  • Why note pay a little bit more for a single erro 6+? Genuine question.

    • +1

i think bad software (not enough controls in the app)

    • Personally I was waiting for the Asus AX56U to drop in price, which it did, but then realised it's EOL. I pushed the budget up a bit to get this instead. In a small house I can make do with a single router with good range. I expect a single node from one of those mesh kits to have reduced range than a router with external antennae, although it's hard to get data on this.

  • Why do you see lots of these deals for routers and not modems? With NBN is a modem not required and only a router?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but you will need a modem if it's FTTN but if it's FTTP you only need a router

    • Because why would they include $5 worth of vdsl components when people will happily pay $999 for WiFi access points and you can sell them a second device?

And yes if you have fibre or hfc you don't need a vdsl modem

    • +1

Only 35.5% of NBN connection still need a VDSL modem. This number would be much lower in other countries too.

A modem is becoming more and more niche.

      • Thanks. This was something new for me.

  • Noob question- we built a house and have data points in 4 locations. Can i use this to connect into one of the central data points , so that the whole house gets adequate wifi signal? I.e. use as an extender for the nbn box?

  • Whats the difference to this one -

Limited-time deal for Prime Members: TP-Link AC1200 Dual Band Wireless Router - Full Gigabit Ethernet Ports, MU-MIMO, Beamforming, Long Range Coverage, OneMesh Supported (Archer A6) | AU Version | https://amzn.asia/d/c4zuE79

    • +1

Google AC1200 vs AX3000, aka WiFi 5 vs WiFi 6, that's the most obvious difference.

  • Would I benefit from using (/is it possible to use) this as a router and a set of Deco mesh points as APs. I like the coverage of the deco mesh I currently have, but want more granular feature settings than deco has (e.g. channel selection).

    • also interested to know how this works with the deco mesh points- do you need to connect a main deco via Ethernet to this router or does this act as the main access point?

      • Yeah, I'm pretty sure you still need to connect a main deco to it over Ethernet and set the deco to AP mode.
