FAQ thanks to BG

Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including July 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" " or "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong. Possible fraud scenario: API returns during purchase - credit to @himalpatel. Live chat advised that if you faced the above fraud scenario message, you need to use your friends details (aka a completely different details) to order
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

Thanks, every bit helps to bring me closer to the Tesla deal

    • +1

Seeing how active you are on here, and how much you contribute, I would have thought you already own a Tesla 😏

      • Contributing high to deals and yet I’m still too poor to afford a Tesla 😞

        • Lies.

        • I washed mine today. Looking extra shiny.

          • +6

@Clear: Public transport life for me. Every bit of profit helps towards my mortgage too 😉

            • @BargainsGrabber: Public transport is easy when Canberra is one big circle.

Rent your house out. That's how I sorted my mortgage 😝

Awesome thanks, living the dream continues.

InB4 someone says… "something went wrong".

  • +5

    Absolutely last chance

Lies. There’ll be more deals in the future. But maybe not this high…

    • +2

I assume OP means highest profit of the round

  • Omged.

  • +1

Wow, forgot to buy Sim earlier with $4 profit. Will buy now!

  • How many can you activate per person?

    • interested to know as well

      • -1

        100's

    • +2

25 to 30 active services per account at once I think, but services can be removed.

I haven't hit the limit so maybe someone else can correct me.

      • Yeah it's around 30ish, no less than 30 that's for sure!

      • How to remove services? In chat?

        • Yep

    • +2

I remember one guy said 35 in his comment. But I cannot confirm or reject

      • +1

It's 35. Confirmed with Boost Rep.

    • +1

      35

  • Bit too close to the last one, but not really complaining :)

  • You can use this new number to get a free burrito from Guzman and 50% off at Doordash@!

    • Getting another free burrito from GYG never worked for me, do you have any tips. Can also use at starbucks and set birthday to today or tomorrow.

      • There's a limit per device as well I believe. You can contact the CSRs and you might get a voucher instead.

    • +1

Lately when I make new acc at GyG, they don’t come with the free Burrito voucher automatically for some reason. Had to always contact CS to manually reissue and their email response is so crap, can wait up to 7-10 days with no reply

  • Bought at $4 profit this morning. Maybe I should get one more.

    • Yes you should :)

  • +4

In October 2023 alone, there have been 13 deals (this being the 13th one) where you can receive a profit from boost SIM cards. The total profit sums up to be just over $40 and it's not even the end of the month yet.

  • OOuuuh was planning on going with the $4 bonus, happy it took me some time to get home and arrive to this !
Being now jobless, this is now my income haha

  • Nooooo! I finally got the "something went wrong" error. Does it every go away?

    • How many have you ordered

      • +1

Not sure on all time but 19 in October before the error. I've only recently started "hammering" the deal.

        • I got the "something went wrong" error as well

    • -6

      Does it every go away

No. Go directly to gaol. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200 of Boost cashbacks. Do not swallow Hamas propaganda, put Ukraine flags on your car, or install government check-in apps on your phone on the way there.

    • Interesting, I spoke with a Boost CSR who suggested it was a card issuer problem. My error occurs after I enter my payment details and click "Place order securely". I tried a different credit card (only Visa and MasterCard accepted) and it worked!.

      • Really? DIdn't work for me :/

        • Not work for me too. SORRY

        • Even when using new virtual cards with fresh details I am blocked on my home computers. All unique details etc. Suspect device ID / IP is checked as well as all the other details.

To be fair I have ordered a fair few of these recently

          • +1

@mrfuku: Yeah that's what's annoying about this "error", there are multiple layers to it that do not all apply to all customers. There are definite fraud prevention triggers occurring but there also seem to be cool down periods where people can buy again without altering any aspect of their device or purchase.

The fact some first time buyers get blocked is just crazy. I wonder if Telstra/Boost is also instituting some kind of false positive DDOS detection where all these purchases happening suddenly at once are triggering random user blacklisting.

      • Nah that's a load of crap. I've tried multiple cards, a new one for each denial.
Up, ubank, NAB, Westpac, ING, ME Bank…

        • +2

Well it’s not. I bought two more. I think wavegreen explains it best.

  • So you don't have to take any further action after buying? Automatic profit? Seems to good to be true 🤔 I guess our details are worth a lot more than $4…

    • +5

Comprehension skill goes a long way mate. Read FAQs

    • +2

SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering.

      • +2

Thanks both, sorry, the speed at which I pounce on some of these deals means I don't always read properly. Thanks for your rapid replies.

  • -3

Still can’t buy any, still getting the something is wrong error message. it’s been almost a month. I don’t expect it to change. I’m hoping it’s an error and it gets fixed, but I believe it is fraud detection.

