Purchased 2 will see if they come.

Price back to $185. Guessing error, but good luck to those who got in

    • Still $5.50 but says call to check stock.

      • They're changing it pretty frequently by the looks. Price was definitely showing as the original when I checked it.

  • You realise they are illegal to use in Australia. Doesn't mean you can't buy one.

    • Why would they be illegal??

Did you actually read the thread ?

If you can't leave your engine running when you're not in the car, then you can't use your turbo timer…

I think I would believe the email response from vicroads over what others are saying in the thread. And we now have cars that don't even need a key in the ignition to start them and have remote start.

          • @Shaun Prawn: Read it more carefully - the legality of running an unattended vehicle isn't addressed by the email questions or by VicRoads. They're purely talking about the legality of the devices.

Note that I don't actually know if running an unattended vehicle is specifically outlawed, it might be just fine !!

There is a PDF file on the vicroads website that even says they are not illegal.

Nice! Now I just need a turbo..

  • Strongly suggest using one and NOT leave the car running and manually turning off the ignition after a few minutes, especially if you at home.

That's what a neighbour did but he fell asleep. Somehow the car caught fire and burned the whole house - it's now several months later and they're still not back in the house.

  • Modern engines already have means of circulating coolant through the turbo after engine-off (mine uses a small dedicated water pump which runs for a couple of minutes) so an old-school turbo timer like this would be entirely pointless.

Check whether it would actually be useful on your particular car 👍

    • My passat does this, the pump is so freaking loud.

good for rx8 short trip from cold start

No need for these old school boy racer parts, it's not 1996. Bad design if you need one.

Just get 3 spoon engines from Japan.

…and did he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust?

    • An auxiliary water pump doesn't keep oil flowing through the turbo. The oil that's in the turbo at the time the engine shuts off will get significantly hotter and deteriorate more if the turbo is still glowing red when you shut down the engine. Crusty cooked oil doesn't do you any favours in terms of longevity. It's a good idea to keep fresh oil flowing through the turbo until it reaches a more reasonable temperature
