How do you get this out of its packaging?

    • +7

According to a number of reviews, the blade falls out, so you may be able the cut the packaging from the inside.

Damn it I was 30 mins too slow to say this. Have a +

Buy two and use one to open the other!

      • +1

But how do you get the first one out?

        • I didn't think that far ahead, maybe buy three then.

Got this box cutter from a recent deal, you'd be shocked at how well it works.

    • +1

i got some also, works great , leave one on front porch so that i can open the box, bin the major packaging and just take the goods inside, and because it has serration its safe even for kids.

    • I also purchased one of these, but wouldn't use it to cut cardboard as I think it would blunt the blade quite quickly.

It's great for cutting tape though.

    • Not shocked. But don’t be surprised if it’s not used in every workplace because it’s too long to carry, can damage contents, cannot be sharpened or replaced at a price less than a regular box cutter.

Just use a screwdriver, a nail, cheap Pruning saw, your keys, foot or basically anything to open a taped cardboard box a couple times a week

Thank goodness i have no head, imagine the smell of all that shit in your house

  • It looks very thin, will it cut thick boxes like butter

    • Yes, the point is the point.
You can easily snap these blades off for a new sharp edge whenever you like.
Cannot be used to pry or it will snap. Only use for slicing, no good against staples

I've found that going cheap is fine for opening boxes as any box cutter can cut through tape

Thanks, OP! Bought one! Now I have a good reason to buy a lot of shit online with this cutter.

  • Their hardware shears are also discounted ($18.12 delivered, regular price $37.23) and look pretty decent.

    • Fiskars other products have disappointed plenty me but these are legit.
I’d further recommend getting industrial scissors and blade knife pack like the knichrome one for $30. Not a bargain but in the right area if looking for value

    At that price point the Bunnings units are looking to be far better build quality;
