    Microwave? Haiyaa.

    • Yep.

Light, fluffy and normally won’t harm any animals in the production of said rice.

And if that doesn’t float your boat, you can always use it to make custard…

      • I think you've completely missed sini180's reference, UncleRoger UncleRico.

        • +1

Indeed. It’s getting late and might be time for me to hit the pilau

Wait, this thing actually works? WITCHCRAFT!

Are these plastic containers really non-toxic at high temperatures?

    • +1

      I’m living proof…

  • +1

I just ordered one of these a few minutes before you posted.

I already have one of the smaller containers and is useful in storing a ~full sized meal or whatever. I also like it has proper hinges rather than "live hinges" with bendy plastic. I doubt I'll actually use the big one to cook rice apart from a couple of trial runs, but I did need more bigger jug/bowl things in my kitchen anyway.

    • Agreed. Much more sturdy hinges than the bendy Sistema klip-it range. Like use, I often use the rice cooker bowl (minus the aerator) for storing other things for days at a time in the fridge. Good gear…

  • Thanks! Deal is still working!

    • Nope, deal is still active. Sure you weren’t looking at the single rice cooker and not the cooker and bowl combo?

Edit - too slow for your edit. All is well in the universe once more…

      • +1

Nah my app must have glitched, it was weird. Edited my comment after I refreshed, still active indeed!

  • When I have cooked rice left over I like to mix coconut cream and sugar before microwaving. Easy delicious coconut rice.

Good for the left over curry rice for the morning hang over. Perhaps this will enhance it.

  • How long do you have to microwave rice in this?

  • From years of experience, this exact microwave rice cooker always made mid af rice.

    • I don’t understand what that means, and I refuse to respond to it.

      //Lucille Bluth mode off//

But it makes ball-tearingly good barley to add to your winter soups…

Sorry I’m too Asian to not cook rice in a proper rice cooker. My ancestor will haunt me.

    • But, but, but… the scientists!

If you ask me, that sounds just a little bit like ricism…

      • Asians talk about cooking rice? That's international standard for non-racialism :)

        • +1

          That’s drawing a very long grain bow…

    Good find OP

I have had this rice cooker for many, many years and have become a master at it. Although a word of warning: it's not super forgiving (if chasing near perfection rather than just "hot wet stuff") and results vary wildly from microwave to microwave and from rice variety to rice variety, so much so that I have to mess with my microwave wattage and time and have literal recipes for types and volumes of rice and water content.

Once dialed it is a weapon for the money, but hardly stupid proof straight out of the gate. Particularly if you change up the types of rice and quantities regularly.

  • +1

I've had this one for years, it's been solid. Although I've been eyeing the Joseph and Joseph one recently as an aesthetic upgrade.

    • +1

Aesthetic upgrade? How dare you! Typical ricist comment…

I actually debated adding the J-squared model to my collection too, if only to see how it compares. Will be interesting to hear back from anyone who owns both.

  • Got one before expiring. Gonna try this against my rice steamer and see how it goes.
