    • +1

ikr tf it better be able to shoot laser beams or rockets

    • This is literally what I said as I read the deal title!

You aren't just paying for the umbrella, you are paying for the after sales support and longevity. This is the kind of umbrella you repair rather than throw away when one of the stems gets bent in the wind.

This is a massive reddit fan favourite, surprised ozbargain isn't on the blunt umbrella train. The build quality is impressive in all honesty.

each brand has different warranty policies and it’s up to the sole discretion of the brand to determine what is and isn’t a warranty

So it looks like their discretion power overrides the the Australian consumers laws!

        • It helps to provide context as to where you are getting this from, I assume just the general information of that website. Blunt is still obligated to follow ACL, the website is just saying that blunt is the one that handles it under manufacturer warranty, this holds true for a lot of products, nothing special going on here.

Hop on the ACL website and do some study on the differences between retailer warranty and manufacturer warranty, that should clear up the confusion for you.

          • @doobey1231:

that should clear up the confusion for you

You're the one confused here so I suggest you hop on rushfaster web site, do your own research and educate yourself regarding their policies.

Blunt is still obligated to follow ACL

That's right nothing special here that justify the $$$ price like you previously pointed out, over inflated rrp doesn't give better warranty under the Australian consumers laws.

Their policies don't really matter as far as warranty is concerned, the manufactures one does - that is the gist of what they are saying. These guys are just reselling the product.

That's right nothing special here that justify the $$$ price like you previously pointed out

I already said what justifies the price, you are choosing to ignore that because its not an on paper benefit, that is totally up to you, but I stand by this company that looks after its customers well after the profit has been made - Theres already a couple comments below attesting to this. The quality also justifies the price, but you wouldn't know because you don't own one, you just read words on a retailer website lol.

              • @doobey1231:

you just read words on a retailer website

So before you buy anything from a retailer do you read the horoscope or do you read their T&C?

Their policies don't really matter as far as warranty is concerned, the manufactures one does

Actually you buy from the retailer not from the manufacturer so It sounds to me that your main hobby here is trolling and making misleading statements.

      • surprised ozbargain isn't on the blunt umbrella train

people here care about value. sure the warranty and longevity is nice, but is it good value tho? it's not like there's anything wrong with regular umbrella.

        • I would consider ~$120 for an umbrella that lasts a life time pretty good value..

          • -1

            @doobey1231:

            pretty good value

Everyone has a different perception of good value, certainly a $120 umbrella is not one of those unless you work in a corporate and you do the tax return and say that you need a $120 umbrella!

            • @billadm: So first you say everyone has a different perception of value, then you go onto present your perception of value as if it is general fact that everyone agrees with. You don't want to pay $120 for an umbrella, thats fair, no one is forcing you. but do the math, 20 years of use boils that umbrella down to $6 per year.

Poor man pays twice as they say ;) (or several times when you consider the abysmal quality of cheap umbrellas)

              • +1

But the K Mart Umbrella is only $6 lol, can buy one every year. you only need to use them for 365 + 1 day for it to be cheaper than that.

i'm sure it's good stuff tho, i would buy one if i had the cash. does look and sound like a quality item

              • @doobey1231:

Their policies (retailer) don't really matter as far as warranty is concerned, the manufactures one does

You don't even understand the difference between buying from a retailer or a manufacturer LOL

          • +1

@doobey1231: it says two years of warranty on the website tho… i know brands that actually have lifetime warranty such as Peak Design and Urth.

            • @dukeGR4: I don't get what you are trying to argue. I am just attesting for the quality and customer service, I have two of these and I stand by them and can vouch for the company as a whole. If you found what you believe is better, then by all means go for it.

              • @doobey1231:

I don't get what you are trying to argue

you're the only one here arguing with everyone who disagree with you.
You like this umbrella, go for it!

              • @doobey1231: not trying to argue with you, you mentioned yourself that it "it lasts a lifetime". I'm merely stating the fact that the warranty is only 2 years if anything goes wrong they legally do not have to help you.

      • I have bought so many of these over the years as they make for a great presents.

  • +7

    Bro, I'd rather get wet.

    • +8

      that's what she said

      • +3

        What you doing step bro?!

        • +2

          IM STUCK IN THE UMBRELLA!

  • +7

Buy once, buy well. Certain occupations can claim it as a tax deduction too (school teachers for example). I love my Blunt Umbrella.

    • +1

claim it as a tax deduction

      It's tax payers' money!

      • -2

That’s a common misconception. Since we have significant debt, taxpayers’ money is only used to pay the interest these days. So if there is any money around to pay back taxpayers, then we borrowed it (or, more likely, printed it)…

        • +2

taxpayers’ money is only used to pay the interest these days

That's right but it's still tax payers' money drops that is used in the system.
What else I can say is that only employees pay tax while starting from self owners up to the big corporate they all scam the tax system because they can buy (for example) a $100,000 car and declare it as part of the business expenses!

          • @billadm: not a scam if the tax code allows for it. i'm sure there's a policy reason behind it. \

    • +5

I've never understood this mentality - on this basis isn't every deal posted "advertising"? They're normally $179, so this is a significant saving.

      • -7

        They're normally $179

They are normally $189 and I could sell umbrellas and say they are normally $500 and drop the price down to $200, it still doesn't make it look like a deal.
But you're more than welcome to buy it.

        • +3

Anyone that owns one can attest to this being a good deal. You are paying for quality here, these aren't a two year throw away umbrella.

  • Thanks bought 8

  • +4

i picked this one up earlier this year, heavy SOB, but it's great if you require coverage. extremely well built.

also have their folding model from the early 2010s, lost the plastic cap on top of the umbrella and they sent me a replacement free of charge. folding model has also been blow out multipletimes and returned back to its normal shape with no issues.

expensive? hell yes. worth it? i'd say so

    • +4

I lost the cap from my Blunt metro I bought many years ago, no receipts or proof of purchase but they sent out the replacement part free of charge too. Really did not expect anything to come of it.

  • This is perfect timing, after watching ip man and other Kung Fu movies I can now with confidence replace my sword with an umbrella. Winning

  • +2

Nice, I own several in different sizes and these are really great umbrellas. Got the navy, colour looks great.

  • Price is now $129 :-(

  • Thanks OP. Got mine for $101. Won’t need to buy cheap umbrella every time it folds and breaks in storm. Sometimes in life it’s worth paying extra for better quality that lasts the long haul. Aliexpress and Kmart are good for some things but not everything.

  • I can buy 8 Aldi sports umbrellas and a carton of beer for this. :-)

  • I've got this and Davek umbrellas. Both excellent quality, but you'll need to get used to the extra weight. Blunt definitely has the edge as a weapon - the Davek feels strong, but the Blunt feels indestructible.

That said, Davek have a half price loss replacement guarantee, which has come in handy for a perpetual umbrella forgetter like me.

  • Blunt umbrella's are amazing, I have 3 of them.
My first one had some issues after 6-7 years of use.
Sent it back to them they fixed it free of charge, no receipt needed.

They ask a high price, but its a quality product. and I was over the cheap(er) umbrella's failing when you needed them most.
    Well worth the investment.
