  • Honestly, probably better off getting an 8bitdo ultimate which jumps on a decent sale every now and then.

Reputable brand, Amazon au refund/buyers protection, charging dock, better support.

    • AFAIK only the bluetooth version of the 8bitdo has hall effect sensors… which introduces unacceptable latency.

        does it introduce latency? Perhaps
        Unacceptable latency? Strong disagree

any latency there is is completely unrecognisable. I'm a PC gamer at heart using keyboard and mouse with top end hardware specs.
When i want to relax a bit i play on the couch with my 8bitdo ultimate…..i cant notice any latency, especially when comparing to my pc keyboard/mouse setup. So i really don't think "unacceptable latency" is a fair statement. I also own more than 1 8bitdo ultimate (bought them when they were on sale). The people i play couchplay games with also can't notice any latency.

Yes - Unacceptable latency. The polling rate for the 8bitdo ultimate on PC is 200Hz. The polling rate for this Flydigi Vader 3 Pro is 500Hz.

That is 2.5x the Polling Rate and you're absolutely tripping if you think that this is unrecognisable.

You would have to have zero experience gaming whatsoever to think that the difference between 200Hz and 500Hz polling rate is "unrecognisable".

@Gamer Dad Reviews: Not tripping, just my opinion based on first hand user experience, which trumps opinion based on a spec sheet.

You would have to have zero experience gaming whatsoever to think that the difference between 200Hz and 500Hz polling rate is "unrecognisable".

Evidently…based off of my extensive gaming experience and personal experience of using the 8bitdo this is wrong.

          • @Gamer Dad Reviews: Keep in mind I think the latency difference is 3ms vs 4ms, so both will feel fluid for a controller. There's also autoaim elements (and soon, AI modelling of input to better anticipate actions in progress, already in use for cloud gaming) to consider that all come together to make both feel very responsive.

200Hz+ for a controller is very responsive, as you're not articulating the thumbstick in the same precise and granular way as a mouse. The jump to 500Hz with current peripheral design is more about keeping up with monitor refresh rates to ensure more recent polling on display refresh. TVs will start to offer 240Hz soon, despite most content being miles behind that.

The bluetooth version of the 8bitdo also has 2.4G connection, you don't have to use bluetooth. Apparently the type of hall effect sensors in the Flydigi Vader 3 are better than the 8bitdo, newer technology or something. Probably not a huge difference.

        • The key figure I'm seeing is a 500Hz polling rate which is a huge step up, but no idea how stably this performs.

This looks like a great controller and still uses Xbox layout of buttons!
I would get this for PC over 8bitdo, but if primarily for switch get the 8bitdo as the layout is orientated for switch.
Tried the OT6 code, doesn't work

  • There's a whole bunch of other listings for the same controller at lower price points. e.g. https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005916073835.html

Are they not legit or something?

Shipping + that’s the Vader 3 not the pro model

Code expiring, but this offer could make the deal better tomorrow :)

    • Yea I get -$15 (5aud off for every 30aud), total price ~$85 shipped. Definitely considering it.
