this game is only $18 aud brand new from the steam store it self in russia so i dont see these keys getting much cheaper then this or 18 $ but this is good

    • Nice!

    • wouldn't that require a proxy network and if you have to convince steam that you're from Russia you're probably installing it illegally anyway, why not just a torrent then?

    • Lol

purchased :) will see how it goes

    • +1

Just got the key, Steam approved. All good :)

  • +5

Wasn't planning on buying this game due to the $40-$70 price… but $20 I can do. Sold.

    • +6

      What he said, sold aswell

  • How long's this usually take to deliver? just ordered mine

    • +1

Mine came through basically instantly, although they sent the key to my Paypal address instead of the address I entered.

      • Still haven't gotten mine ;/

/edit: got it! must be a lot of ppl buying :) thx

    • Mine took about 15mins

  • man… i thought i was going to save by buying Torchlight 2 and waiting for the inevitable steam sale.lol
It will be hard to go below 20 for the steam sale this christmas though. so…. SOld.lol

  • is it necessary to make a separate steam account for this or is that overly paranoid?

    • +1

I wouldn't think so. people gift games from different regions all the time. I don't see how this is much different.

      • This game was originally ungiftable from Russian Steam though, according to articles I read. Is this still the case, or are these keys from physical Russian versions?

        • Yeah they are from the retail box. "Scan or Photo of the Original Borderlands 2 Dvd Game"

  • What region is the game from? RU?

    • +1

it is technically ru, but can choose to install normal (us) i assume (i havent dl it) or RU or both

      • Just confirming this. Steam gave me the option of installing Borderlands 2 and/or Borderlands 2 RU. I'm just installing Borderlands 2, I'll let you know how it goes it's only 15% downloaded so far.

  • WOW! $20 is a great bargain! Fantastic game.

  • Those who are buying the Russian keys, do you get the Russian version, as well as the Non-Russian version, listed in your Steam library - ie, two versions of the game listed?

    • Yes

      • Cheers mate.

Probably fair that this be known to potential buyers - this is not how Steam usually works, so it may be unexpected, and unwanted, as it can never be removed from your account.

Obviously many wont care, but only fair that they know about it and have the choice, in my opinion.

  • got it, and activated it..
took them an hour or so to send it through.

was going to buy it on xbox… but for this price I couldnt not get it for steam

  • +1

Tempted.. But don't wanna lose my entire Steam directory if it gets banned haha.

    • You don't lose you entire Steam Library. You would only lose the game itself. How do I know this? Well one of my friends got a key off some guy for free for Dead Island, he played it, then one day it said it was an illegal key or something like that (I lol'd), then it was removed from his Library, nothing else was affected.

      • +1

Hmm really? I'd read otherwise on Whirlpool when people were using VPN's with a US account to gift games to their Austrslian account and that happening (their whole account banned). Guess Steam has changed what they do or else it depends on what's happened.

        • This is related to fraud because they were being caught using fake address's and details.

It has nothing to do with legitimately receiving or buying overseas games.

  • is this legit? 1st game was awesome

    • I think it's legit, as many people bought it and said it worked fine. Read above. :D

  • Legit, got my key after about 45mins, downloading now! :D Thanks rep!

  • Any of you bought the DLC 4 pack yet and tried to activate it on those keys?

  • WOW

$20 bucks for a game just over 24 hours old. And a good one at that!!

  • Hmm, still havn;t got my new =[

  • if you want the box, this seems liek a good deal. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Borderlands-2-PC-Game-English-Sea…
i bought mass effect 3 from one of these indian sellers and the box is in english too

  • THANK YOU GAMEKEYPORT!!!

Just to let you all know… the email with the scanned code came in 10 mins to my paypal email address.

It activated on Steam and gave me 2 versions to install… Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2 RU

WOW… I now im set if I ever go to Russia I can still play this lol!!
    Thumbs Up!

  • +1

For those who just bought it,

let me know if you can join online games,

    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29448…

reading this thread, i think we may come into problems with RU season pass.

For the life of me, i can't join a single game all night..

let me know if you have the same problem..

    Thanks

    • The situation for that guy was that he seemed to have bought a RU season pass… but didnt have a RU borderlands installed….

So i dont think it would affect us.. since now we have a choice to buy a RU pass or Worldwide pass as we got a choice to install either version of borderlands…

      • The guy at post #11 seems to be different though - he says he bought the Russian version of the game.

Are you sure you have the choice of DLC?

With the studio having originally gone out of their way to stop unauthorized "cdkey" store sales, by restricting the multiplayer in the RU version, only to later change that to give Russians the non-Russian version too, isn't there a chance they could still be trying to prevent cdkey store sales by other means?

  • … sorry i might be wrong here,

Do i need a season pass to play online matches?

Or season passes just for DLC?

I'm having trouble finding online matches (only)

    not too fussed about DLC

    • It's for the DLC stuff so you don't need it.

