    It's now 8.50 for 1???

    • +19

290g which is the big share pack vs the 150/165g large pack.

    • That's why there's an option below it that you click and says pick any 2 for $10

    • +17

      Air is expensive.

      • +1

Air with spices/msg in there even MORE expensive

    • +5

Don't worry, there's going to be a massive oversupply of potatoes soon and prices will plummet just like GPUs!

      • +1

        But 4070 Ti still $1199..

    • +2

$10 soon thanks for uncontrolled inflation

    • +7

That's the price for the Large bag, not the Family/Share bag.

    • +6

      Not Saiyan for reading

  • +12

Somehow the Aldi Blackstone chips are still cheaper. You can get 600g of chips for $9. The Redrock Deli promotion is actually better now considering you get a $5 dollar Coles gift card.

    • -4

yeah they are wayyy different so oily makes me sick after a few mouth fulls… redrock is so much better

    • Red Rock's sea salt + balsamic vinegar is better though.

    • Never in stock

  • +1

    Would this be available in-store?

  • +8

    WOW…….. Normally $8.50 each! …That's inflation for you :-(

They were $4.25 at the higher end late last year and $3.50 at the end of 2021!

If you can't afford two packs, then you'll find singles cheaper at……..

    $5.99 in ALDI

This is the big 290g bag, not the 160-170g bag.

      But yes.

      • +4

        But….
yes, my comments directly relate to the big 290g bag, both links provided and the older pricing! (people have short memories!)
used to get these at two for $7 a few years back

        • +1

Yes but I don't the big bags were ever $4.25, certainly not $3.50?

Not sure i was negged twice. I don't think those prices are accurate.

          • +1

@b2dz: They're not accurate. The big 290g bags were never less than $5 RRP at Colesworth. The 160g-170g reached the prices that were quoted but not the 290g bags.

            • @wavesgreen: Thanks wavesgreen.

              • @b2dz: bleugh is being a bit of a silly sausage and is comparing the half-price rather the full-price as is given in the OP.

The 290g bag was $7 RRP in Oct 2021, which was $3.50 half-price. It is currently $8.50, which half-price is… wait for it, $4.25. Exactly the same pricing as "long ago before inflation".

                • @wavesgreen: Ok got it, so he was comparing half price bags of 290g chips in 2019 against full price bags of 290g chips in 2023. Not a fair comparison.

What's more as well - IIRC, the 290g bags rarely, if ever, were available at half price.

    • +10

I stopped eating chips because of this… almost $9 for one potato

    • Unfortunately the party packs at Aldi are only special buys, so not always in stock.

  • +3

    (Various Flavours)

What you really mean is just Honey Soy and Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream 😆

If you’re in WA, worth noting Spudshed have had 2 promos that I know of running these “Party Size” bags for “2 for $7” as of recent. Again available in Honey Soy and Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream variants only since that’s all they manufacture.

  • +16

who the feck is paying $8.50 per pack of chips?

    • +2

Presumably enough people that they have chosen that price :(

  • +13

Coles pricing is good for my diet

  • +5

Even at $5 a pack, duck me a river >.>

  • How to submit separately

    If i buy 5 x 2pk

The terms say i can enter 5 times

But how do i enter separately?

Do you need to upload receipt each time aswell?

    • I haven't read this particular one but normally with competitions you need to purchase on separate transactions.

      • Thanks

How long to get validation email?

I entered couple days ago but still havnt received it

  • +9

Ridiculous prices for chips these days, good way to get people to stop buying them. I know I've stopped buying them for a long time.

    • +2

      Like ciggies, it works

      • +3

        Black market crisps

      • +1

I was still buying ciggies until I couldn't be bothered leaving the house to go get a pack, too much effort to go outside for a smoke every time tbh lol.

        • +1

          Because of the emphysema?

    • +1

      Exactly.
      Vote with your wallet.

  • +8

Fark that! $3.50 is max I will spend on a packet of chips

    • +6

Yeah same. Only ever buy them at half price.

    • +1

In this case you'll be spending $2.50 per pack with the $5 redemption.

