OK. I have some feedback, as it was requested. It's meant as constructive criticism.

Website looks a bit basic, but that's ok, we're interested in the prices, not how many thousands of dollars you pump into the site. Good/great domain/business name.

    And the prices are confusing.

Operation Red River can be bought for $9.54 or for $18.95. Why would I choose the higher priced option? Just because there's a photo of it?

$9.54 would make you a very attractive and interesting company, one to bookmark, $18.95 wouldn't.

Also, choosing products by price bracket makes sense, but only if the price bracket is sensible. For games, $0 to $20 would be sensible. $0 to $200 isn't.

But back on point, if I click on the above link, it gives me several prices for Max Payne 3. It looks like I can buy it from you guys for either $29 or $75.95. Now that doesn't make any sense to me.

And then to make it even more confusing you list prices from 3 other online retailers. What's the point in that?

Whatever your intended reason is I think it only serves to confuse the customer. Are you an online retailer, or a buy comparison site.

At $29 for the Aussie version of the game (Region 4) I'd find it very hard not to purchase. As it is your site is confusing to the point that I would find it very hard to purchase. Which is a shame.

I'd also like to comment that I strongly feel that all online game retailers should make it utterly clear as to wether or not the Region 4 game is to be supplied. If you post a picture of a Region 4 game and supply a Region 2 game, that is deceptive. Is it so difficult to be upfront and honest with customers and make it entirely clear which region game they're buying.

    • Thanks for the feedback!

Couple of points I'd like to mention:

      • Some of the duplicate products are the same product, just from a different warehouse (we have 3 locations that we ship from: Adelaide, Brisbane & the UK). Once a backend application is finalised, these duplicates will be grouped under the one product (like Max Payne), so you can either choose to get the item cheaper (but wait a few weeks for it to arrive) or get it from an AU warehouse (at a slightly higher price, but the option for express shipping is available)

      • Usually the best prices are from our UK warehouse, but occasionally we get great deals on local stock (ie. Max Payne), so it can be confusing as to why we might be selling the UK version for more. I'm currently looking at ways to make the buying choices for multi-location items clearer, so this feedback has come at the perfect time!

      • I'm unsure as to where you saw this "And then to make it even more confusing you list prices from 3 other online retailers. What's the point in that?" You may be referring to the different locations, which I hope to make more obvious in the near future as to what the choices mean.

      • As for the regions, we state on our Customer Service page (http://cheapgames.com.au/customer-service#product_info) that some items are parallel imports. I'd like to mention on the product page which items are parallel imports, but this needs to come through via our feeds and might take a few weeks to get done. It will be done eventually though!

I'll respond to each of your points:-

        • Some of the duplicate products are the same product, just from a different warehouse…

Ok, that makes sense. It's confusing, but makes sense. What doesn't make sense, and is also confusing, is why it would cost $75 to ship from Brisbane, and $29 from Adelaide. Does the customer care if it's shipped from either? As long as the item is received in a timely fashion and in good condition it wouldn't matter if they're kept up your grandmas jumper. Differentiating from UK and Aussie deliveries makes sense, differntiating from Brisbane and Adelaide deliveries does not make sense, and certainly does not explain at $56 discrepancy.

        • Usually the best prices are from our UK warehouse…

If it's to be shipped from the UK make it utterly clear that it will be - perhaps use the Union Jack as a symbol and explain the process in a FAQ / Delivery page.

To be honest I think the best thing to do would be to order a batch of games from the UK, stock them in Aus and then sell them.

But whatever you do, please make sure that people know what they're buying. If you sell a Region 2 game when it's not entirely clear you are ripping off your customers. Such deceptive practices will not see you grow faith amongst your customer base. Most people perhaps won't care, some will. Be honest to everyone and avoid such issues.

        • I'm unsure as to where you saw this "And then to make it even more confusing you list prices from 3 other online retailers. What's the point in that?"

No, I'm not referring to different locations. On your Max Payne page, directly below the large Max Payne pic, is 3 pics (although one doesnt show) and then an arrow. The arrow says "More results". One of the pics says $42.90 for Max Payne, free shipping, Dungeon Crawl. Another says $47.60 dstore. The other says $47.92 cuttingedge guy.

By the sound of it you have no idea what I'm referring to and you really ought to. I'd be thinking that you probably want to remove this function all together.

Well that doesn't sound good enough does it. It needs to be utterly clear on each specific item listing. Well, you're choice. You can either be honest with your customers, or lie to them and deal with Dept of Fair Trading. My suggestion is to be honest but of course you're free to go your own way.

        • Thanks again, I'll be making it more obvious what region the game is from, just need to run any changes past the boss first! :)

As for the "More Results" from other stores, that's definitely not something we've integrated into the site. It sounds like you've got a browser toolbar or adware injecting those options into the sites you view.

  • Tried to add it to my cart, which says it did, but if I view cart or checkout, its empty

    • Sorry, we're currently having a few issues with the site, so try again later tonight! :)
