I had one of these for many years (or a similar older model) that I also bought from Aldi. I was really happy with the camera and the quality was good enough to pick up small details. Saved my backside in a couple of insurance claims.
The plastic on the windscreen mount did become fragile over time and recently snapped beyond repair. That's the only major concern that I had. The camera also used Mini USB rather than Micro or USB-C, but hopefully this has been updated in the years since I purchased it.
I don't see an issue with Mini USB on electrical items that are designed to be permanently plugged in.
Oh yeah, for sure. Not a huge issue. Just more inconvenient when I needed to export the footage to my PC and I didn't have an SD card reader. Had to find a Mini USB cable to plug it into my PC and didn't want to un-route the cabling from in my car.
Aldi previously sold this same model for $80 nearly 4 years ago: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/516055
Any dashcam is probably better than none in the event of a crash where footage would be an advantage, but cameras are really not Garmin's strong suit. Also, this is a very old design that doesn't use a modern WDR sensor, the phone-style form factor with the big screen and ungainly mount is unnecessarily large and super obtrusive hanging from your windscreen, and the rear camera quality is apparently pretty bad. I'd be looking for better options.
If you're after good performance/dollar, Viofo products are usually the ones to beat; A129 for single camera, and A129 for the front/rear combination. That said, the A129 is $240 so it's not exactly price parity.
$79.99 on 13 Feb 2021.
I got 2 in both cars. Not worth spending money on these. The windsceen holder is cheap built comes off in hot weather and eventually broke.
For a dashcam with a reversing camera, it does the job okay. But $100 is too much when it was previously cheaper.
Possibly not a great one to get, given the Product review ratings: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/uniden-igo-cam-345…
Also, available for cheaper, $59 ($54 with coupon): https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224513931533
