Is this the famous mills organisation of ebay er…."imfamy" a few years back? I think I recall the baum ag brand on the product the ebay seller screwed me over with. (It took folks a bit of work to identify the seller as mills, through company searches and stuff).
If so..I'm surprised that a mainstream bricks and mortar retailer is involved.
A quick google of whirlpool mills ebay brought some nasty memories flooding back…. "Mills International Trading" ABN:45 117 885 828 trading as AGR machinery sales
Folks indicate that agr mutated into edisons on ebay…. and perhaps other pseudonyms.
It it is the same mob supplying woolworths, I sure hope their "warranty" credibility is better than what I personally experienced with the $1005 honda 13HP pressure washer I bought in 2010…. with a waterpump failure shortly after purchase…. with only evasions and nil responses from mills t/a AGR trading.
Whirlpool shows I was far from an orphan!

    • Still salty 13 years later. Ouch! :(

Certainly am…. when a trader treats me with absolute contempt….. I remember it!

Reminds me of Sydney tools online, that sold me a "quality" battery charger that was supposed to output up to about 1.2KW, so you could live jumpstart cars, diesels, small truck engines when the battery is dead flat. It was a big forker, the weight of an old style heavy welder…. I presume it's got a monster transformer in it, though I was worried for a while it had 4 bricks in it.
They sent it to me, and to cut a long story short, it was DOA, I advised them, after numerous attempts at meaningful contact they refused me authority to open it to check all was connected, and I had to pay to return it "for testing" Freight was about $100.
It eventually came back (I was amazed they sent it to a reputable entity for assessment, obviously they had no staff with skills)… and the 3rd party report stated internal connections not connected.
The good news is I ended up with the unit that was more expensive than it should have been, the bad news was that unless I took them to court, they wouldn't pay for my return freight …. despite it being doa, faulty manufacture, and my offer to break the seal and check the wiring, which they refused.
That one was only about 3 years ago.

Each to their own values…. but to me, someone deliberately, knowingly screws me over…. and treats me with contempt… I don't forget.
If someone is broke, on hard times, or there are extenuating curcumstances… I can forgive and forget at times, but not for scumbags.

Ahhh… I see it's one of those "sold and shipped by…. (insert 3rd party name here)"
I guess this likely means woolworths can wash their hands of any warranty liability… in which case…good luck purchasers!

I've looked on some of these deals with cynicism… eg kogan "sold and shippped by third party"…. though many people would already have formed an opinion on kogan customer service…..

But for woolworths to be entering this level of marketing quality comes a a big surprise to me. It modifies my likelihood to purchase from woolworths.

    • Seems like Woolworths and bunnings marketplace are the same with their 3rd party partners, shite.

      • And Myer too!

Buy a ryobi or ozito least your warranty will be covered for a few years at a similar price

  • Agreed…. they would have a warranty that was meaningful.

Buyer beware of this company - BaumrAG are a front company for David Mills.

See this whirlpool thread for more details - many complaints of dealing with him and his businesses

  • Australia is supposed to have very strong Consumer Protection laws….so where are the authorities here?

    • Buried under a mountain of dodgy operators just like this lot. Until they're given more resources, and much stronger enforcement options, we'll just see more of this behaviour.

  • Get your woolies worth!

Massive year on year profits, gets in bed with this horrible company. "the fraud-proof people"

  • My issue with Baumr-AG is they discontinue the battery model and don't provide any option for replacing them. The Edisons support department recommended that I buy the latest models of the Baumr-AG tools that I have if I just want to replace the battery. So, in a couple of years, you may not be able to replace any failing batteries and will need to buy a whole new tool again. Worse if you have a number of tools using the same battery model.

The tools themselves have been quite good though. I bought them in 2018 and they're still working fine now after 5 years of infrequent use. I have a 40v battery leaf blower and really like the variable trigger control, which is not available in the Ozito models at the similar price point. The whipper snipper has been quite good too, but I haven't used that much at all in the last couple of years.
