Prepaid Sim for New Phone

Long story short, I had to buy a new mobile for work. I need a good amount of data, unlimited txt and calls. The catch is I am stingy and don't want to spend too much.

Is anyone able to suggest who I should go with as far as mobile providers are concerned?

My personal mobile is with Vodafone. Been with them for years.

I am hoping to go with a different provider but know where to start.

Please help.

  • How much data would you need per month (or per year)?

    • just had a look and I seem to use about 10-15g a month on my personal phone running operating system 8.

  • +1

Kogan uses Vodafone network, and they have pretty generous data inclusions. (500GB for $199, 300GB for $179)

    Deal ends tomorrow.

If you want better coverage, Boost $300 plans usually go on sale for $240ish and has 260GB of promo data.

If you need to thrift then Catch Connect is $89 / 60GB and Amaysim is $99~$120 typically for the $120 60GB small plan, but they've discontinued this plan online (can buy in the stores only)

    • I will have a look thanks. I am not really IT oriented.

    • Do I need to buy it online?

Do you happen to know of any good ones that can be bought over the counter?

      • Don't think so although I could be wrong. It is almost always buy online and sim delivered to you.

  • If you want to buy it in person, you can get Woolworths Mobile (Telstra Network) plus 10% off grocery once every month, or Coles Mobile (Optus Network).

  • Any thoughts on Lebara?

  • … I had to buy a new mobile for work. I need a good amount of data, unlimited txt and calls.

If I were you, I would buy a decent dual sim phone. Then one of the Boost 12 months plan with decent amount of data, look here. Both new phones and Boost plan will be tax deductible, since they are for work.

I would then move the personal plan to Amaysim 12 months unlimited talk and text for $60 per year, look here.

This way you do not need to carry two phones, and use data from the work plan.

    • Am I able to get a $2 boost sim and then purchase online the 12 month boost plan?

      • Turn on your private messaging pls :)

        • are you able to let me know how I can do it?

I ended up get in a telstra $2 sim and have not yet put credit onto it. It will let me receive calls for 7 days. Hopefully I can work out how to get/order the boost one.
