The SoundLink Flex Bluetooth speaker does more than just immerse you – it provides a strong connection to your music. With crisp audio free of distortions, you’ll hear every instrument on the track and nuance in the vocals. It doesn’t matter how the portable speaker is positioned: PositionIQ technology detects its orientation and ensures the best sound. The portable Bluetooth speaker is packed with exclusive technologies. The transducer offers clear sound and deep bass. Its digital signal processing technologies, proprietary code, and custom algorithms work together for ideal sound quality wherever you are. Really, wherever, since the SoundLink Flex is an IP67 waterproof speaker. Its exterior can handle falls, the coat won’t peel or flake, and it resists corrosion and UV light. It’s also easy to hold or store, and you can secure the outdoor speaker with its utility loop. Rigorously tested to meet an IP67 rating, the SoundLink Flex is waterproof. It floats, too, so it won’t sink if it falls off your boat. For added protection from dust and debris, the Bluetooth speaker is crafted and sealed with waterproof materials. Plus, to ensure it can travel with you, Bose subjected the outdoor speaker to water, temperature, and drop tests. These proved that it’s durable enough for anything. And its battery offers up to 12 hours of unplugged play time. The Bose Connect app lets you customize the portable speaker settings, update software, and more. If your phone isn’t nearby, press and hold a button on the IP67 waterproof speaker to access your phone’s Siri or Google Assistant. A built-in microphone means you can also take and make phone calls through the SoundLink Flex. It also connects to other Bluetooth devices within 30 feet for even bigger sound.

rtings rates wonderboom 3 over this

    • +11

      Still waiting for USB-C

      • +3

Kinda unacceptable, this day and age still stuck with micro UBS, especially being part of a company those core business is in computer peripherals.

    • +3

Huh, by quite some margin too. RTings Comparison.

Also, looking on Amazon the Pink Wonderboom 3 is only $97 (1-2 month ship time), the purple is $129 (on backorder).

      • Looks like blue is also $97

        https://www.amazon.com.au/ULTIMATE-EARS-WONDERBOOM-Hyper-Pin…

Looks like quick delivery. Unless I have the wrong one.

      • Arghhh. I have no idea why my links get slammed. All I did was pickup the link from Amazon. I wasn’t doing any of those things.

It would appear the Wonderboom is also in blue,

        • +5

Your links contained tag=googleshopdsk which is affiliate link for Google Shopping, that will be removed by system as affiliate link if you don't truncate it. I just fixed it for you by cleaning up the unneeded parameters.

    • +13

That Rtings review could be misleading for some.

The main reason for the lower score is that the Bose is a mono speaker as opposed to the wonderboom which is stereo.

If you require a speaker that will be used for playing any bass heavy music the Bose will be a far better choice as it goes down to 60hz. The wonderboom on the other hand only goes down to 88hz meaning it won’t have much sub bass.

        • +4

Guy I work with had a tiny Bose speaker that was able to put out some actually pretty decent bass. I wouldn't completely discount it.

  • How portable is it? Travel in kids backpack?

    • +2

      20 x 9 x 5 and about 600g

Depends how old the kid is?

      Teenager sure
      Toddler no…

    • +1

Great small speaker and I always take it on my overseas travel. Long battery life, USB C and waterproof. Always use it by the pool and beach. Highly recommend, I've taken it to 5 overseas holidays and amazing sound quality for such a small device.

      • +18

Sorry but I hate it when people blast music at the beach, like it's their own private party area.

        • +6

Agree, common sense not that common sometimes

        • +4

I don’t see the user saying they blast their music.

Perfectly acceptable for them to play some quiet tunes on the sand, so long as they’re being considerate of others.

Sounds like the comment made you think of something you don’t like, and you’re referring to that—not to the comment itself.

          • +2

@wormarts: Yeah didn't want to assume that of the commenter, and I can see they agree, so I'm sure they're one of the considerate ones.

  • Would Bose come to the party for student to get even cheaper deal?

  • Would JB price match this deal? I have a $100 voucher I want to use.

    • Should be no problem

    • Apparently NO

This is what the sales agent said to me:
"Unfortunately I cannot match this pricing as it is a prime exclusive deal, we can't match this as it requires an active membership to be able to access these prices, same reason why we can't match Costco, telstra etc. If you are a prime member i recommend grabbing it at that price as it is an amazing deal however I'm still happy to make you an offer on this one today but understandable it will not be as low as the Amazon prime promo"

      Also
"There are instances where we do match Amazon prime but only on the Amazon prime day deal so keep you're eye out for those next year as I believe it was on fairly recently"

      • +1

Nice way to fluff it and decline the price match. A true bargainer goes into the store and tries their luck :)

Note: I did it before and had no issues. Depends on who you get.

