Marmot Tungsten 2-Person Hiking Tent $284 (Was $579) + Delivery ($0 to Most Areas) @ Snowys

150

This is a great price for a relatively light (though not ultra-light) 2 person 3 season hiking tent.

It is quite roomy for its weight and from a reputable brand.

The Tungsten 2-Person Tent by Marmot is the straight-up solution to fast and efficient camp setups.

Boasting a free-standing design with colour-coded, easy-pitch clips and fly – this tent is faster to set up than the sun takes to set. Come rain, hail, and shine, it has you covered with seam-taping on the full-coverage fly and a catenary-cut floor, preventing water invasion during wet conditions. Solution-dyed fabric aids in reducing water consumption in the manufacturing process, also resisting discolouration from harsh Aussie UV. Owing to the double D-shaped doors, move freely in and out of your outback hangout, and store the loose camp clobber owing to substantial vestibule space.

There’s more where that came from – literally, with interior pockets for storing the snacks and knick-knacks. Plus, bring the ambience to the campsite, thanks to a lampshade cranny for cradling your headlamp.

It takes two to Tungsten – with the Marmot Tungsten 2-Person Tent.

2 x D-shaped doors for easy entering and exiting

Solution-dyed fabrics reduce water consumption

I'd recommend getting a three person tent for two people. Ultra-light tents tend be ambitious with the space requirements. There won't be much room to bring additional gear into the tent.

Is this even UL? There is an UL version of this tent that weighs only ~1.5kg.

      • +3

I wouldn't even call 1.5KG UL tbh. Something like Gossamer Gear The Two ~700 grams would be that.

      • Nah, it isn't. Poor assumption on my end.

  • Don’t need one but looks like a good price and reasonable weight for the size.

  • Wish the 1P UL would go on sale. I have the Naturehike Cloud Up tent which is great for the price but the zip to the entrance is messed up and I can't fix it. Good excuse to upgrade to something lighter that has better zips. I had the Tungsten 1P before and that was great quality but I gave it away. I managed to buy that for $134.99, one of my greatest bargain catches.

    • how do you rate Marmot Tungsten vs Naturehike CU (except price point) ?

      • +1

Tungsten is better but not enough to justify the price difference. Naturehike served me through some heavy wind and rain and some cold night with no problems besides the zip now being (profanity).

        • Thanks @s1Lence, which version of CU you used (20D or 10D) ? I checked and tried Marmot Tungsten 2P at PaddyPillon, and it was really heavy!

@netbirds82: 20D which felt strong and durable. I pitched it in an arctic environment which was full of rocks and woody vegetation with no problems.

It also looks pretty nice, here are some photos. https://imgur.com/a/tKA2Igo

    What about the Catalyst? https://www.snowys.com.au/catalyst-2-person-tent

    Cheaper and larger sleeping area

    • pushing 3kg…

      • Only 400g heavier than the one posted. If weight was an issue then you wouldn’t get the one posted either, you would look for the UL version

  • Not a bad price or weight noting it has two doors/vestibules. Not very wide for two people sleeping…
