If you have Yello from CBA, you can save another $100

    • Can you elaborate on how?

      • Go to your comm bank app, check rewards section. Its called Yello now. See if you're eligible. I didn't even know, just checked and I am eligible. Go to all offers and there is an offer, 10% off Samsung.com prices. Click on Claim offer.

        • Ah I see. Samsung Yello site has this listed at $1499 (less 10%). I think price matching isn’t an option when using the Yello EPP?

          • @garethds: If you get samsung to price match, they might not apply yello discount. Please let us know the result if you give it a try.

            • @sedi: Samsung doesn't price match

              • @abs898: Can we try Jb to price match and pay via gift cards in store?

                • +2

@sedi: I see why not. I procematched 2 weeks ago with the good guys and paidnwith gift cards

@abs898: I once price matched a dishwasher at TGG and the rep said, I have never heard of Appliances online 😂

@sedi: They are a part of winnings. Just jump on chat

no the 990c wont be a black friday deal, but the 930c, thats gonna be proper cheap *wink *wink

    • +1

      Cheaper than $674?

  • Do you guys think, on Black Friday sale, will it be going any lower than this ?

    I hope it will

  • Buy and hodl, refund if the price drops. Just treat it like that unopened bag of snacks staring at you 😉

    • Will they do that for a "price match" product ?

      • +1

Price match doesn't change the return policy

        • You mean refunding the difference policy ?

          • +1

@Love Cheap: No the comment meant you can return the unopened box if price drops and repurchase it

And I said, a price match doesn't change any of the return policies. You can still return it even if price matched

    • Why wouldn't you just purchase at the new price then refund the new item using old receipt? I don't think most stores record serial numbers.

Or in my case use purchase protection (30 days) on Amex Credit Card.

No need to sit there waiting to open it.

I’ve pulled the trigger. Was thinking about getting the Sony HT-A7000 but for this price I think it’s worth it. Hesitated a bit but after adding up how much would it cost to build same setup from Sony I didn’t think twice.

My main reason for considering Sony was the tv as a speaker feature but at this price point it’s gonna be more than decent even without it.

Price matched with JB, however appliancesonline had it marked as out of stock so I went with appliancentral for a bit more. The sales rep also told me that they don’t usually price match with appliancesonline because some units are import units or something (might have fooled me there but fk it 😂).

Plugged it all in and the sound is really goood.

    • This deal was posted at 11pm, and youre saying you oulled the trigger at 0100and have it all plugged in now?

Now unless ozb's comment timestamps are way off, theres something (profanity) going on here.

      • I think they meant they bought it for a similar price from a previous deal

      • The deal was available earlier yesterday. I found it around 1pm and got it from jb around 4pm before the shop closed. The only downside as I said was the fact that they didn’t show it as “in stock” so jb wouldn’t match it.

I've had several Sony soundbars over the years and they don't even come close to Samsung for audio quality in my opinion.

      • +2

Thanks for your opinion. It's hard to compare those 2 in store but I'm really happy with the quality of the Samsung. Now just need to get some stands and that'll be it :)

        • That's true, but you made the right decision :)

  • +2

It's showing up as $1174 at the moment

      Thank you. Price updated

    • What was it before?

This is a good deal. Have been deciding between Sonos Arc ultimate setup and this. Most people have said the Arc is better but I don’t use my TV enough to justify the 3x price difference, and I don’t have any other Sonos products. Also looking to buy a Samsung TV soon so then I’ll be able to use QSymphony.

Also note last time it was around this price a JB Hi-Fi rep commented here saying it was basically cost price, I don’t see Black Friday being cheaper.

    • If you don't use your tv much, why not just buy speakers?

      • Replacing an old soundbar (HW-550), I still use the TV enough, just not enough to justify Sonos.

    • +1

There is a slight chance because even if the retailers sell below the cost price, they get rebates from the manufacturer. And the % increases if they sell more units than agreed.

  • Given this is near ATL, is it really worth $500 more than the Q930C?

    • Better sound quality, better Atmos and more channels. Worth $500 more? Not sure,

      https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/tools/compare/samsung-hw-q99…

      • +1

I really don't want to have to pay to read their comparison. When did that start?

        • -1

My apologies I had a one month subscription leading up to Black Friday, forgot it’s paywalled. As far as I know it’s only for soundbars.

      • +1

Yeah, the q930C is currently and exactly $500 less than this so I'm wondering whether it's worth the difference. Probably not I'd say.

