  • Where's the login page

    • +4

You need to go to their app and create an account, then login and redeem.

Pretty easy as going thailand in 75 days so this is good for me.

      • 1GB isn't a lot of data but sufficient for checking OzBargain, emails, and messaging!

        • +8

          why emails and messaging?

        • +1

1 gbs is pretty sufficient for quick check and goggle map… unless planning to streaming porn while roaming

          • @thomalfa: Google Maps is quite data intensive.

If you use offline maps (eg. there are some good ones,
and even Google offline maps), then you need even less data.

1GB during travels is fine for me,
for a couple of weeks or so,
just for checking Emails & chats.

However, Google Maps has a lot of 'rich data',
so it's also hard to live without Google Maps,
eg. Google reviews, shops/restaurant opening times, etc.

            • +5

@whyisave: I use Google Maps a lot (almost local guide level 8) and my phone says google maps has used 706mb data since 1st July. I don't think it's super data heavy.

            • @whyisave: For me it’s sufficient… obviously it’s a bit different for everyone

              • +5

                @thomalfa: Try Organic Maps.
                Open-source, offline maps.
                Pretty good for hiking too.

                • @whyisave: Cheers

                • @whyisave: Is that for hiking only? The name says hike bike.
I need one for walking (as normal tourist)

                  • @CyberMurning: It's not for hiking only.
They are fully open source maps,
                    with community-driven location points, etc.

You download the maps you want,
for the countries that you go to.

                    The routing is sometimes 'weird',
because it will just find you the quickest route,
even through small alleys or laneways or neglected roads.
In Europe (ie. Balkans) it was "fun" to say the least, haha

    • What’s the redeem code for?

  • +2

I have created Referal code giveaway thread to share codes while Ozbargain sorts out the proper referral system.

Adding a referral code in step (2) will get you another 1GB Travel eSIM. Do this referral code after you have already redeemed the deal code.

    • And the mod take it down.

I managed to grab yours and got another 1gb.

So why is it not allow to have more code for people?

      • Referral system now activated.

        • Thank you.

Just to help others adding their own code.

Use the first code, Redeem not the Coupon code.

  • +1

Does somethingnlike this exist for south smerican countries?

  • Is KYC verification required to use the eSim?

  • +2

Took me a bit to work out how to get the codes in but get 2 * 1 GB asia esims for free. will work well for next month for me.

  • Could not work out how to use the referral code :(.
But managed to get the 1gb free.
So to help others, those who managed to get 2x1gb using the referral code please tell.

    • You can do it again with a referral code or if used a referral code the first time, then do it again and enter ‘TELUESIM’.

  • Manage to get free 1gb referral code but not the promo code. It says been redeem but nothing comes up.

  • +2

The redeem button is in the Hot Feautes section on the front page of the app. Managed to get a referral and the generic code to work, have two 1gb sims now how good. You do not need to kyc

  • +24

    For those who are confused:

    1. Install the Tel-U app and make an account.
    2. In the app, go to "Homepage" > "Redeem" > enter "TELUESIM"
    3. Get a redeem code from the OzB generator.
    4. In the app, go to "Homepage" > "Redeem" > enter the redeem code.
    5. Add your redeem code to the OzB generator by going Homepage > Invite friends button. There are two codes - a coupon code and a redeem code. Make sure you put the right one.

    Hope this helps.

    • Managed to do step 2 but input invalid for step 4.:(

      • Use another code from the OzB generator above.

        I did mention it here

    • +2

Thanks, these instructions worked for me.

Appears as two separate 1Gb eSim plans waiting to be activated. I don’t need it until early 2024 so will hit the redeem button then and see what happens.

      Thanks again!

  • -1

Damn, this would have been handy for my NZ trip this month

  • I don’t need this until early 2024. If I redeem this does it automatically activate?

    • +1

Doesn't look like it to me. You get an eSim in the app that you press an 'activate' button to get it working. I just haven't tried it.

      • Thanks man!

  • Couldn't sign up - "error occur", is the server down?

    • Use a different email. Outlook didn't work for me. Had to use Gmail.

  • +1

Thanks OP, used the code and a referral code and received 2 esims.

  • For those having trouble getting the referral code to work for the second redemption, the code you are trying could be invalid (there are 2 codes given under the invite the friend link and only the redemption one works for this).

So click on the referral link in Ozbargain and try another referral code.

  • I wouldn't classify Australia and NZ as asian countries… description should be Asian and some Oceania countries.

  • +1

Will try this when we land in Japan in 2 months time. That'll be handy

  • Thanks OP.

How is the quality of speed on these guys?

Any idea when this deal expire?

    • Click on the random referral link above

      • Many thanks jabba100

  • +2

These are great for getting taxis from the airport. Then you can purchase a cheaper SIM from local stores rather than the inflated airport prices.

  • +4

Thank you very much!!! Also found out that they give you free 30 mins international call every month as well. :)

    • thank you added to the title!

    • Nice spot..

