The entire point of "Good Old Games" is that they're old games. There are plenty of other alternatives to Steam to buy new games (eg, Green Man Gaming).
They changed their name just to gog. This was done so they could sell newer games and not confuse potential buyers.
They have a number of new indie titles now, but none of the big publishers will agree to:
1: No DRM.
2: No region locks/pricing.They had enough trouble with Witcher 2, despite being developed by a sister company:

They are getting there. Have been plenty of new release indie games, as well as several DRM free AAA titles that are only a few years old (Far Cry 2, Assassins Creed etc), or not even that (Alan Wake). I can see them eventually having more when publishers realize GOG is a great place to sell extra copies of their games post release eg 6 months to a year after.
I like how all their good franchises these days come from (western) studios they acquired instead of in house. FF has fallen very far.

I really wish GOG would expand their game selection a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love it that you can find all manner of older, and DRM free games that can be sometimes hard to find (digitally), but they would provide some pretty awesome competition for Steam if they had some more recent, and popular titles.
