Best Sim Card for Visitors

My parents are visiting from overseas for around 40 days this coming holiday season and I need a cost effective SIM card option for the two of them. There seem to be a lot of options with up to 30 day expiry but that would require them to recharge a second time with a week left of their visit which is a bit wasteful.
So what are their options for cost effective SIM cards with around 40 day validity, if any?

Kogan / Catch Connnect / Lebara has 90 day plans. Or at least I think they used to…

You could also just buy 4 sets of Boost SIMS at a profit? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/boost-mobile-45-pre-pai… You will have to simply discard the phone number after the first sim expires

    Boost Mobile: $20.20 Cashback on 65GB 28-Day SIM for $17 ($3.20 Profit) @ Cashrewards

Just buy another one before the 28 days is up. These deals are never ending.

  • Everyone has canned their 42 day expiries (Telstra and Optus both used to offer them) in favour of 4 weeks. Probably just going to have to suck it up, unless they are going to other countries too where a global roaming SIM would be useful.

Considering there are $10 a month plans these days, spending $20 to have service is pretty cheap.

  • First of all, most plans are 28 days recharge these days anyway (yes, there are still a few 30 days plan around but the majority is 28 days), so 40 days is almost 1.5 recharge cycle.
If they're visiting, they would likely be using the SIMs mainly for data and probably don't care so much about their Australian numbers anyway. In which case, just use four Boost mobile SIMs (which you can easily obtain at a profit).
If they do care about keeping the same Australian number, just port to any other cheap SIMs on promotion (usually costing no more than $10 for another 28 days) when the Boost SIM runs out.

  • Thanks all, I guess 4 x boost cards it is!

    • Don't forget to read the terms. Main one being sims must be activated within 30 days of ordering, so you'll need to factor that in.

      • Yea I did see that. basically means that I'd need to buy SIM cards twice and there's no guarantee that the sale would be on in a month's time.

  • i'm hunting 3 months for visitors…kogan used to have good plans on sales but seems gone now

    • I just took up Felix Mobile today (can be physical or eSIM), half-price for 3 months via Instagram (follow them and you should get the offer).
$12.50 PM for 3 months for 25GB each month (part of Vodafone).
