"One 25c shopping bag thanks. No thats all." "Yes I am from Ozbargain, how did you know?"

or a $1 (1/2 price $2) SIM - unlocks a world (another round) of freebies lol

      • $2 sims usually require purchase of a plan to work. Wouldn't recommend.

Boost SIM Deals here are more profitable after cashback. (~$5 profit each, 65GB, delivered. Bought 3 yesterday for $30 profit💰)

Better to get something you will use or eat, like a small fruit/vegetable or something cheap on sale.

I've been doing these "1c spends" for many years😉
        Posted this Deal: 16000pts for 8 x 1c spend

        • damn, I haven't seen that kinda deal in any of my account(s) in the past 2 years (having said that deal is also over 2 years old) - guessing Woolies isn't gonna make that kinda blunder in recent times.

Agreed the $2 SIMs require purchase of plan but you can avoid buying a plan by either contacting live chat/phone support to activate instead and they don't process payments. Agreed on Boost - I've been buying them regularly as well but to me, spending that $1 is pretty immaterial but quite risk free compared to issues that can happen with Boost:

          • Cashback gets declined for whatever reason or reason not given.
          • SIM doesn't arrive, or goes to Post Office due to a foolish driver/carrier and you require ID to pickup and you possibly referred to the FAQs and used a "friends" details
          • You forget to activate within 28-30 days and risk the cashback

Please let me know if there's any other risks anyone sees.

As for something to use/eat, as we all know here on OzB the value of that $1 lol. Also like Doordash 60% off new sign ups.

          • @nsingh21: There have been some great Offers - especially for those with more than 1 Rewards card😉 Earnt 26,000 bonus pt in 1 shopping trip, for spending less than $10.

Never encountered those risks over so many Boost cashback Deals for over a year. Always received SIM & cashback.

Only bought 1 $2 SIM. Used to qualify for use of Telstra Plus. Without an "active service" wasn't able to access over 100k points. Solved by using that SIM & selecting to choose plan later. Got a 5G phone with the points.

            • @INFIDEL: Agreed that - I've been doing Boost for 1yr+ as well without 1 rejection. Having said that the risk is still there and $1 is pretty immaterial and a safer extension to Boost.

How did you accumulate Telstra Plus points if your service wasn't active? I thought the points are collected through payment for eligible services?

              • +1

@nsingh21: Wasn't a requirement to have an active Telstra service then. Had 2 Telstra ID from years ago.

Deals here for Telstra Plus points were the only way I accumulated points.
                eg 20,000pts for booking accommodation…
Booked 5 separate nights in Noosa in the cheapest (YHA @$183 for 5n) 5min walk to beach. Contacted the hostel & combined in 1 room for 5 nights. Place was almost empty. Earnt 100,000pts💰

Conditions changed last year. Boost services (using Telstra ID) don't count.
I commented about that in Telstra Plus Deal. Ozbargainer said to buy a $2 Telstra SIM… Works on Telstra Plus as an "active service", for about 6 months. Then repeat. But I've spent all my points.

                • @INFIDEL: Thanks, the Telstra stuff probs ain't for me atm.

                  • @nsingh21: Have rarely paid (much) for phone & data services over many years. Wrote a Wiki on how to get the best value from Telstra SIMs - over 7 years ago. Probably my last Telstra service.
So Boost (on full Telstra) suits me!

  • Yes got this offer today

    1 Grape please.

    • +1

am now motivated to go find the cheapest item possible in Woolies! lol

    • +1

Scales don't detect as below saleable amount.
Tried with a small mandarin. Was told too light. Bought a slightly larger mandarin for 34c for the bonus points.

I sometimes take a few items to register to see which will work for lowest price.

      • hmm, 1 Chilli is $0.14

        • What about the min purchase when buying online to get that price?
Otherwise likely to strike problem with scales in store.

          At a quiet time…
Take a few low price items to self checkout & see which is the cheapest that works. Staff were helpful when I did that.

          • @INFIDEL: Defs won't buy that online. For in-store the price looks to be EA and not per kg (i.e. sold by weight), so I assume there shouldn't be an issue. Having said that, my best value purchase is hands down $1 (1/2 price) SIM lol. Return on investment of $20-50+ per purchase.

            • +1

@nsingh21: A BOOST SIM initially cost more, but after cashback, gives a far higher ROI!

Still has the same ability to receive SMS / Calls for Deals on meals etc for about 6 months, but with added data & outgoing calls for 28d! Plus profit💰

My household wifi operates off up to 3 FREE Boost per month. Can't stream on a $2 SIM😉

There used to be $2 SIM Deals - free, including delivery. Not very interesting now.

              Saving that $1 for the 14c chillies🌶

Its not really worth the time trying to get the cheapest item. So I head for the fruit & veg section as usual. Healthier than the 50c chocolates.

              • @INFIDEL: I completely agree mate BOOST SIM has much higher ROI - hands down, no question.

But if I had $1 to spend, I'd rather buy the $1 SIM than buy a chilli, paper bag, choc or a fruit. After claiming the $10, you can come back to buy as many fruits as you'd like.

Problem with Woolies cameras on self serve makes it harder to do 2 different transactions in 1 time as the camera will flag the unscanned items left and you have to call the attendant to tell them I want to buy the remaining on separate receipt but wouldn't stop me from spending $11 one go ($1 + $10 bonus).

Another argument that someone could have thrown against me is that the $2 SIMs can also be obtained for free hence no need to purchase from Supermarket altogether, to which I actually have no answer to, agree there.

                • +1

@nsingh21: Did mention $2 SIM Deals - free, including delivery. Or try airport & CBD Hotels etc.
Those Deals are posted occasionally. I reply "Why bother? Order a Boost - it's delivered free"😂

Does get a little chaotic when scanning multiple Rewards cards for 1c min purchases. Have tried with new cameras - staff assisted when register refused.

                  I don't spend immediately.
Usually only use card with best offer & wait for good offer on other cards - to use their credit later. All cards have Rewards Dollars to use.

Only needed milk last week (on a 1c min spend), scanned Rewards card for this $10 credit. Surprised to find $40 already on card since May! Will scan next 4 weeks for 4 x 500pt.
Another card recently received 25,000pts. Also trying banking for Christmas for the bonus offer.

Not spending much at moment, as stocked up in Everyday Extra points offer (3000 or 4000pts to try for 2 months, paying a $7 fee). Received 13,000 bonus points + monthly 10% discount. Combined with 5400 pts for $100 spend.

So many points yet to use!

                  • @INFIDEL: Haha same here, I have atleast 5 cards each with balances - dunno why I keep trying to save them (for what, idk!)

Because I've been racking up 10x points on $500 variable load this week, I'm starting to keep proper track now to ensure I spend all within the 18 month period to risk forfeiture. On the bank for Christmas, yeah, just switched (not because I was targeted for points on my main card) but I intend to use up all my VISA Activ points instead of doing $10 at a time

Got this offer a week ago on almost unused account.
2000 bonus pts showed on receipt.
(Last used May for 1000 bonus pt for 1c)

Now another 2000 bonus pts on that account…
