These are technically the "Asian" version of the games, with Japanese voice and Chinese + English subtitle options, so you'll have to set up a region specific accounts if you wish to buy any DLCs.

For those who are not so familiar with the series, the Super Robot Wars games are tactical RPGs that features crossover of wide ranges of mecha anime series (from mainstays like Gundam, to more old school and niche series, and sometimes series that barely even qualify as mecha), that weaves together their settings and events into an original story for each game… Though sometimes less weaving together, and more excuse plot handwaving.

You can refer to these pages below, to see what series are featured in each:

Each game has its own completely independent story, so you don't need to play any other games in the series to jump straight in, and you can play them in whichever order you like if you get them both.

This is the cheapest I've personally seen for physical copies of these games. In the past, even during "sales", they've been something like AUD $70+ each at online stores such as Play-Asia.

  • Have a casual interest in the Super Robot genre and I'm keen to give the games a go. Are the games collectibles?

    • I don't know about collectibles as such, but I think this is probably the best way to get into these games, if you want to follow along with the story (without having to mess around with emulators and fan translation patches).

If you want to get them (Super Robot Wars V/X/T) digitally, you'd have to go through the trouble of setting up an Asian account and getting the appropriate digital storefront credits for them. I believe they're also region locked for the Steam version, which has its own set of hassles if you want to get around that.

The cheapest English-language entry point for the series is probably Super Robot Wars 30 on Steam, which is available worldwide. But the impressions I've seen is that the game's a bit on the bloated side, relative to the series standard?

  • Been wanting to get super robot war 30 for ages but couldn't find a deal, looks like either of these will do

    • That's a shame…. I bought it for under $50-40 on steam not long ago….

      • I wanted the switch version for portability :/

        • ah, ok…

  • Somebody set up us the bomb! Main screen turn on!

  • On one hand, I really want this because I know how expensive these are.

On the other, I tried getting into it and it was kinda boring compared to the FE series.

  • Fark me, i love this franchise. Go and watch a movie and missed this deal.

  • This is a bloody good deal, a shame I missed this one.

  • There are threads (can't remember where I saw it, google it) on how to get srw T and V (digital) for ~30 ea from the hongkong NS store when its on sale. Got mines about 1.5 years ago at that price.

    • I've seen some mixed messages regarding the possibility of buying things from the Hong Kong eShop website using foreign credit cards?

But anyway for those who want to try their luck on the Hong Kong eShop:
Super Robot Wars V. (Currently at normal price of HKD $499 == AUD $100.)
Super Robot Wars X. (Currently discounted to HKD $98 == AUD $20.)
Super Robot Wars T. (Currently at normal price of HKD $499 == AUD $100.)

      All of them have
      對應語言: 英文 (Languages: English)

The basic process for setting up additional eShop accounts would be as described here.
