Ignoring the wack comments, this actually worked perfectly. Have 30tb setup and ready to go (until the burner account gets banned lol). Thanks for sharing!

  • +2

Instructions clear, 30TB acquired on new account until 2090. Tao bop vu may bay gio (thank you in Vietnamese).

    • +1

that many words just to say thank you? i thought it would just be something like cam on

      • Yeah true, they usually abbreviate it to vcl on the chat boards.

      • +2

That is definitely not 'thank you' in Vietnamese. Stick to cam on

        • +2

Outsiders might not understand it, but the locals recognise it immediately as an obscure hacker dialect

  • Ripper hack bro. Nice work. Worked perfectly first time.

  • mark sure you verify your account or google will flag it immediatly

    • +1

      How?

  • +1

Wondering how the mods are going to verify this is expired when reports starts coming in 😂

Google are moving towards a free-unlimited-storage-for-all model. This is their unofficial pilot program

      • +1

I'm sure this was intended as a joke but the funny thing is Google have actually be cracking down on unlimited. They killed Education unlimited last year. This year they finally started to enforce the limit on Google Workspaces. And even for Enterprise they're only giving an extra 5TB/user every 90 days of their 'as much as you need' or whatever they call it now. And they aren't the only ones, when Dropbox got hit by all the Google refugees they quickly folded their unlimited offer. Box (frankly I don't know why people thought they would last) only let you upload 1TB / month or something to their 'unlimited' plan.

        • There's nothing called unlimited. It's simply not a cost-effective business model.

          • @lightfoot: Box still call their offering unlimited https://www.box.com/pricing

They just limit you to 1TB/month upload or something. (It's something like that. I haven't been paying much attention to what their current policies are, since unlike Google or Dropbox, I don't know why people expected it to last for any period of time. There is a lot of discussion on the Data Hoarders subreddit or on a certain Rclone thread if you're interested.)

            • @Nil Einne: Ah yes, I've seen Box before. A pretty penny for a personal user, but a great deal for business users relying on cloud storage.

Haven't visited Data Hoarders in a while, thanks for reminding, I'll have a look. :)

              • @lightfoot: Also, love how Box puts it at $21, but minimum 3 users, so starting $63/month (annual). Marketing at its finest.

                • @lightfoot: Well the minimum user limit is something common to Microsoft, Dropbox (when they were still offering unlimited) and Google. Yes it means it's quite a bit more expensive but some people are still willing to spend that if they really get unlimited storage. So it hasn't received so much attention. It's the 1TB bandwidth limit that has. https://forum.rclone.org/t/unlimited-alternatives-to-google-…

It's worth remembering what I said above, Google was technically offering unlimited AU$16.80/month (well different prices in different countries) until about the middle of this year, something well known to those interested in storing a lot of data. (I mean even Linus talked about it.) Despite Workspace Standard technically having a limit they never enforced it even with a single user. So most people were using that. Then Google finally started to enforce the limit and everyone started to cast around for options.

Dropbox was what most people willing to pay chose because they were cheaper than Google and initially letting you increase your limit as required (as their policy suggested they would). But they quickly folded. People started looking for other options and some were also looking for cheaper options than Dropbox. Some chose Box but they then got hit by the 1TB limit (which is actually for any bandwidth so downloads are also a problem). Of course those who go in early to Dropbox might have enough for their needs or at least enough that they'll keep using it for 1 year. And anyone who got in before they completely changed their plans in September may or may not find it worth keeping their 35TB for 5 years depending on their needs.

I think in the end most people who didn't get enough from Dropbox have had to return to Google or actually pay per TB to someone. Google's current policy of 5TB/user increase every 90 days (meaning 25TB since it's the minimum number of users) may not be that generous and they're more expensive than Google but it's ended up the best offering if you're willing to spend it.

