this vs Dell G3223Q?
Dell, based on the HDR600, which makes a surprising amount of difference both in brightness and colour gradient.
The local dimming system on the Dell is absolute garbage. The LG has way better response times and motion clarity.
Even HDR600 on my Dell is bad… My iPad has way better HDR. I’m upgrading to a 42” OLED for this reason.
If you have access to a time machine I'd be grateful if you could give me a lift. I missed that Dell deal by less than an hour, and I've been kicking myself every day since.
I spent too long deciding whether to get it, now really regret it… saw this LG was hoping it would be the panacea.
Couldn't edit my original comment, but I found this (which I'm guessing is what ChatCPT was referring to), which brings it down to about the same price this LG: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/797232.
Still not as good as the $500 deal, so feels kinda dirty to pay $200 more now that the benchmark has been set so low.
I managed to get one and actually ended up free
I just tried to salary sacrifice it for some more saving but my work just reimbursed me for it as a wfh expense :D
Offer applies to other LG monitors as well.
Thanks, is it a general 30% off coupon?
Any other good deals?

I'm trying to HODL for a good black friday deal on the 34 AW UW qd-oled…
Damn I missed that. Any idea how often does LG do these sales?
@Sopzo: never seen that 30% off (which was for PAX), but is regularly discounted to about $1440-ish on their site (better off going JB though at similar price then discounted GCs).
Otherwise look out for LG comps like Knock and Win, Spin and Win etc - get chance for discount code up to 50% off to use on their site
Not correct
It apples to some other monitors, not all
Tried it in the 32UN550-W and no dice.
I recently got the 27" version of this monitor. Great except for some weird reason it has a fan which is super annoying and easy to hear in a quiet room, it can be turned off in the service menu though!
has a fan to monitor its temperature
I opened mine up and replaced the stock fan with a small noctua fan. Dead silent now
Is there much to think about at this price if I am in the market for a 32" 4k 144hz monitor? Any glaring issues or features I will be missing by not going with a higher end model?
I think at this price it's the best option on the market if you don't intend to use the HDR feature. The only minor inconvenience is the lack of type-c to connect to laptops. If you want HDR, IMHO it's probably better to just get a 42'' oled instead of the mini-led screens.
Bought two myself.
I have a 4080 that pushes well over 60 FPS in everything that I play.
DLSS 3.5 is taking care of that.
Don't assume everyone is blind just because you are. invest in glasses
@DrScavenger: nah just superior to you
based on your negs you are way way down on the ladder
do better@ChatCPT: LOL. Hope useless internet points make you happy mate
@DrScavenger: I have a very strong suspicion society’s disdain for you transcends the internet
A 1-2k card could count towards excessive
I'm running a 4070 every game runs perfectly fine, however some games will need to rely on a small amount of quality DLSS to get over 60fps. Frame generation is also a solution to boost the frame rate.
you absolutely can see the difference, especially on a 32"
The next thing you’re gonna say is that you can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps
More like 90 vs 120 fps
Because some people have the hardware to do it, and you can absolutely see the density increase at 32 inches if you're sitting close like most people do at their PC.
Also, no one is forcing you to render at 4K. 4K for productivity is a godsend, and if you wanna get more frames in games, just change the game to 1440p or DLSS/FSR it.
I agree, you do need a lot of power to run a triple-A game at 4K with decent framerates, but honestly, even in a 25-inch monitor, I can tell the difference between 4K and 1080p.
4k and 1080p? Sure. 4k and 2k on a 25in monitor? Nope
Yeah I have a 4k LG and a 4090 and not being able to max out Cyberpunk irks me so.
Honestly considering dropping down to a 1440 monitor.
Thats pretty cray cray. Saw a Youtube video where a guy was running like 100+ mods on 4k and maxed in CP2077. Wonder what that guy's rig is like.
They would be using DLSS etc. Which I know everyone rants about but personally, the native resolution with no DLSS / no RTX etc looks better/smoother to me when moving around.
Everytime I put it onto RTX/PTX and play around with the DLSS, I switch it back after 10 or so minutes. And have done so over the course of like 200 hours of gameplay many, many times.
Dude. Just render at a lower res. You don't need to change your monitor.
DLSS yes, just running directly at a lower resolution looks like turds though. Way worse experience than say native 1440p.
It can be okay if you're 2-1 on the pixel ratios but that would mean going all the way down to 1080p.
@nigel deborah: I ran 1440p 120Hz on a 65 inch 4K OLED TV (about 2m away) for a year before I got a graphics card that allowed me to use HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz. Playing games, the difference was so minimal most wouldn't be able to tell you the difference. Text on Windows was horrible, but actually playing games, barely noticeable compared to native.
I can't imagine a much smaller screen being much, if any worse.
(Before anyone comments, no, the 65 inch OLED is not my main gaming display, it's my display for controller games/comfort).
@BradH13: Likely the TV is doing some more advanced processing to clean it up (since it's common to feed lower res inputs into 4k tv). Don't think most monitors will be nearly as good as it, not to mention gamers might not like the introduced input delay.
That said though it's probably a personal thing. Different people will have different tolerance for it.
@nigel deborah: 1080p to 4k is 4 to 1.
TV's in gaming mode do very little processing otherwise it adds latency.
@FabMan: Its 4 to 1 in pixel count, 2 to 1 in width/height which is what matters for upscaling. 1440 goes into 2160 1.5 times, meaning for each 1440 pixel rendered, the monitor needs to figure out how to display that on 1.5 physical pixels in each axis.
This tends to look awful, but can be slightly improved by decent processing on the display device, as you might find on a TV, but with added latency.
Not an issue if the pixel ratios are direct though, that's why 1080 to 4k is 'fine' as each 1080 pixel simple displays as 4 pixels on the 4k display. No processing required.
@nigel deborah: I'm aware, you wrote "It can be okay if you're 2-1 on the pixel ratios", so I had to join in. I agree that without processing, 1440 to 2160 can look turdish. I don't have an Nvidia GPU, but that DLSS 3.5 looks very impressive as an up-scaling technology.
Obviously I've tried this as well. 1440p looks shit on a 4k monitor.
Are you using frame generation ?
DLSS 3.5 looks great in YouTube clips, improves image quality and with a tiny boost to performance, then you can add in frame generation for a smoother image output.
Sounds like the definition of a first world problem. 4090 is already a horrible value proposition and some settings tank FPS with very little improvement in picture quality.
Gaming is not the only single use for a monitor. The extra pixels for productivity is great, and you can always run at lower resolutions when you game, yes, scaling might not look quite as good, but it'll be fine.
Not sure what DLSS even is but would this monitor be good for reading on? Looking for something crisp just for newspapers magazines etc. Thx,
should've gone to specsavers
You know you can watch 4K content on computers?

