  • That's an impressive run time on turbo. I wonder what the actual lumens are though at maximum!?

    • turbo won't be long at all. They all state that but you want to see the chart - it probably starts dropping from the moment it's on turbo to settle at around 50% or less within a few minutes.

      • +1

One review said it takes about 6 minutes for it to drop down to 50%.

  • +3

There is no way that that thing will run for 3 hours on Turbo.

    • +2

Turbo wouldn't be at a constant 2000lm and no one has said it is either. Understandable if you're new to flashlights and would think that.

      • +3

        Called a ”torch” fyi.

        • +2

          Let's put him in gaol.

        • Sorry I kept thinking of that other one.

          • @Clear: I’m not sure this is true

            • +1

@Champ888: I'm surprised no one mentioned it. There's always one bringing it up.

    • Yep, incredible, like many product claims from mainland China. What's 'caveat emptor' in Mandarin?

      • I believe in pinyin it's something like, 'chao ni ma'.

        • Hilarious, bordering on caowitted.

      • Probably the same as Latin to English translation. ‘Quidquid latine dictum sit altum videtur’ Is a better choice when quoting latin

        • So your theory is that unlike many/most languages, Mandarin has no nuance or colloquailisms which would convey the same meaning? If you can find a simpler/more apt phrase which encapsulates caveat emptor I'm "all ears".

          • @Igaf: Nope. Not even close to what I casually mentioned.

Quoting in a different language sounds a bit fancy but why not just speak commonly.
Por que es importante ablamos en idiomas otras.
            Tranquillo, schwein

Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur" means "Everything that is said in Latin sounds profound. - Google

            • @PlaunsJanus: So you have no alternative for caveat emptor? I'm not surprised because it's deeply embedded in our language for good reason. I suggest you learn [the full extent of] what it means and WHY it's in common parlance before you mouth platitudes about language.

The English language has changed radically over centuries. Despite that some adopted words/phrases exist because they continue to fit contemporary life and/or are embedded in law, history etc. The meaning conveyed is so good that they need no elaboration. 'quid pro quo' is another case, as is 'schadenfreude'. There are many more - deja vu, verbatim, ad nauseam, ad hoc, al fresco, bona fide, ad hominem……. All may or may not drop out of common usage over time.

    • I know it seems disingenuous to advertise turbo for 3 hours when in fact the "3 hour" rating accounts for turbo stepping down after a few minutes and holding ~20-40% for the remaining 3 hours. Seems stupid but in reality this is how every single company advertises turbo. Also we should create a "torch forum" exclusively for us aussies who don't want to adopt the flashlight lingo xD

      • So you can be at 'turbo' for ever then.

        LOL.

  • Thanks. Just ordered one. Review seemed good.

Nice light , had one for a few years, just wish it remembered to start in last mode, always turbo, which you have to press for normal then low. Mine doesnt do the sos cr@p thankfully

  • I've has one of these for over a year, the build quality is remarkably good for what it costs. so far no issues with it but I'm not a daily user… i have dragged it under the house with me and used it in the rain. overall quite pleased with it. the only annoyance i have is that the head and the body are different colours, and i wish it was consistent throughout
