[Audiobook] 15 Hours Per Month Free Listen to Any Audiobook in Premium Catalogue @ Spotify Premium

540

Popped up in my Spotify this morning. Could be good if you've got some audiobooks shorter than 15 hours on your reading list.

Spotify Audiobooks

From Spotify:

"Today we’re starting an entirely new chapter for our audiobooks offering by making more than 150,000 audiobooks available as part of Spotify Premium subscriptions. To start, we’re offering each Premium individual, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts, 15 hours of listening per month—giving them the ability to enjoy as many titles as they want within that monthly allocation."

  • Are they good ?

  • Does anyone know if this is per plan or per profiles?

    • It looks like it's per plan "To start, we’re offering each Premium individual, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts"

        Yeah what's with that…

Most books are available through Libby for free. Since I got to know I've cancelled my audible.

Agree, as well as borrow box. I think this is a good supplement if the books you're after aren't on one of those services or if it's a new release and booked out for months.

    • Which library do you use for Libby? My local one doesn't seem to be on there.

      • Well I have two accounts from different ones but I use the Brisbane council one. Seems to have most books I'm after. Really good for kids on a long road trip

Audible is too expensive for my liking as well since it isn't really a subscription streaming service; you have to pay for each Audiobook separately. I only recently learnt how to "jailbreak" Audible files, stripping off the DRM with an amusingly named program called inAudible.

      • I just use Zippay and generate a single use credit card and use free trials 😂 Audible have robbed me of a lot of money by me not being able to cancel a subscription with them so it's only fair.

How about they remove ads from podcasts 😤 Free audio books are always welcome though.

    • +11

That's on the podcast creators, not Spotify

      • +1

Not true, Spotify actually does insert their own ads into podcasts as well.

        • The ones they own and create

        • +1

Yep have a friend that been told by listeners that ads appearing mid way through her podcast since recent update.
She had to inform she has no affiliation with any of them and it is Spotify inserting it

  • There's an offer for 3 months audible for free with amazon prime to consider as well

  • Doesn't seem available on my Philippines Spotify Account

    • +1

aus and uk only at this stage

  • Nice little addition, roughly 2-3 decent sized books (I used Jeanette McCurdys "I'm glad my mom died" as an example)

I like Audible but I don't get much time to finish a book and end up with credits I don't know what to spend it on. I feel I would be wasting money unless I keep cancelling and resubscribing when I'm ready for a new book. Even then it's overpriced. I already have Spotify Premium and when I checked it seems that most books I wanted to listen to are there. Libby, borrowbox, cloudlibrary, and hoopla are good but they don't have some big names.

    Thumbs up from me!

  • Listening to Elon Musk book

  • not sure why i can't see this on my spotify premium (via family) :'(

as an example - Barack Obama A Promised Land still shows locked via my phone app, and $41.90 buy on computer app

    • Did you pay for an Australian account, or get one of those cheap overseas accounts that get posted here?

      • Australian a/c

the audiobooks charge for the one i'm looking are also showing $41.90 (which $, i believe refers to AUD)

        • "Barack Obama A Promised Land" comes up as "Included in premium" for me

    • I also see nothing …

    • Are you the plan manager of your family account?

Is only available for individual accounts and duo and family plan managers

  • That's terrific as an occasional reader, cya later Audible.

  • Do people on Turkish Spotify get this?