Microsoft is the sort of dark horse. I think due to a combination of their as much as you need option no longer being sold directly so requiring a reseller, and that they can have performances issues or at least they do with Rclone (which realistically probably nearly everyone interested in storing a lot of data is using) means not many people seem to have tried them. So it's somewhat unclear how willing they are to increase your limits on request when you have the required number of users etc. (I've seen a few reports of success and rejection but very few. Although frankly even reports of Google for the second 90 day period are very few at the moment.)

And yes, all these options are quite a bit more expensive than what people used to pay Google for defacto unlimited storage. So most people have just given up on storing so much data. (I mean there are people doing Telegram etc but I think the number willing to go that effort is small especially given the strong risk it will just randomly die along with all your data at any time). Instead sticking with 2-5TB from Google or Microsoft.

      • I think program was long gone under photos app

  • worked. thanks

  • Would it work if you use use + sign in your Gmail prefix email e.g. [email protected]
so you don't have to create new account ?

it's still the same as using your existing account lol

Is it necessary add credit card to payments and wallet? I cannot use Google Wallet on my phone.

  • Who’s using this trick their main Google account? Its tempting but the thought of losing access or getting banned is much costlier.

    • It's free to make a new Google account

  • What are the best use cases of 30TB of online storage?

8k VR Porn collection on burner email your wife will never know about

      • feels a bit against easternculture

  • Did they block it already? Keeps getting Unable to change your subscription plan after paste the link with "2C3" into my browser. Any one has the same issue or solution?

  • wow - this worked. amazing hack, how did OP even come across this sequence ??

      same here.

    • I get stuck at step 4 - can I still use your suggestion? Or am I stuck?

  • Nice thanks for the post I set this up last night, I'm currently at 70gb and climbing from transferring my iTunes library share. Im using Transmit FTP for Mac OS and it's chugging along at 1.4MB P/S.
I have shit internet in the country so happy with the speed, its about 2/3rds my total bandwidth.

    • Get starlink

      • To expensive and (profanity) F&$k Elon Muscovite 💙💛

    • chugging along at 1.4MB P/S.

should only take you about 286 days to fill up your 30TB at that rate :)

      • Luckily my library is only 3TB 465hrs to go 👍🏼

        • Gonna hurt when google ban your account

          • @frazel: They can ban all they like, it's a junk account, no way would I link this to any real account.
My data is backed up elsewhere.

  • Anyone brave enough to have done this on their main account?

    • Will try in a few months if still active

      • +1

        Already not active

        • Misread that as adding my main account to this.

    • Yup been teetering on the 15gb for a while now so rolled the dice, will back-up essentials later tonight.

    • +1

Yeah - although I ended up switching back to (an unhacked) paid monthly membership in the hope of unwinding the hack, but the first month of which will last until 2078 (I figure that cancelling paid subs will be trickier)…

I can also easily switch to my old Hotmail account (which has 243GB of storage, and is no longer overrun by spam). Well, not easily, but it's doable. Have a back up, just in case…

  • -1

So this only works with new accounts?

    • +3

I guess it works with all, just no one would take risk with existing one.

  • What’s going on guys is the party over? =|

    • +1

That's usually what 'Expired' up the top means… 😉

  • +1

1111th upvote, hopefully they don't cancel it.

    • -2

Did you not see the big red EXPIRED?

      • +1

tryagain is referring to Google cancelling, as in revoking the 30T for those who successfully upgraded.

      • I did, but got in on it earlier, the fact that they have now put a stop to it means it's on their radar, hoping that doesn't mean that they revoke the storage as well.

  • Wow they finally closed it

Hopefully we're ok with it, will be interesting to see how it's handled.

    Hopefully they just cop it.

30TB gives plenty of space to upload into photos then drive again. Uploads are woefully slow on regular plans

Any strategies on how to upload once and have content on both apps? There's google takeout but that's zip only

    • +5

They're not going to just cop it - there's a huge black market now of unlimited 30TB accounts that people will sell for profit. If they just let that happen, it's going to end up badly.

