Disney Plus Password Sharing Crackdown Rolling out in Canada

Looks like Disney Plus is heading down the path as Netflix.

Starting with Canada on 1st Nov 2023, password sharing restrictions are kicking in. I think it is inevitable that this will reach our shores.

    WE'RE UPDATING OUR SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT
As a member of the Disney+ community and in advance of the launch of the new tiers on Disney+, we wanted to let you know that we are making some corresponding updates to our Subscriber Agreement. We also took the opportunity to streamline it to make it even easier to read and update some of our other terms.

For existing subscribers, like you, these terms will be effective beginning on November 1, 2023 (and the prior version of our Subscriber Agreement will apply until then).

We encourage you to read and review the updated Subscriber Agreement in full and keep a copy for your files. Once effective, it will govern your use and enjoyment of your Disney+ subscription. We are as committed as ever to making sure you continue enjoying streaming on Disney+. Please visit our Help Centre for more information.

We have highlighted some of the changes for your reference:

    • We’re reflecting that with the launch of the new tiers, subscriptions to our streaming services may be offered in tiers that differ, including with respect to features, pricing, and other factors.

    • We’re clarifying that, by signing up for and using our streaming services, you consent to receive email and other forms of electronic notices and disclosures relating to your subscription and our services (for example, we will attempt to notify you via email before price changes).

    • We’re reflecting details on account sharing and definition of a “Household”.

    • We’re elaborating on a few provisions set out under the section titled “Restrictions on Your Use of the Disney+ Service”.

    • We’re explaining that subscriptions to Disney+ will be subject to terms and disclosures presented during the sign-up and purchase process and in our Help Centre.

    • We're including other incidental changes and updates.

I must have received a different email as it mentions nothing about household sharing:

We wanted to let you know that we are making some updates to our Subscriber Agreement.

These terms will apply as of today for new subscribers. For prior and existing subscribers, like you, these terms will be effective beginning on November 5, 2023 (and the prior version of our Subscriber Agreement will apply until then).

We encourage you to review the updated Subscriber Agreement at disneyplus.com/en-gb/legal/subscriber-agreement in full and save a copy for your files. Once effective, it will govern your use and enjoyment of your Disney+ subscription. We are as committed as ever to making sure you have an enjoyable streaming experience. Please visit our Help Center for more information about your subscription.

We have highlighted some of the changes for your reference:

      • We’re simplifying and clarifying how we will resolve disputes.

      • We’re clarifying the circumstances under which we will provide notice to you.

      • We’re updating the methods by which we can notify you of changes to your Disney+ subscription and/or our Subscriber Agreement.