  • +3

$8.50 for a packet of chips?

Damn, inflation is a hard b1tch.

  • +4

boycott it for that price even on discount.

  • Please stop, i am getting fatter and fatter, summer is around the corner…

    • +3

Still plenty of time for Summer 2024-25.

  • +1

These chips aren't that great. I'd rank Kettle and Tyrell's as better, but also any other brand pretty much.

    • Personally, I find the Sweet Chilli flavour is better in this brand than in either Kettle or Tyrell.

Other flavours are hit-and-miss, but Sweet Chilli is my go-to, and Red Rock does it well.

  • +3

Came here for the comments - was not disappointed :)
    (My first ever comment too)

    • +1

Upvoted for not asking people to be gentle.

  • +1

Wow!! $8.50 each. guess its good time to start a potato chips business.

  • +3

I feel the big two food chains are being greedy, I only have to fart and I walk out paying $80 a visit.

    • +5

That's called a public indecency fine.

  • +1

OP I think your title deserves to be a bit better to highlight the end outcome to be pay $10 get $5 back, i.e. $5 for 2 which means effectively $2.50 each.

Notwithstanding, all comments about how it is $8.50 normally is warranted. Nobody would believe this is the price for a pack of chips may be just 2 years ago.

Regardless, it is a good deal given that it can be had for $2.50 when it is $8.50 normally, although with quite some work to redeem the voucher.

    • +3

I don't think it's allowed to put the $5 redemption gift card on title as that it's a different deal. That's why I have put it in the description section.

  • Thanks, got 2 for $10.

    • Now go get your $5 coles gift card (it's prezee you can actually swap it for a a brand other than coles).

      • How long to get validation email?

I entered couple days ago but still havnt received it

        • Couple of days for me.

  • +1

I remember buying the 15 gram chicken cackles chips walking to school for 10 cents years ago, … so that is about $2.50 for same amount which adjusted for inflation about $6? … but they would give you a free onion to put on your belt which was the style at the time.

  • +2

Wow inflation is really hitting hard when $5 for chips is now considered a bargain! But then again if it's Coles or Woolies, they jack up the price x2 - x3, have a 50% sale and make you think it's a bargain!

  • I'm happy to pay $10 for 2 bags then get the $5 voucher. 2 for $10 ain't no deal and 1 for $8.50 is modern piracy on the seven seas, somali style.

  • +2

8.50 for 1 when will people wake up??

  • I just got 290g Honey Soy for $4.79 from Aldi but it had a marked down sticker and was the last one so I think it was from a deal a few weeks back, but the bag is still inflated and expiry next year!

  • Manufacturers: buy at new price - or get gud….
    Consumers:

  • 8.50 for 290g they are dreaming. I remember when those big family/party bags were $3.50 on special and that's the only time i would buy them. Once they are over $4 for around 300g they will stay on shelf.
You can get 4kg of potatoes for $9 any day of the week, and that's our retail price, I can only imagine what the wholesale price must be…pennies.
Inflation is just an excuse, like covid before.
Look at the quarterly earnings of PepsiCo (owner of red rock). They have increased their revenue by about 10%, that doesn't look like a struggling company, that had no choice but to raise prices, to me.

    Potatoes still cheap
    Oil is cheap
    salt is cheap
energy is still cheap if they switched to renewables
labour is more expensive but far from double, at most i would say 25% more or did anybody here get a 100% payrise when inflation hit?

    • +1

8.50 for 290g they are dreaming

Seems you are too! And living in the past!

      It's $5 for 2 x 290g after redemption of $5 gift card!
That's cheaper than the $3.50ea in your memory!
At this price - will buy.

Cooking costs have soared… Gas prices to manufacturers have risen sharply & cooking oil has become dearer.

Processed potato snacks have always been very expensive compared to raw potatoes.

      Your choice to buy them😉
I rarely do… Prefer a simple cheap cooked potato!

  • No 290g "Party Size" available today. Just lots of 165g at same sale price.

Asked at service counter. Given raincheck👍
Will try again, then redeem the $5 gift card.

  • There was one lonely bag on the shelf at my Coles.
