I have these are they are amazing. I was about to buy a second set as a backup for when they finally die, but they are still in such good condition that I decided not to bother. Highly recommended.

    • You have this specific 6? Half the reviews I can find online talk about it being much narrower than previous versions.

I'm definitely tempted, as I prefer these to the crazy Hoka-like soles that are appearing on so many shoes these days.

Not sure if it helps you, but compared to Vapor Glove 5 (my previous one), the Trail Glove 6 is definitely narrower in the front half. Rear half is about same (although much more rigid). Sorry I can't compare with previous versions of Trail Glove

        • Thanks… I'm usually good with a narrower fit and have just ordered these. Hopefully they work out.

I have this exact model. Its not narrow. Compared to normal sheos like Nike/adidas runners, my toes have more room and can flare out nicely.

        • I got these in yesterday.

I have very 'average' width feet and the fit of these Merrells is definitely towards the narrow side. Heel is okay, toes are okay (just) and midfoot is definitely very snug, to the extent that the shoes are more comfortable with very thin or no socks.

The sole is much harder than any 'barefoot' shoe. My old NB Minimus and FiveFinger shoes give a lot more ground feel if that's important to anyone. The Merrell sole is still thin, but gives a very 'armoured' feeling. Arch is definitely high.

Laces are remarkably cheap and stiff, will be replaced.

Overall, I am happy with these but could see they would not work for a lot of people.

          • @rumblytangara: hmm i have 2 fivefingers and one NB minimus. probably should get this but shipping fee wasnt good. oh well OOS anyway

Shame it does not work for Vapor Glove 6. I already got 2 pairs of Trail Gloves but I find them less breathable than Vapor Gloves. Better in wet, but worse in hot summer.

    Are these wide fit?

  • Thanks @lee4, got a pair.

I bought these without trying them on last big sale - be aware that they have a really really high, rigid arch support thats built into the sole and not removable

    • Doesn't sound to comfy

Depends on your feet. Every feet is slightly different and each manufacturer makes shoes with a bit different shape. In my case, every merrell so far fits like a glove, including this one (coincidentaly wearing it right now). I personally like the arch. It isn't IMHO "really really high" but it isn't flat either. Give it try in nearest store and if it fits, you can order cheap online.

        • hmm if i have very flat feet then this is good for me ?
          @Farmos
          @Vecernik87

          • @CyberMurning: I would be cautious, if you have rigid flat feet. It may not be the most comfortable:

Figuring out the best arch support insoles for your flat feet requires you to know your flat foot type - rigid or flexible. If your feet are flat when standing or sitting, you have rigid flat feet and need low arch insoles. If your arch appears when you're sitting, you have flexible flat feet and need insoles with a medium arch.

If you have flexible flat or normal arch like me, you should be fine

    • Hi the arch offers support for the feet. Please order with confidence, you can return the shoes for a refund or exchange if needed.

      • So with refund, the buyer wears the postage both easy. And with exchange the buyer also wears the postage bother ways, and the the new item is mailed for free.

    • There are alot of savage reviews on this shoe, particularly criticising the over the top solid arch support, and being uncomfortable compared to the previous versions.

    • I returned a pair due to aggressive arch. Also, narrow heel cup.

    • I tried these on instore and found the arch very noticeable. I felt like I could get used to them eventually, but plenty of shoes fit and feel great straight out of the box so why bother, particularly at full retail. It's certainly not something I would have expected of a minimalist type shoe.

Did you end up getting used to them? For the clearout price I'm tempted. But then again, I have since gotten Saucony Peregrines and I love them.. Not a barefoot shoe by any measure, but 4mm drop so somewhat in the same neighbourhood.

if only the shipping is free…

If only the shoes were free.

If only common sense can be bought…

  • Cheers Op, any possibility for a deal on the vapour glove 6's too?

    • I already asked that but there haven't been any reaction.
I bet its because of TG7 release, they need to sell stock. There is no VG7 yet AFAIK as the VG6 was released earlier this year - still current model.

      • One can only hope

  • Suggest to try in store before you buy. I found these to be narrow in the foot with excess support for a barefoot shoe - don't see the point. The vapour glove makes sense and is the smarter buy.

  • According to MyFit3D, I am size UK 8.5, 2E, normal arch, neutral.
I tried on a wide range of Merrell trainers in the outlet last weekend, including a variety of Moab Speed (3, GTX, Eco), Oakcreek, Moab 3 and Agility Peak 4,
and found the shoe length to be accurate, their standard width generally suits my 2E-wide feet (without having to go up a half-size) but in some cases a bit snug at the front of the heel, which was only really significant due to the arch support. So I found the arch support very hard, rigid and noticeably uncomfortable. I also found the shoes slightly rolling my feet outwards as I walked which didn't feel good.

Having said the fit was fairly accurate, just as with New Balance, Puma, Adidas etc… I tried on a pair of Accentor 3 which appeared to use a completely different sizing guide to all the other Merrell shoes I tried, being narrower and longer, but still with the accursed arch support).