      • -1

        unlimited 30TB

        So there's actually a limit?

        • Yeah, the unlimited refers to the life of the account

          • @trotsky: Oh that's right, the earth will stop exiting in 2090!

So you meant unlimited time until the end of the earth, not unlimited 30TB like you wrote.

            • @spaceflight: No I meant you're arguing over petty semantics and even if you're right you'll be wrong, but yes you're so very right, congrats

              • @trotsky:

No I meant you're arguing over petty semantics

I just pointed out that "unlimited 30TB" makes no sense.

and even if you're right you'll be wrong

                How can I be both?

but yes you're so very right

So I'm right and not wrong?

                congrats

                Thank you

      • +2

I checked eBay, can't find any of these 30TB accounts for sale, should I check the dark web?

    • +1

Given that they don't offer plans that extend to 2090 it's pretty trivial to find any plan ending in 2030+ where the user hasn't paid a dime and just wind it back to a 1month subscription, or 0gb… whatever they do they won't leave it at invalid values of 2090+30TB.

      • Yeah unfortunately I think what you've said is the most likely scenario.

I don't think they will ban, but if you smash the uploads until they nerf the sub, at least what is uploaded is still backed up

        • Although there's no guarantee they'll keep it past 2 years if you're over the limit. Note also without fooling with service accounts you can only upload 750GB per day (well unless you upload a massive file) so if they only take a few days to fix it you might not get that much uploaded anyway.

  • +7

So time to wait for account bans!?

    • Waiting for the "OMG how did a company that specializes in user tracking work out my main account and ban me!!"

      • I doubt they will ban my main account, used a private browser on a vpn, a burner sim and pre paid Visa card and did not link the new google account to any existing accounts I have.

        • +2

Personally I suspect myself Google isn't going to ban anything and especially not other accounts but instead just change the data limit & expiry to something more reasonable.

However if you are concerned about them doing something to you main account how long do you plan to keep it up? Having to use a VPN whenever you want to access that account including to upload or download (and the possible speed ramifications thereof); and ensuring you don't accidentally access your main Google account via the same VPN is likely to get annoying. But can you really be confident if they haven't done anything in 2 months they won't do anything?

          • +3

@Nil Einne: I have one machine that is for just all my torrents, dodgy accounts etc, its permanently on a vpn with bogus accounts. Then the data is only shared locally on my home network via lan.
I set it up about 8 years ago after getting a letter from my ISP about torrents.

            • @Jenbrook: Wow such extend to stay anonymous

              • +2

@neonlight: Its Just a VPN on one recycled iMac for $50 that I upgraded, really quite simple and cheap and the ethernet, for me, is necessary for streaming my 4k content.

This has to be the "OzBargain Post of Year 2023"

    • +4

      Post of the decade!

      • +5

        post of a lifetime actually

        • +2

agree as long as they don't nerf. seems likely they will

        • +1

True mate. Post of lifetime. especially for those that got until 2090 LoL they likely be dead by then, who knows ?
I only scored like (upto 2068 or something like that). Still 30+ years of storage.

Or may be more like data donation to google (and be inviting lawsuits if storing sensitive stuff as Google can report/use the personal information) ??

      • +2

Post of a century minus a decade

    • You have to admit that it was a bit of a character assassination — the guy would definitely not be evil

    • +3

No one likes your crap joke and you've just gone on some insane tangent

  • Please help im getting this error after changing 2C5 to 2C3 "We are unable to change your subscription plan. Manage subscriptions."

Unfortunately because of the user tharlow, as above, the hack has been shut down by google.

      • Missed the boat :(

          • +2

@tharlow: but after 6 month every thing that is excess will be deleted so whats the point

            • +4

@Nangal: He's just trying to ease his guilty conscience, he's torn between getting good bargains from potential errors and supporting a 600 billion dollar company that makes it money from your personal data.
Oh wait maybe he was only in it for the cash reward all along?