        • Diminishing returns for sure, but if you keep playing that game you just use the TV speakers…

Personally I say worth it for the 990c.

        • where is the q903c $500 less than this? you mean $ 674? ($1174-500?)

Sound wise the 990c has better dynamics than the 930c having heard them side by side, having more channels and a physically larger bar. Whether thats worth $500 extra is upto the buyer.

          • @d4w17dch17d2: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14502431/redir
I think the q990c will be under 1.1k soon.

          • +2

@d4w17dch17d2: Yeah, link as above. 930c is $674 so exactly $500 difference and I'm wondering if it's worth it given its almost double.

            • +2

@anarky: $674 is pretty good. you need to pay 70% more to get to 990c… i would say the 990c is only 30% better so if you can get the 930c for $674 then thats best value imo. 990c is the samsung flagship so pay the premium.. 990c vs arc standalone, 990c wins. add 2x era 300 and sub thats when the sonos will edge out but thats more than double the price.

        • I had the same debate, I bought the q930c.

I figured 930c is a major step up from the built-in tv speakers. If I already had the q930c would I be willing to spend another $500 on a slightly better set of speakers? Answer was no.

I also questioned whether to get the q800 series, but decided the 930c was only an extra ~$200 and the additional rear speakers made it worth it.

          • @Name: Yeah, and most reviews seem to be from an owner of either soundbar but not both so it's hard to tell. From what I can tell, the 990c has a better subwoofer and an increased number of speakers. However, I imagine the quality of speakers in each soundbar would be equal in quality. You're getting more speakers on the 990c, but probably not $500 more.

            • @anarky: yep! and my living room is definitely not optimised for audio so I probably wouldn't get the benefit of the extra speakers anyway. Also I'm not an audiophile so I most likely wouldn't appreciate the difference.

              • +1

@Name: Yeah room size also seems to be a huge factor. If the prices were going to end up a lot closer in the near future then it would definitely be a lot harder to decide. But even @ $1k it would still be $326 more than the current 930c price.

Based on a search of OzB, none of the 930x have been lower than $674, and none of the 990x have been lower than $900 (October this year so you'd have to basically wait nearly another year to get the 990c @ $900 haha).

So the 930c @ $674 is definitely the best valued proposition at least for the foreseeable future.

    • If its the same like Q990B predecessor, i'd say the price will keep going down to sub $1000. But probably not gonna happen this year.

    • To make everyone decision easier I think its not worth $500 more.

If its $250 or less difference then get 990c
If its between $250 to $350 difference get either depending on your room size. Q990c is bigger so might be overkill if you have a small room.
If its more than $350 just get q930c

I've heard both, the difference is not night and day. Q990 have better subwoofer and more channel. if you like Q990 you'll like Q930. If you are disappointed with Q930 then you probably will be disappointed with Q990 as well. Unlike Bose or Sonos, Samsung keep launching many new models every year so Samsung soundbar will get obsolete very quick. Which is why no point on getting the Samsung best of now if you don't really need it.

  • Are there any soundbars with rear/sub speakers that aren’t wireless?

    • +1

Curious why you don't want wireless - it's a big plus for me not needing to have wires running all over the lounge room

      • +2

I'm just guessing off my reluctance. Which is rather than speaker wire I've now got 240v extension cables.

      • I like the aspect of soundbars and think they have come a long way. I don’t really want a big massive amp anymore.

I already have high quality speaker cables running through my walls, rather use them than add another wireless signal in the air at home.

  • Thanks I got JB to price match and then a further 4% off using HCF JB gift cards. All up $1142.39 with next day delivery.

    • Nice! Online transaction? How many gift cards did you end up using?

      • +1

Yep, online transaction via special link which expires in 12 hours.
        I used 2x $500 and 1x $189.99 gift cards (included the $15.99 delivery fee).

  • I wonder if I can get price match with goodguys and use ultimate gift cards to pay it.

    • +2

I was able to get The Good Guys to price match this morning, but I ended up going with JB Hi-Fi because I had a gift card.

  • +3

I bought it from TGG for $1150 today as they price beat Appliance Online.

    • Price Match plus 15% off Ultimate Cards =$998 :).

Be spewing if it goes lower than that this side of Christmas. Considering the 990B 2022 model was on clearance at $950 last month and on Samsung edu store for a bit lower safe to say this should be the lowest in while until 2024 model is announced.