    • There is issues currently with the matchmaking system and with some routers, Gear are working on it

  • Out of stock

  • bought an hour ago. still haven't received my key

    • ditto

  • Ozbargained! Out of stock! :(

  • Nooooooo I was so close. :( Anywhere that's cheap or someone willing to sell or gift? I will play with you I just want to get drunk and play with some buddies.

  • Looks like its still in Stock. Just watched price change from $19.50 to $20.50 and then back to $19.50

I got my email from CDKeyPort but it had not CD Key attached :(
Hopefully they can resolve that ASAP

    EDIT: Sorted in 2 mins!

  • Aww man out of stock. Are you getting any more in?

    Edit - Back in stock.

  • Ordered 15 mins ago, just received the key and it works :)

  • Says it's in stock but when I go to checkout I get this error "Products marked with *** are not available in the desired quantity or not in stock!"

  • +5

    Hello,

    • when can we purchase again?
      i cant checkout the order

    • Still waiting for it to be back in stock :)

      When will you have more?

  • Purchased last night at 1:49am AEST, key arrived 5:36am this morning and I'm installing it now.

    • Same here. They said 20 hours but I received it this morning. Pretty happy with that.

    • I can't complete the installation yet as the servers are too busy. I'll try later on today…

      Here is the error message.

      • Continued below…

  • Outta Stock!

  • I read this online..

2K Games is in charge of any region-locking and responded to one inquiry with the following message: "All users with a Russian IP address that are attempting to purchase and play the game will be restricted to the RU version of the game. This version of the game will only be compatible with other RU versions of the game, meaning you will only be able to play online with other Russian IP players. We deeply apologize for any and all inconvenience this issue may cause."

    http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/18/borderlands-2-region-locke…

Are you able to play with players internationally? Or would you only be playing with Russians.

    • -1

i think this explains why there is no players online…

the game useless if you can't play online.

      • +1

Unless you downloaded the RU version, there should be people online. My matchmaking works fine and matched me with 6 games with green pings just now.

      • +1

I generally play Borderlands (and now B2) single player.

Multiplayer is fun and all but as a grown arse man it's hard to find friends who have time spare at the same time I do to play a game. And [removed] playing with randoms, I'd rather go SP.

Plus what kheob says. I just checked - I have no problem finding games.

Edited - Mod: Removed original word used, as requested by OP.

    • Considering we don't have Russian IPs and we are able to choose between the normal and RU versions, I think we're fine.

      Official statement:

2K Games and 1C Company have updated the PC versions of Borderlands 2 that are purchased from both retail locations and via digital distribution in Russia, the Baltic states, and CIS territories. Consumers in these countries will now receive a bundle that contains both the 1C Russian language version of Borderlands 2, as well as the 2K Games worldwide (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German (edit: and Japanese)) version of the game. This gives consumers in these countries the widest range of options to both choose their preferred language and play with their friends across the world. Though the 1C and 2K versions do not support cross-version play, consumers can install both versions and have the option to play each. Additionally, Borderlands 2 Season Pass and DLC content purchased in these territories will contain this bundled format content. We thank customers for their feedback as we continue to work to provide the best products we can offer worldwide.

  • Can anyone explain how these CD key websites work? How can they possibly sell the game for 20 bucks? Does Steam have some sort of CD key programme where it sells keys to websites on the cheap, or what?

    • They're versions from other countries where the average income is significantly lower so the price is lowered to ensure sales. They email you a photo/scan of the actual booklet/cover/wherever the sticker containing the key is.

    • +1

What you should also know, is that some keys have regional restrictions. While some cd-key sites do not always sell these keys, some do, and many (if not all), do sell them at release, before anyone knows about the restrictions. One case happened with Skyrim - many people opted for the cheaper Russian keys, installed it on the day of release only to discover that they required a Russian IP address, not only to active the game (like some other games), but from what I understand, to actually play the game too - every time they play it. So what that means of course, is that some people may have 100's of games in the Steam account - they then buy the Russian Skyrim and activate, and the game is useless without a Russian VPN. Because it's now in their Steam library, they cannot buy the non-Russian version at any other store, as it will come up as them already owning it, so they are fucked. They've not only got a useless Skyrim forever stuck in their account, but they've contaminated their whole Steam library possibly worth $1000's, by now needing a second account just for Skyrim, as it cannot be played without Steam.

Personally, I don't give a shit if anyone buys from cdkey stores, it's none of my business - I don't myself, but I've bought 100's of games from the US Steam store, and imported many PS3 games, so I obviously don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with however, is the way these backyard cdkey salesmen go about their business, potentially fucking over customers, by not always telling customers upfront how they operate, and the risks involved. A lot of people were caught out with Skyrim. And you see how it could happen here too - so many questions about Borderlands 2, but still cdkey stores are happy to sell it now, ask questions later, without a care for customers should they find it does have regional restrictions. It looks like it wont have a problem (besides having a 2nd useless Russian copy of the game in your library - again no mention of this by cdkey stores), but it's been up to the customers to discover that, via the potential misfortune of others who bought it first.