I’ve seen better deals through Dell monitors
Given others are on sale as well what would people recommend for productivity? I have a Alienware 34 oled for gaming already but it’s a bit rubbish for work, and also have an older dell 3415 which is ok, but was going to look at something a bit more modern. Usb c would be great
Why is the alienware rubbish for work?
guessing text fringing, ABL and worry about burn in, but keen to hear too…
Text looks terrible and I’m worried about burn in. And yeah, compared to my old lg 38 people followed working on it is not pleasant.
I’d have kept the 38 as the work monitor if it has more ports
it’s 2023 and they trying to sell us 4k 144hz at $700
it’s over man i got my 4k tv will HODL until oled is <$300
Is $700 expensive? Isn’t the 42 inch LG Oled over $1000?
expensive not really, just bad value
my 4k tv was 40042” oled was 1000
these monitors are just overpriced
You mean the LG C2 42 OLED which was around the $1000 mark at the end of its life cycle (clearing stock) when the new C3 42 was coming out at over $2500. And the C2 42 itself was $2200+ most of the time, or around the $1800 mark for the first few months.
42” OLED monitors are no better when you look at RRP… Makes way more sense to buy a TV which sees heavy discounts a couple of times a year. Plus TVs have way more tech packed into them.
will ps5 be able to fully utilze the full aspect of the 21:9?
This is 16:9
The linked monitor is 16:9. I'm pretty sure the answer is no though.

I’m so hooked to ultrawides now for gaming and work that I can’t go back. But this seems pretty good price wise? I remember paying $700 for 27” 144hz 1440p monitor with gsync back in 2019.
I had an Ultrawide for a couple years (till it broke) and loved it, however I find now having two regular displays to be better for general office productivity.
The Ultrawide was soo good for a lot of games, but a key reason I went back is that I play a lot of strategy games and find the regular aspect ratio to work a lot better just because of poor UI design for Ultrawide.
Yeah I play mobas so ultrawide was a no go for me after doing some research, even 32" feels almost a little too big but it's a nice step up for 27" for other games.
Yeah similar problems for mobas with Ultrawide. Makes camera movement more difficult and actually restricts your vertical field of view in most games.
That said you could always run it at 16x9, nothing wrong with that. But worsens the value proposition if half your gaming isn't going to use it, which is why I didn't buy a new one.
Only issue with ultra wide is when u do screen share …
Before anyone buys this unless you have a really good graphics card that can run 4k at 100+fps I wouldn't recommend this. With some of the recent games that have dropped the past year I wouldn't be surprised if a 4080 starts struggling in the next few years to do 4k gaming. Just something to think about you'll have to upgrade your machine more often. I picked up a QHD monitor with similar specs for $360 and couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Reminder that it's also worth trying cashback via either CR or SB - currently (today only?) 10%. YMMV, but I bought a TV from LG website using a spin and win coupon a few months back and tracked it with CR. Despite the code not being listed on CR, it came through and I pocketed I nice extra discount of a few hundred bucks.
10% on shopback, and they've now updated the cashback terms to specifically include this sale and this specific monitor.
Mine has tracked at $63.57. Happy days.
Steal for $649.35? VIP price. 27GP850-B Currently, 27" LG 165 Hz 1440p. I5 -13600k 32 GB DDR5 RTX 2080? what do ya'll think?
What games do you play? Not sure if a 2080 is suited for 4k.
all the latest things, huge Bethesa Fan, Cyberpunk 2077 and the like. The 2080 RTX is pushing medium to high in stuff at the moment on my 27GP850-B. Guess ill be stuck at 1440p for a bit longer, even if i were to replace the GPU my budget is AT MOST 4070 Ti, or less.
For 1440p I think the 32GP750-B for $349.30 is a good deal
https://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-32gp750-b8.5 for gaming from RTINGS
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/32gp850-bDefinitely a really good deal, most 32" monitors with those specs and 1080p usually fall around $350.
Hey man how’d you get the 1440p one for 349? Thanks a lot
Sorry amigo, I tried jumping backin and testing out the voucher and they're sold out
Just to clarify, the 32GP750-B and 32GP850-B are not entirely identical, e.g. the 850 has Nano IPS panels, overclocking to 180Hz, as well as a USB hub.
Whether or not the $70 difference after the discount is justified however, is subjective.
Do they still make 4K monitors that can refresh at less than 30fps without tearing? G-sync?
45" 800R OLED for 2099, ATL - not bad
Give me OLED or get the hell out of my face
I think it has run out, checked one of the 32s and 27s on the list and saying it's invalid when logged in, bummer!
nope, just bought one now after creating the account, also pre-filled the coupon code on checkout 👍