        • Yeah I agree - might work out if I try again with a different agent but I am not even sure if I really need it :D

        • +1

Going in person just wastes petrol and makes feel like an even bigger waste of time.

          • +1

@happykamper: No pain, no gain. You snooze you loose.
Then again if you don’t want it that badly don’t go waste petrol to save yourself potentially 50% right?

            • +2

@thousandsuns: Also, you snooze you save :)

              • +1

@bcYield: I mean hey if you don't need why the heck would you waste your time going there! Lol
                I get your point though!

      • Just got one from Penrith store wasn’t an issue.

        • I just did the same at the Galleries and use $10 perk. paid $119 :)

    • JB price is now $129 :)

  • +2

How does this compare to the Bose sound link mini ii?

    • ☝️

    • -1

Yes, same question, but SoundLink mini 1?

    • +1

      I own both.
For sound quality, the Soundlink Mini II is still better in my opinion. Clearer and better sound separation.

The Flex is better in terms of portability, water resistance and being lighter. Also has multipoint function which is handy

      • Thanks mate, yep, purely interested in sound quality at roughly this size (don’t care about weight, battery life within reason, portability, waterproofing, etc) for my use.

I’ve found the sound link mini ii to be just OK sonically (hard to compete with a Sonos one - but that’s a mains powered unit and larger size), but I would say the sound link mini ii is good considering its small size.

      • Does this video https://youtu.be/jcTRYrZ0qZE?si=p7r9lHL9M-CNRH4V&t=527 sound like what you hear in real life?

because in the video it's very obvious the SL flex is superior to the SL mini se

  • Bought 1 but ratings says batt life is 7 hours compared to the wonderboom 3’s 22!

  • how does it compare to jbl charge 5?

  • I wonder how this would go using it as a soundbar for the telly?

    • +1

It actually does a decent job for it's size! I used it once as a soundbar for a road trip and it was actually quite impressive for such a small speaker especially the bass.

      • How'd you connect it? Trying to work out what would be easiest (Bluetooth from TV, AUX>USB-C cord, etc)

    • Personally wouldn't as it is only a mono speaker, you'll definitely want stereo to enjoy any TV/Movies.

  • Went silly and bought 2. Now I'll have to sell my Bose Soundlink colour ii & Sony SRSXB23B to justify it to the wife

    • +1

Sell the wife instead so you can buy more!

  • +2

I have two of these. Honesty just go ahead and buy one (or two) at this price!l You won't be disappointed. Pairing them in stereo is a little frustrating at times, this would be the only downside. Sound is excellent and the battery lasts more than enough for a day sesh.

  • Will jb hifi price match?

    • Yes they will matchsticks officeworks will beat it with a stick

      • +1

Asked JB and they said because it is a " prime" promo, they would not be matching it :(

  • Micro usb to usb A
    Very old type

    Prime Big Deal!!!

    Thought it will start 10th

  • Bluetooth 4.2, no thanks.

    • +1

      Why?

      • $130 price tag is not even offering you Bluetooth v5.
There are alternatives available in the market offering competitive pricing with latest hardware specs.

        • Will it be a lot of beneficial difference for playing music mainly?

Edit: Looks like it cannot connect to 2 devices at the same time. If I connect to a 4.2 and a 5.0, will it work?

        • +1

  • Anker pro motion is my go to - best value

  • +2

JB have matched now for those interested in using gift cards.

    • Legend! Was wanting to use my GCs from the ultimate deal + get the green version which is full price on Amazon.

  • +4

Received mine today. After all negative comments here I wasn't expecting much but it sounds amazing…. until you crank up the volume! At low volumes everything is great, mids are clear bass is impressive for its size etc but at high volumes everything is compressed into one loud noise, losing all the details. Not sure whether I'll keep it or not, I'll use it for a week or so and decide.

    • +2

Thanks for the experiment, you help us not to buy on impulse.

    • +1

legend, keen to hear further feedback.

The problem with Ozbargain is everyone buys when they see 100+ positive votes lol

  • +1

    It is now $122.55.
