  • I have a different usage case: my 4 cup Bialetti (actually stainless) is too small to fit over a gas stove. Could this be able to solve my problem?

Maybe these? (haven't used them; can't vouch for them).

      • Awesome, those look like exactly what I need. For what they are and what they do, there is a limit to how bad they can be for that price.

        • I use the same/similar rings. They get a little discoloured over time, but do the job for the most part.

  • Good for Alkimos Residents

My induction cooktop doesn't like turning on if the pan is too small. I'm not in the market for this anyway, but I'd worry that 13cm wouldn't work with my cooktop.

FYI The James Hoffman moka pot method uses this over a gas stove to get better results.

  • why not use a stainless steel pan instead…

It will work, but at 130mm the induction plate is sized to transmit heat to a smaller vessel like a moka pot. The larger frying pan will radiate more heat into the air.

      • the size of the "hotplate" makes no negligible difference in heat transfer and at least the frying pan can be used for other purposes

        • The whole frying pan heats up, therefore it will radiate heat over a larger area than that which is in contact with the moka pot.
