Anyone Own a Chiq Chest Freezer? Need Opinions

So we're looking at chest freezers ATM and came across the Chiq brand, not much action on Product Reviews so thought I'd ask here.
I saw one down at Betta Electrical (?) which advertised using inverter technology and had an over 5 start power rating.
Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the brand and how the quality stacks up against more well known brands.

Cheers

Re-badged OEM China made, so no real difference to Hisense, Polar, Kogan, Haier, Mistral, Teco, etc

Our Hisense 500L only lasted 2.5 years, but we have 12 and 15 year old Westinghouses still operational - anecdotal of course

  • Have had a fridge for five years plus two TV's for two years

    • How did you keep your food cold before that?

      • Never heard of Coolgardie Safes?

      • Tomato sauce in the pantry.

  • I have 3 CHIQ fridges/freezers and they are so damn good!

I am usually the same person that keeps it safe with known brands but someone introduced me to CHIQ and I love love love them. They also have a great customer service line, they helped me with a warranty claim for a handle with no hassles at all.

    I got 2 x models CSH379NBSL2 and I got another fridge/freezer combo as well.

My first Chiq fridge/freezer is still going strong after 5 years with no hassles at all.

That's the hybrid fridge/freezer i looked it. it has a huge internal capacity. Do you use it as a fridge or freezer?

      • I have 2 of them

I use one as a fridge and one as a freezer. Keep in mind they dont have door storage but I am very very happy with them.

CHIQ is a sub-brand of Changhong, which is the oldest appliance maker in China.

Not quite, I believe that the same products are branded Changhong in China and CHIQ outside.

I reckon part of the marketing was to change the name to something more palatable to western market.

      Changhong > CHIQ
      Great Wall Motor > Haval
      Lucky-Goldstar > LG

If only Chinese car companies would spend a few $$$ on marketing, their car sales would shoot up.

Ford has the Mustang. We have the Jaguar and the Viper. BYD has the Dolphin and the Seal.

Actually the BYD Seal performance model with 390kW and 670Nm and 0-100km/h 3.8 seconds for under $70k is pretty bloody impressive.

  • FWIW I have a Chiq fridge I bought last year and it's great! Power consumption 1/3 of the 20yo fridge it replaced. Reasonably quiet - not amazing but not annoying.

  • Great timing - been lookin at these at goodguys and appliances online… they are the cheapest, which is usually to me a warning…

    Been looking at this one
Westinghouse 145L Chest Freezer WCM1400WE for few bux less. 4 star rating.

  • I have a full upright and bar fridge by them for a bout 1.5 years. The bar fridge is great because it doesnt have a freezer compartment.

The upright was simple and cheap so i am happy its lasted so far.
