    Gaming in a Church?

    • +13

      Yeah! It's a fun event.

  • Awesome, what games are played?

    • +1

There is a full schedule on the website. But Counter Strike, Age of Empires, Rocket League, Halo, Trackmania, Starcraft, Wreckfest, Chess, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Retrocycles, and just heaps more.

      • No Quake 3 Arena? Last LAN I went to we had Quake 3 Arena and that was pretty fun.

Had to borrow a network card and some coax though.

        • +2

Quake 3 is on the there.

  • +2

    Man it’s been ages since I LAN’d.

Is battlefield 1942 still going strong??

    • +4

even stronger now that the loading time isn't five minutes or so. Dun dun dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun.

      • +2

I like that you know how many duns are required before a brief pause is required.

  • +1

can you guys please come West? Great events, but soooo far away!

    • West Vic? Or West Australia?

      • +1

I can't speak for the peeps in Perth, though I'm sure they'd be excited for the opportunity. Yeah, I meant western suburbs of Melb.

        • +5

We are looking into western vic. Potential options in Werribee, Ballarat, or Warnambool.

          • @Jabob: MonsterLAN back in the mid 2000's was peak. dc++ sharing before good broadband and no game was a live service so everything was pirateable and playable on lan.

  • Pokemon TCG where?

    • There are usually some pretty chill Pokemon games that happen in the board games area.

  • Would love to but to far to travel good luck hope it’s an awesome turn out!!

  • +4

I remember the days that big lan events were overnight.. sleeping was optional on the floor…

    • +1

SGL? That was fun. I think they reached like 550 people at one point.

    • Dude lock-ins were the shit.

Eventually you'd end up playing some kind of stamina game like Generals or Supreme Commander and smashing huge armies together because fps when you are dead tired gets weird.

  • Do you know of any of this sort of thing that allows under 18s? I’d love for my nephews to experience a proper lan

    • +2

We allow under 18s on a case by case basis if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian.

I'm not aware of any similar events that allow all ages.

  • +1

    18+
    no drugs or alcohol

What makes it 18+? Is it the Lego building station or pass the parcel?

    • +1

      😂😂

I'd imagine it would be related to insurances or WWCC
Either that or, like me, they know kids ruin a good time

    • +3

The pass the parcel gets super intense.

But it's a restriction involving insurances and WWCCs and the content of some of the games. We are having to have kids on a case by case basis provided they are accompanied by their parent/guardian.

    • +2

Maybe not hearing some 12 year old what they did to your mother would be a refreshing change?

Also a great excuse to tell my kids they can't come with me lol

  • Would love for the Big LAN to come down to South Aus please.

  • Anything like this in QLD?

  • What’s the charity reference for in the title?

    • Oh I seem to have neglected that in the description. We are ourselves a not-for-profit but we also raise money for local charities with our event. Currently Wildlife Victoria.
