Lebara XS SIM 30-Day Starter Pack $4 @ Coles

450

Perfect companion for Boost people, been waiting for a while for it to come back. Includes 300 minutes international calls for zone 1 and some credit for zone 2 countries I think.

How is this a perfect companion if I'm currently with boost?

    • +2

Port out for 30 days then port back in when you can make $4 profit. Doesn’t work if you are on long expiry.

      • It should also with with
$2 profit +$4 spent +$2 loss recovered when ported back again

        (Aka 2 boost sim deals)

        • -2

Yes, but we don’t bite on $2 profit anymore, do we? Has to be at least $4!

      • How do you make $4 profit?

    • +1

One Example = If you are currently on say a Boost 365 day plan and want to buy another "On Special" when it expires. One has to churn out and back in.

Been having a lot of trouble porting fron Boost to Lebara and vice versa lately.

    • Could you share your experience? I'm looking to do the same. Taking longer to process the port out request?

      • +1

Port request wouldn't go through. When contacting support they stated Boost submitted wrong I.D credentials to them hence why request failed despite the ID verification check with my driver license. Couldn't get it resolved due to weekends and will now have to wait until after public holiday.

        • +2

Something funky is happening with Boost ID verification lately. I'll occasionally get ID failed results when activating despite my ID details being correct. I can go back later and use the exact same ID and successfully activate.

I feel like Boost have done something automatically in their system that is introducing some kind of constraint when. It comes to verifying account details internally. I blame Telstra IT of course.

        • Same! I did 2 numbers and 1 of them is not going through and I have to call them to “resubmit” their port request again while we on the phone. And “surprisingly”, the port completed when we were on the phone.

    • cheap gift data for 3-5 bucks on ebay

    • I ported from Boost to Lebara (bought SIM at Coles) today without a hitch….

      • Never had any issue going from Boost to Lebara the last 3-4 times. Just this and the previous port have been problematic.

  • Anyone know how to check stock levels of stores?

  • Has anyone tried to activate expired sim cards? I've got like 5 of them that expired a few months ago :(

  • +1

How long does the number last before it expires? Need a spare sim for sign-up deals as mine expired

    • which sogn ups if you dont mind me asking i only know of guzmam and merlo coffee

  • +1

I always have issues in activating every time I buy from Coles while there is no issue at all if I buy from Woolies.

  • I wonder if this is specific to certain Coles locations. They were full price at my local Coles two nights ago (Friday).

    • +1

Very rare that prepaid SIMs are different at specific stores. More likely your local hasn't ticketed the special, but it'll still scan through the register at the discounted price. Give it a crack next time you're in!

Bugger - looks like I picked the wrong $14.90 30 day SIM. I grabbed same one that's on the bottom left of the pic above and definitely paid full price :-(

    • Showed full price at my local store in Bunbury, WA but when scanned at checkout, price came down to $4

  • Just the heads up, i bought a couple a while back. Despite not activating them until now, it appears that the timer for expiry started rhe day they were purchased.

    • Mine says exp 27/08/25 on the pack. Maybe you had really old stock?

      • I should clarify, when I saw a while back, i mean a couple of weeks ago. Loterally activated one this morning and it says 11 days left. Timings seem to be too convenient?

        • Oh sorry, I got what you mean now. That is strange. Don’t think they can activate it until the number is tied to an ID of sorts? Did you call them up and find out?

      • +1

After you purchase a Starter Pack, you have 60 days to activate your SIM before it expires.

        • +2

That reads as if it’s talking about how long we have before the SIM pack expires and can’t be activated, not the length of the plan itself though. It would constitute as false advertising if it says 30 days on the pack then you only get 11 for reasons unexplained. I wouldn’t assume the 60 days expiry to be accurate either, when there is an expiry printed on the pack. Might just be a way to try to reduce support queries.

Anyway, I’ve never encountered this, had Lebara a few times in the past before amaysim started doing sales on their long expiry.

Always have issues activating with these guys. SIM does not work after process. Happened twice now. Never Lebara again even with these deals zzzzzzzz

  • I got three lol

    • +1

lol hold your horses, don’t forget the three months free deal with comm bank https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/797661

      • But this deal is single use only is it not?

        • I went through it again this morning, seems like you can have up to five sims for a single account, so there’s a probability of 15 months all up. I haven’t done it yet because I have too many boost sims. And now we are approaching Black Friday, I don’t know if I want to use this soon.

  • What boost sim deal are people going for

    • I go for $4+ profit cashrewards deals.

  • Once activated, how long does the phone number last if we don't recharge at all before it expires ? I miss the year-long-active aldi and telstra prepaid SIMs

    • Initial Period: refers to the 30 days for 30-day plans after activation or 365 days for payg.
Grace Period: 60 days after initial period finishes.
Dormant Period: 10 days after the grace period ends.
Suspended Period: 10 days after the dormant period ends. This when services are restricted, ie no incoming text and calls possible. At the end of this period, your service is terminated.

Recharge anytime before the termination resets the service back to the initial period.

So if my maths works, it’s 109 days before you have to recharge. If you are able to change your plan to payg somehow then it’s 365 days plus 59 days.

      Link here for the agreement.

  • Guessing this might be expired as catalogue changed today?

    • +1

Nope, it’s still there. I walk past it this morning. Another week of crazy $4 spendings 🤣

  • Sorry if this is a silly question - are you able to use these one after another i.e. not port out and port back in but just activate a new Lebara sim and then it effectively "charges"/"renews" your account?

    • What you described is the scenario of recharging, this is a starter pack. Think of recharge as printer cartridges, manufacturers sell printers at a discount because they know they will make a profit on the cartridges later. That’s why most SIM starter packs are heavily discounted, and it would be against the business’ interest to allow them to be used for recharge.

Available at Woolworths now for same $4

  • Now concerned purchase date is when the clock starts ticking on the 30 days (due to comments above). I just activated my month on Boost. Won't want to activate this for 30 days.

    • I highly doubt that is the case. Have bought a couple for my upcoming porting. It is however interesting that one pack has ‘30 day’ printed on it, the other one doesn’t and only emphasises on the acceptance of the t&c on the website. I don’t know too much about the ACL on this, but it smells bad since the webpage is a living document. Anyhow, $4 hardly breaks the bank, if it turns out to be the case, they’re only digging their own grave.
