Is it still like $300 a day to hire a car? Haven't checked since the insane prices during covid.

    • depends if you are in the group against which insurance is legally allowed to discriminate (young and/or male)

Europcar still burning customers like they always have?

    • Out of interest, who'd you generally go for? Renting commercial from local branch has been good since their price is significantly lower than others, and that Hertz gave us the wrong vehicle last time.

      • I haven't rented cars for years. I just keep seeing discussions in various forums including here and WP about Europcar burning people.

I just got burned using Europcar. We had a short flight delay in the evening and when we arrived at the airport, their office was shut and they were non-contactable. We were stranded at the airport at 11pm. All the other car hire places, including Budget and Avis were still accepting customers from the same flight. It was impossible for us to find another car hire at that hour, and it really ruined the start of our trip. We had already been charged for the booking.

I will NEVER EVER use Europcar again and do not recommend anyone use them for the entirety of their existence.

One other thing, if you do wish to take the chance of being burned and still choose to use Europcar, you must have the physical credit card you used to pay for your booking to pay for the security deposit. They will not accept paywave for a security deposit.

      • One more thing, it is my personal responsibility to society to educate people on why Europcar should burn and no one should ever use them again.

  • Any Lambos?