Another problem I have is with OzBargain listing these stores without any distinction between unauthorized stores (cdkey stores like g2play, cjs, the one above etc), and authorized stores who have to make deals with distributors to be able to sell the games (GreenManGaming, Steam, GetGames etc). Not everyone knows how these stores operate, and/or that there is a difference between them, and authorized stores. If not already, I can see that OzBargain will end up not listing these authorized stores at all for new games, because they cannot compete with the prices of what is basically a backyard unlicensed(?) second hand dealer reselling Russian games.

Apologies for the rant, but I think disclaimers need to be posted with these stores, so that people new to cdkey stores can make an educated choice as to whether they'll take the risk or not. There is a reason why places the Steam forums, and Overclockers AU either forbid discussion of these stores, add/or censor any links to these stores.

      • The main reason cd key site discussion is banned is not because these stores tend to be unauthorised but because there has been a history of stores selling stolen keys or keys bought using stolen credit cards. It's not often but it does happen, you just need to buy from trusted key sites.

      • You can add a different serial for a game you own on steam. My company of heroes has 2 seperate serials for the original game

        • I've attempted probably about 20 times adding a game I already have in Steam - every time I buy a bundle, or a developer pack during xmas sales, plus just attempting single games I bought elsewhere which I forgot I had. Not once have I had the same game added twice - Steam has a message saying you already have the game, when you attempt to add the key. It is also quite well known that those who bought the AU cut version of Left4Dead2 cannot later add the uncut version.

  • Russian versions of the game are cheaper is why the price difference. Been reading there is region restrictions on the RU versions.

Might end up like RU copies of diablo when they disabled english within the game. Ended up buying it for $40 from greenmangaming rather no have any hassles in the future.

  • +1

There are no issues with buying the RU copy of the game. When you activate it in steam, you unlock both the RU version and the worldwide version, the latter of which is exactly the same as normal copies (i.e. you can play MP with them)

    • Thats good hopefully it doesnt end up like diablo 3. Where some diablo 3 versions RU were locked to russian only no english language.

From what i understand they sell i cheaper version of diablo3 which is locked to russian language only thus alot cheaper to buy. These keys were sold worldwide. Google you will find alot of people who got caught out.

  • When's this coming back in stock?

  • I found a few (limited) oz players

Maybe they are on the same boat with Russian keys

  • Bought from http://cheapgamescdkeys.com/buy-borderlands-2-cd-key?filter_…. Sells for USD $22.99. After I pay by Credit Card comes to AUD $20.07.

Thought it was scam, but 2-3 hours after payment I got the cd-key (1) by email, (2) on my account on the website and (3) a separate email with a picture of the cdkey on the box.

I added the key to Steam. I got 2 versions automatically, one "Borderlands 2" and the other "Borderlands 2 RU". I can already see people from my list of friends playing the "Borderlands 2" on steam.

Just installed "Borderlands 2". working just fine.

    • Are you able to play with your friends who have the regular version of Borderlands 2?

      • I just tested to see if it worked. And it worked just fine, but didn't test with friend, although I saw they were also playing regular version of Borderlands 2 online.

btw, fyi the email they sent me the picture of the CD KEY & box was adult-themed/dodgy and ended up in my spam mail. But they also sent me in a regular email from the website domain & they have a copy of the cdkey on the website itself.

    • Bought it this morning around 10am, still waiting for my cd key.

      • Finally got my CD Key, work great on Steam. thank you.

  • how to tell which version you've installed?

    • Look at the name. If it's Borderlands 2, it's Borderlands 2. If it's Borderlands 2 RU, it's Russian Borderlands 2.

  • Anyone else having "The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request for Borderlands 2. Error Code (55)" problem? I've got both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2 RU on my game list however I've only installed the non-RU version.

    • Still can't install the game even though I've downloaded it :(

    • Ok, all good and working now. I can see my steam friends and invite them. I excluded the Steam directory from Avast and that also seems to have helped :)

  • +1

how long would stocks be available?

    • Same, looking to get a couple.

  • FYI

    Back in stock guys.
$21 though. If thats USD then a bit cheaper using a 28 Degrees CC.

  • -1

Apparently you need to be careful buying russian games because steam can ban your account. Is this true?

    • +1

You just couldn't be bothered to hold down Ctrl+f and typing 'ban', could you?

      • relax mate.

        • +1

          TANTRYL SMASH!

  • bought today … key received within a few hours … key registered OK with Steam … given option of installing Borderlands 2 and / or Borderlands 2 RU … installed just Borderlands 2 … all is good :)

  • Bought! (@ $21).
Now to wait for the key…..