I use these for useful purposes, I port my main number to Boost as many times as I can, I Wi-Fi quite a few devices around the house to the Sims in my spare phones it greatly reduces the strain on my home Internet especially when everyone’s using the net at the same time and the new number deals and offers. I’ve been doing this for quite awhile and these benefits far outweigh any profit you make from these offers.

I know people on here for hammering these deals to death for the profit. But I cringe when people post on here they’ve purchased 15, 20, 25, 30 and more at a time whether it’s true or not. I wish they wouldn’t do that. They are part of the blame. Cashrewards is also to blame for not putting a limit on the amount you can buy in the offer period and also Boost for allowing I think 30 number slots on your BoostID.

And the new number only last 7 months from the day it is activated , unless you recharge it.

Unless someone else knows another way, this is the only way to get free phone numbers and free Sims.

Good times seem to be ending.

    • +1

Mine have never failed to purchase, i use a debit card for my purchases on mobile data.

      • Hm… Could be I guess… some data delay between Boost's payment system and peoples CC provider. (I use a debit card too. Not blocked yet.)

      • How many have you bought? How many in October?

        • 8 in October for me.

        • This month just 2. Or three if I check expiry dates in the app and find I might need this one too. (I still have a $9 70GB Lebara SIM I haven't used because Boost deals keep appearing.)

  • Bought 30

    • :0 legit!?

      • Yeah… boost some cashback too…
Xmas outdoor recreation will come in handy for my kids, nieces and nephs

    • +1

have you got "something went wrong" message ?

      • -1

        No… anyone experienced issue?

        • Yes 30 active is the limit most likely

  • +1

Does anyone ever use these SIM cards or you just buy them to make a few dollars

    • +2

I use them in a wifi hotspot

    • Same, that's my internet connection for a month

    • +1
      • Very detail. I have a optus portable modem but it is labeled as optus so I thought it is only for optus, I didn't try so not sure. Now I know, thank you!!

        • Optus one usually needs unlock code to access Telstra network.

          • @Neoika: Do you know how can I unlock it? I tried to it yesterday but didn’t work.

            • @daoddv: Optus offers free code after you own it for 12 mths, (but I think you may lie if you bought it from resellers).

    • Wifi hotspot is the best… can work from almost everywhere within Australia

  • my last experience was that the day i bought more than 1 (which only happened once), then I got the errors for about 4 weeks before being able to purchase myself again. now i have already bought one early afternoon today, but then when activating a sim afterwards i needed live chat to do it - this was needed in that 4 weeks period when i couldn't purchase. i haven't tried to buy this one but i feel the error is likely to happen 🥴

    • +1

I’d call them up and ask, no point speculating. Got 4 yesterday and 4 today. 4 active numbers currently plus a dozen active but out of credit. No errors whatsoever. I only jump on $4+ deals tho.

  • Which providers do you guys use to port over and back? Like how do you guys activate the numbers enough in order to get the cashback deal?

    • +1

Whatever sim is the cheapest with credit low gb at woolies/coles. Normally $4 lebara sim.

      • Is that still available to purchase now? I bought it last month from Coles.

    • I have an Amaysim plan with unlimited calls for $60 a year on my permanent number. Then I order these for data. I might hammer it this time considering the much higher than usual profit.

  • +2

    Sigh. Sim card buyers fatigue.

    • I just started last month and have 3 in the mail now. My partner is beginning to develop concerns.

  • +3

JB will hate me because of this :-)

    • +1

There was a loophole where you could buy $10 worth of Kobo credit. Does this still work?

      • +1

        sorry I don't know about this. :-(

  • Has the Guzman free burrito window closed for this? Signed up a new account earlier and no free burrito :<

    • +1

Delete the app and install again. New number new mail address. For now it has worked fine for me like that

      • I did use a new email and number, but i didnt reinstall the app, didnt think it was so high tech lol

      • How many times has that worked for you?

      • I did that too last month and still gave me no voucher. My experience
So now I just make new email and actually use another name (every main character from Fast&Furious) so when I need to contact CS i’ll just use that respective name… “Hola Dom!”

    • +2

Think they're getting smarter in how they detect repeat users.

  • my sim from last deal is expiring tomorrow can i buy this deal and redeem cashback again?

    • You don't even need to wait for one to expire.

    • +1

      I bought six today…

  • -2

Why is it so hard to troubleshoot being unable to buy one? Why is no one on this?

Are they purposefully trying to stop people who have bought many before?

Even if I try with a different computer. Different IP address. Different person's name, dob, phone number (real person). Different delivery address. Different credit card details…

None of the details have been used to buy a Boost sim before. "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG. We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later"
