    • So it was previously on sale for $79 down from $89, now that special has been increased with the price dropped to $70 from $79. Unless they've never sold them for $89 it all seems ok?

They were selling them previously at $79, now they are advertising $70, with is 11% off.

        The price drop is $9.

So Rhodes and Beckett are currently having an "extra 25% off already discounted stock" sale on their stock that was already "up to 50% off". That makes it overall just 25% off the usual price, despite it being reduced by a previous sale?

        • Yep, that's pretty right. For a start, "up to 50%" can mean that much of the stock is now only reduced by 25% or 26% overall because the original sale was not 50% off everything. An additional 25% doesn't really tell you much other than they want you to think that they now have 75% off (at least some things) which is not possible for any item.

        • Hi everyone, in relation to the conversation over the price discount, the pillows have previously had a discount sale of 10% off the line (retail) price in the past.

This current sale is selling the pillows at 20% off the line price, rather then 10% off an already discounted price (which would work out as being only around 19% off).

        • when did you last sell one at the "line price" ???

        • Before that discount, the last recorded sale of the pillow at line price was on 16/6/12.

        • the pillow at line price was on 16/6/12.

So for 4 months, you have been selling them for $79. That is your normal price.

comparing them to a price other than your normal price is misleading & deceptive and against the law…

          http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

        • None of the scenarios described on the ACCC misleading page are reflective of the scenario here where a discount is applied to a previously discounted price.

Perhaps you should have them update the page; in the mean time, mention that it is your opinion that you are expressing, or provide some evidence the back up your claims.

        • In relation to the comments over the price % discount, the pillow sale will be restarted by todays end and set for another month.

The pillows were already on special when they went on sale, but for a prolonged time, making their current discount less unique.

To counter this the pillows will have a further 10% taken off the price but will still be promoted at being 20% less. When the sale is over they will return to their original line price (i.e. they will have 30% added).

Thanks to everyone for their interest in this sale

  • Similar pillows used to sell - at IKEA - for ~ Au$ 10…

Last time I tried to buy one there, they'd replaced it with something too soft & a variation (possibly the original $9 one I was hoping to find), with an unnecessary (IMO) thick cover.

    Prices started at ~ Au$ 30…

Quality dropped, prices tripled… Not impressed by IKEA for changes to the -original- "high value" product, now replaced by something I won't buy.

Maybe Clark's Rubber can make one cheaper…? :-)

    • cool story bro

the too soft one sounds perfect