But.. anyone actually able to actually access the 30 international calling mins? Just tried it on my own, mum's and dad's phone. Same issue with all 3. It looks like the call is starting in the app, it then redirects to my phone's native dialer, and then the call immediately ends. All required permissions have been granted.

      • The call end immediately happened to me too. Try to repeat the call like 3-5 times as it works for me that way (Called to Thailand). Also it's voip service, So you need a good internet connection for it (Australia has a pretty good internet connection though).

Ps. The calling minute starts counting immediately once the line is connected.

  • When does this expire? Not going anywhere in 6 months unfortunately but will be in 9… So don't want to redeem too early!

    • If experience on Ozbargain is anything to go by, even if the expiry date was 31 Dec 2023, it doesn't mean it'll last until then.

And it's even less likely when these things get posted on Ozbargain

And it's even less likely when it's a non-Australian company (this company seems to be Taiwanese) that doesn't need to worry about adhering to consumer standards in Australia.

    • Mine says 'last day for plan activate 4/23/24'

  • +6

My Eskimo data just ran out while in Indo, so this is great timing. You may need to manually set the APN details for the esim as per the app troubleshooting guide (APN and name set to 3gnet). Once I did this, data working and another 2GB to get me through. Cheers OP.

    • My iPhone defaulted to 3gnet and doesn’t work. Any other ideas?

      • +1

So did my phone, I deleted the automatically created APN and added a new one with 3gnet in APN and name.

        • Thanks mate. I think it’s because I’m in Taiwan. Ozbargain post says valid for Taiwan but excluded on the official site for this promotion.

  • how r u meant to use the qr code when its on your phones screen? are you supposed to use a second phone?

    • +4

If using iOS, screenshot it then use the photos app and select the QR code.
itll let you "read" the QR code as if you scanned it

      • No way, didn’t know you can do that.

  • can anyone get it to work? It's registered as an eSim but when I connect to it and turn off wifi and my current sim it doesn't have internet. This is in australia.

    • +3

See my comment above, set the APN

      • sweet. cheers!

  • +1

I don't think referees get anything unless a purchase is made - no biggie just curious

  • Thanks Ozbargain community. Redeem code entered.

  • tempting to upgrade to phone with e-sims

  • e-sim only?

  • Says I've redeemed both TELUESIM and the referral code, but only one e-sim is waiting to be activated.

    • Made another account to test this, be sure to click on CHECK after inputting codes.
      Now shows two.

Don't swipe out like I did haha.

  • +1

    Flying to China tonight. Thanks!

  • -1

Sorry for being paranoid. The copyright points to a company written in Chinese. Is it a safe SIM to use?

    • -1

I do have similar concern as to whether their privacy policy is up to Australian standard.

      • Just to clarify a bit, TEL-U is a Taiwanese company.

  • what country is the phone number from though? AU?

    • +1

      There's no phone number

  • Great thank you!!

  • +3

Thought I'd share this tip here since no one's mentioned it yet:

If you need more than 1GB, use a temporary email generator to register more accounts. Install the eSIMs. Once one eSIM runs out, deactivate it and more to the next… Rinse and repeat. Unsure how many eSIMs phones allow you to install but in theory it could work.

    Cheers!

    • +1

Or, just use the reference generator at the beginning of this post to generate a code for an additional 1GB.

      • Indeed, both work :)

  • I'm in HK now and I never got my extra gig from the referral even tho we all used the referral code. We used the redeem code fyi

    • +2

Just use my method in the comment above yours :) make more accounts using a temporary email service

  • 30 Minutes Free International Call Every Month.

so is there any expiration or does it means every month forever?

    • Even if it technically means forever, I typically would not assume something posted on Ozbargain is "forever", especially if it's free.

It's more like, "in perpetuity" until they decide that it's not worth doing anymore

  • Is this still working? I used up my first 1GB eSIM so thought, I'll just use another email to get another one

Upon redeeming the code, it accepts it. But there's no "Activate eSIM" button and it shows "There is currently no inuse plan" on the "View data plan" screen where it's supposed to allow me to activate the eSIM.

Same thing happens when I use a referral. Accepts it but nothing appears under View Data plan

    • Still working on my phone! 🥹 have you updated the app? 😂

      • Maybe it's because I used it on the same device and it's picking up device ID lol. I'll try again later..

        • how'd it go mate?
Did a 2nd email work on your phone?

          • @MagicTsukai: I didn't end up trying a 2nd email - it ended up working and getting pushed to me later. I think I checked the next day and it ended up appearing

  • -1

Only active for 30 days, the Eskimo deal was for 2 years.

    • You are correct, but I don't get how that's negworthy because you're stating it as if those are the only differences between the two services

      • +1

Because the Eskimo deal is still active, so I don’t think this is a good deal. Plus you get a referral bonus of 500gb plus the backlog of referrals from this page (I’ve got 11), on Eskimo.

  • Has anyone tried and redeem a second lot with a second email? Keen to know.

    • Yeah worked just fine, just followed the same instructions with two accounts. Go for it

      • On the same device?
