Still Waiting for My Bond, VIC

I'm the tenant and moved out on the 28/9, the next day was a public holiday, so it's been just under 3 weeks.

The last message I sent the real estate agent was almost 2 weeks ago, and they advised they will send me the report at the end of the day. I've heard nothing since.

I should have just lodged the claim myself, but what are my best options now?

    Can't you claim it yourself?

    • Yes you can.

    Step 1. https://www.google.com/search?q=vic+claim+bond
    Step 2. https://rentalbonds.vic.gov.au/
    Step 3. Enter your details
Step 4. Arrange a bond refund

    Done.

    • For some reason when I did this it was suggested that the rental provider organise the bond return as it's quicker.
Obviously I should have lodged it on the exact move out date myself.

I think VIC is lagging behind other states when it comes to what the real estate agents need to do in and in a timely manner

        Well, do it now

        Lodge anyway.

They say this, but it does not matter. Unless the agents objects to the release you will have the money in a couple days

  • Also, this statement is very confusing:

Rental providers can only start the claim once everyone has agreed on how the bond should be divided. They must start claims within 10 business days of the rental agreement ending

      Blame woke crap.

      Replace "Rental providers" with landlords.

Ignore this, request, if the agent request to block the release they have to provide a VCAT reference number, if they don’t have this it will release. The agent might email you to say you have requested it etc because they get notified but it does not matter unless the agent is planning on taking you to VCAT it will release

  • Bikies. Lot's of 'em

Always claim your bond as soon as your lease expires.

  • Just a quick update…

Not sure if it's calendar days, but the Bond Status says "closed" and the Amount Repaid is the full amount.

I'm not sure what is was before but I think/hope I'll get the full amount now.
