PB-1000 (non-pro) which was great, too.

Since these are pro models, remember the app with which you can (somewhat) tune the frequency response iOS Android

Speakers:
Ultra Towers are $3639 (from $5199)
Ultra Bookshelves are $1679 (from $2399)
Ultra Centre is $1149 (from $1649) - True 3 way centre

Rest of the SVS range with specials throughout

hmm a speaker or a working engine for my car.. hard decision

    • +6

Why not use this as the engine? Ride might be a bit bumpy but you will get there in style

      • I use mine to bait shai hulud - then i get a free ride - works every time

    • +6

Ahh… I see your predicament, you think this is just a speaker. No my friend, a speaker lets you hear, a subwoofer lets you FEEL. A car can only take you so far, but a subwoofer can take you to Mordor!

    • Give it a go. One up this guy

$3000 and 1200 watts. That's about what my 5.1 system is.

If you think this comment is coherent you don’t need one of these anyway, so no stress.

Also good for leveling a concrete pour just saying

Go hard or go home. Either this one or nothing.

For that though tons of the money is tied up in those expensive amps. Subs don't need high end amps to drive because it doesn't affect their sound quality.

It's about moving air so they need big long stroke drivers. All of these are only 13 inch which is relatively small for subs.

Sealed subs are harder to drive than ported so generally will either produce a lot less output, narrower range or cost more due to bigger amps. To drive my 2 sealed subs I had to have a wired 20 amp dedicated line put in because they needed so much power.

It's funny seeing this 1k above the normal selling price… COVID tax

    • It is what it is, but out of interest, what did it used to go for?

  • No way i can fit this in my room until we move house. Put the pc4000 up at this price and u will have my attention :)

    • I may be wrong. I have no insider knowledge. But I don’t think the stock levels for PC4000 have been particularly healthy since the BOGO deal last year.

yeh and that deal has ruined it for me, after clef cancelled my order i cant bring myself to ever consider paying close to rrp again for one :/

And I screwed up bad by not purchasing B&W 702 S2 when they were available for $5.5k on sale. the S3 are so much more expensive its hard to justify purchasing unless they get a massive discount one day.

This is the same predicament I am in. After that BOGO sale that I missed out on. I can't get myself to buy svs till I get a deal like that again.

@lonewolf: I wouldn’t ever expect that deal again. They did it because they had way too much inventory of an oddly shaped (and not particularly popular) sub.

It made the units cheaper than in US, suggesting they lost money.

Next closest time might be if they have heaps of stock when the next (yet to be announced) refresh is out.

            • @Morien: Yup, This is what i was told by the store as well that the sale will probably never happen again, regardless its still tough to bear :). Saying that i have far too many subs and cant fit anymore in.

              • @lonewolf: It was crazy, hey?
Deal was announced on a Friday, was something like "lasts until 4 weeks or until stocks last" and they didn't even last through the weekend.

                • @Morien: Deal was announced elsewhere before it came on here, I didnt realise it was on here otherwise i would have bought it quicker. Once it came on here, it was going to die a quick death.
